I had the pleasure of meeting Shoot many years ago in Sydney for a lecture he did. While I obviously can't claim that I know him, I do feel comfortable saying a few things I learned. 1st, he clearly loves profoming for people, and his joy during those performances is genuine and infectious. 2nd, he really is that humble on and off stage. And 3rd, he skill, even at 1.5 feet away, is infuriating because of how clean his moves are. To put it bluntly, even if you know his methods, you won't catch him doing them right in front of your eyes.

This act was just top notch. I think I know how a bit of it was done but I'm so freaking lost it's not even funny. The wealth of knowledge in the brains of Penn and Teller is just unreal. I hope they never fly on the same airplane together in case something happens. Just beautiful.

It almost sounds like Ogawa has literally shown Penn and Teller this particular technique backstage at one of their shows if I’m implying Penn’s code correctly, it certainly wouldn’t help Ogawa in this game.

Seen him in person in Hawai’i at his show that is very small and intimate. Flabbergasted at his abilities. Knowing that “it’s slight of hand” should not be a reason he didn’t fool them. He’s doing slight of hand on a level no one else can. (Just like others with card tricks). The absolute best this guy.

5:10 How does he make everything disappear? I mean the whole thing was magical. I didn't even know he was from Hawaii. My favorite place to vacation! He's already living in a magical place! So glad he came back to showcase again!
@flobiish
@flobiish 10 күн бұрын
@5:10 he only has two things he needs to disappear here, the spoonhead and the coin that supposedly transformed into the spoonhead. The full spoon is already in his mouth. I'm not going to pretend know which method he actually used, but the rubbing he did on the coin to transform it into the spoonhead could disintegrate something that's just thick enough to be shiny and the size of a coin, and the crumpling could do similar to a similar fake spoonhead leaving a tiny enough residue that observers can't see.

That was absolutely stunning, full of unexpected moments and brilliant timing. Production and disappearance can be a case of ‘look what I can do’ and this was completely the opposite. Very humble and totally brilliant

There were a few moves in begining of the act that was a bit to obvious what was going on (not sure if it was nerves, just me happening to focus there right then or thought out distractions to fool P&T) to then lead to some really bug WTF!?!? moments for me. In Matrix the line is "There is no Spoon" but I guess Penn went with Life of Brian "We found a spoon!". Anyway. Nice act but I would have prefered to experience it live and a bit more close-up. You fooled me way more than not. :) ❤

I disagree. There were at least 3 new unknown methods in the act. Unless he showed them this backstage at their shows (perhaps he did), there was enough in the act to have “fooled” them. This is one of the issues that I have in general with the judging. What percent do they need to not know for the act to be successful; any, ¼, half, most, all?

nah, definetely not best sleight of hand. without watching twice or in slow motion, i noticed the following: palmed coin and spoon, some "hole" inside the cup near end, it looked like there's a hole on the side on other side and you slipped spoons thru that hole, from hand thru hole and out the top of cup. i haven't seen the preious one, will look it up. don't take it as insult tho, i'm saying this so you can improve your act in future. i'm sure you've looked thru it yourself aswell, so you know which places i mean. another thing i'd like to point out, is how you keep items palmed and you make it bit too obvious when you hide them, those "weird" movements where you put your "empty" hand near a pocket or sleeve, it's a dead giveaway that you put/took something, you should conceal those moments better. still nicely done and i'm sure it takes years of practice. that's why it stuns most people, they couldn't do this even if you showed them exactly what you did.
