About Sheepdog Response:
Sheepdog Response was founded by Green Beret, Special Forces, Sniper, and former top 5 UFC Middleweight, Tim Kennedy. Tim was also the co-star of Hunting Hitler on the History Channel, and more recently, Hard To Kill, on the Discovery Channel.
People face threats of violence every day, ranging from large-scale terrorism to one-on-one assaults. Most people are unprepared, unequipped, and untrained to respond effectively. This weakness in the flock allows the wolves to attack with great ease and success.
The answer is not more laws. The wolves don’t follow them. We must give the good guys the tools they need to effectively respond to violence. The more Sheepdogs we can train to be truly ready to respond to a mass shooting, terrorist attack, violent mugging or home invasion, the better the chances are that the bad guys will get what they deserve and the good guys will survive. Most people sign up for martial arts or weapons training expecting to learn realistic self-defense, and few get it…
We have developed a curriculum that addresses the skills you need to successfully respond to threats

Practice walking like this on a treadmill while watching a TV, it has been a great way to practice it for me.

Great content Sheepdog Team! For all the people confused, the point is to walk from the knees/heel-toe to reduce the shock transfer to the arms. Try to imagine moving laterally or at an angle the same way- it makes accuracy a lot easier overall.

In the words of the great Pat McNamara, "Why are you dropping your gun, the target didnt fall to the ground". See his range theatrics video for everything they are doing wrong.

Have you not listened to Tim Kennedy? He always talks about following the bad guy to the ground but only if he’s falling to the ground. He never saids to just follow your gun to the ground just to do it.

Learned this in the .80's but always a great skill if you can use it in a close quarters, violent encounter. Rare is that person who can employ it in an immediate proximity deadly civilian fight. Learned a lot about realistic handgun fight skills (and teaching them) in a firearms instructor guide book titled "Beyond the Muzzle", written by a retired police firearms/fight instructor named Bettis. Not sure where I got it but a search should find it. I'm not an instructor but I enjoyed it anyway.

The duckwalk we learn in fencing, is much, much better, because not only do you have the upper body stability, but you have a highly agile footing, that facilitates movement in all directions. Though, I don't know why I would walk toward a threat and increase their accuracy?

In a fight there's a lot of reasons you'd move forward, your own safety could be one, assuming you have no cover or concealment available it might be the only option

I'm sure Pat MacNamara is impressed by the "follow target to ground" theatric.

This instructor is just showing these guys a foundation not telling them to walk like that in a fire fight completely ,but I would think if your laying down offensive fire in order to get to another position the accuracy of firing your gun while walking in a line like that wouldn’t allow the other guy to shoot back at you until you get into your next position and reload. These are just my speculations I have never been in a fire fight.

TTPs are tools, we have to make decisions on what tools we need to employ. Shooting on the move is very demanding, and doesn't apply to every situation. As citizens, we're responsible for EVERY round we send out.

The thing about having to walk like you're in a FST (field subriety test) it wont help you to flinch out from extremely dangerous situations. You will get your legs all missed up when trying to flinch out of a situation you cannot handle. So good luck with walking like in an fst test.

but the point of it is repetition. repetition breeds muscle memory. once you’ve got it drilled into you and becomes as normal as breathing... training takes over in those situations.

They dropped this from what I understand and it was not in my Pro II class last month. I have trained this and it is hard and I think will make a person a better shooter, but most people will not do it.

Do you have to be someone that works with a gun (or any other weapon) to participate in this courses? Do you have to bring your own gun?

I believe they take anyone but a general rule I heard is you should never go to these types of things with zero knowledge because it means the instructors need to spend extra time with you and it's unfair for the rest of the participants. You're better off going to the website in the description box.

Wouldn't walking in a straight line makes you an easier target? Even tho you're a moving target, they can know exactly where you're going.

Sorry, I apologize I thought it was Mr. Tim Kennedy in that mustache and beard in a other shooting segment earlier then the instructor here called him Scott. Whew, I am so glad to know it is not Mr. Tim Kennedy. I made a comment earlier that Mr. Tim Kennedy did not look good in a beard and mustache. He look so much better clean shaven and no tattoos.

Could be wrong but this seems like nonsense? The sobriety walk just seems unnecessary, as long you walk from the knees rather that the hips you won’t have a problem surely. The sobriety walk just seems to be an extra detail you don’t need and provides you with less balance and structure, or am I wrong?

Man, a lot of shit talking on here for people that have never tried it. Sure, it may seem odd, unstable, or unnatural, but he's right. Of course, you don't "have" to be perfectly heel-toe, but the point is to minimize sway. Try it before ya knock it, gentlemen.

I don’t always agree with everything this channel puts out, but I usually take away a few points and at least try them. This on the other hand is horrible advice. Walking like that creates an unstable platform. You can’t move if you fall down. When stress is high and the adrenaline is going, walking like this is only going to create problems. Self defense shooting is not precision shooting.

I'm starting to think he's teaching these weird methods just to stand out from all the other KZfaq instructors....mission accomplished. I don't picture myself walking in that heel to toe fashion dude,I just don't,I'm sorry...maybe with feet close together, but not one in front of the other, seems like an awesome way to trip myself for no reason.....unless,after you trip, you barrel roll then pop up,then address the threat...might be what this is leading to.
