Awesome. Thanks for watching. The 1887 and 1901 Winchester Lever Action Shotguns are my favorite shotguns. I have the two originals in my videos and also a Norinco. I’m planning on getting a Cimarron once they bring out the longer barreled versions.

That is awesome and yes, I was able to purchase this gun and have it shipped right to me. Someone redone the gun many years ago but it's beautiful and I am happy to have it. Thank you for the comment. I too love the 87. I’ll do a video on my loading process for the brass shells. It’s rather simple at the moment. Since this is a fairly new process for me I am sure it will evolve over time but for now I use a crude method with crude tools. I’ll try to do that video soon. I tried to buy a Chiappa version about a month or two ago but the owner of the gun shop had recently passed away and they could not actually sell them till they got their FFL transferred to his wife. That day I went home and started looking for an original. I haven’t loaded smokeless yet with the brass shells but will for other shotguns soon. I have reloaded for rifle and pistol for a while but new to reloading for shotguns.

@@JWheeler331 Thx for your quick answer. I’ve been reloading brass for handguns and rifles for years, but never for shotguns. I am always interested to benefit from other people’s experience. The only reason why I want to start reloading shell for shotguns is for my 1887 Winchester replica. And that’s only for brass shell. I am eager to see your next video on reloading brass shells for shotguns. Keep going. Thx in advance.

Thanks. I am very please with the way it looks and shoots. I haven’t tried any smokeless in it. I’m sure it would be fine with light loads. I read that the pressure curve in smokeless can be hard on them but I don’t have enough experience with them to really know.

@@JWheeler331 U have a gen 1887 i can see that from a mile based on the connection of the mag tube and barrel plus ure wood on the barrel/mag tube has 2 screws and u have a extra small small screw near the big screw close to the barrel on 1 side that indicates its a 2th gen 1897..... From what i learned as buying the guns in the usa and repairing selling these guns here in the netherlands named Winchester model 87/93 (and 97 in certain degree) is that ure barrel is identical to a 1897 barrel meaning they are made equal but the gun they where used on that made the diffence in machine work (a 87 barrel is screwed in 2x full revolutions more then a 93/97 is and then cut out of the extactors are diffent and the headspace is a bit diffent but u can modifie a 97 barrel to fit a 87 not visa versa.. U can shoot smokeless without any problems as the action....is a John Browning design and finding anything stronger means u have a life long task and u will never succeed...

@@Berniessen I actually tan the serial number on this one after making the video. It was made in 1895 as it is 56*** I was aware that the 97 barrels could be made to fit these 87s.

I make my own shells using brass shells from Magtec. I have a brass shotshell video on my channel as well. You should definitely make a video of yours so we can check it out.

@JWheeler331 The reason I asked is that I just acquired one, and I'm debating having it boiled and buffed to conserve the bluing the way Mark Novak does on the Anvil Gunsmithing channel. Yours is lot prettier than mine.

This is an original 1887 Shotgun.

I know and that’s why I want 1887 shotgun with no longer barrel just a shorter barrel within stock and that was it.

@@Ultranvirus8937 I don’t sell guns and prices vary depending on a lot of things so you’d just have to search around for what you’re looking for and see what you can get it for.

I’m sure this one was redone at some point long ago. They came with case color hardened frames. Not blued.

My dad left me the Winchester Lever and older brother got the first Browning/Winchester. I got the best one imo. Dad did a good dang job with the guns he kept in the fam for as long as he had ‘em.
