Thanks Omar! You did the best job I've seen at showing the image & video quality you can achieve with this lens. You're explanation of the contrasting pros & cons, versus the 16mm 1.4 and 8 to 16 mm, is concise, balanced and useful. I think this is my next lens purchase...

I use the 10-24 often for landscapes as my 16mm looks great but the ability to zoom just a little (or a lot) helps with waterfalls. BTW I always get a smile on my face when YTers add some family to their outings it just adds so much to see family time.

If you are new to super-wide and get this lens definitely practice before using it on vacation. I made the mistake of not knowing it and lost many shots under 14mm not knowing how to manage distortion. Amazing lens. I’m tempted by it again but takes some good reps if you are an amateur.

I know this was made 4 years ago, but this is a beautiful and fun review. I'm late to the game and on a budget so I just bought an X-H1 a month ago and I purchased a 10-24mm yesterday on Ebay, and I am very excited. I can't wait to use this lens on my X-H1. I live in Northern Maine on the coast, so I have plenty of landscape subject matter to work with. I wrestled internally over the F4 aspect this lens before deciding to buy it because I almost never use a flash for my personal photography. As a police officer I normally on use a flash when taking crime scene photos. However, the 16mm will be my next purchase when I can afford it, and it is equally as versatile in its own way (low light shooting). Thank you for all of your videos, but especially this one. Ps. I actually attended a ball at the Rosecliff.

Your family is so good to let you photograph them while testing/demoing this lens. I do a lot of landscape and churches so have given this lens some serious consideration. Do wish it had the weather sealing, as I'd like to use it from some stormscapes. Thanks for another video, btw like the addition of some music with the video.

Damir Burnac interesting you should say that. I’m planning to take those two lenses as well on my next holiday. I’m still debating, however, to also bring my 35mm F/2.0 which will cover low light situations better, but violates my personal rule not to travel with more than 2 lenses. 😀

Phenomenal videos of the Rhode Island mansions. My wife took time out to see the mansions when we were both in Rhode Island vicinity, while I was conducting business. She raved about the mansions and wanted me to see them also. I declined and we both drove back to New York. After seeing your presentations of the mansions I will make it a point to check them out. The mansions rival the French originals. The use of the Fujinon 10-24mm wide-angle zoom lens was phenomenally sharp. Just subscribed.

I love prime lenses for their IQ, their size and their weight. So I ordered a used Zeiss 12mm Touit from KEH and if it is as great as some of the review indicate it is, I'll be keeping it and selling my Fuji 10-24mm. I tried a Samyang 12mm lens and it was fine for exterior shots in nice sunlight, but I wasn't pleased by how it handled interior shots, so returned it for the Zeiss. Wish me luck....

Nice video, Omar. Have a suggestion for a video. Lately there's been some talk about crop factor. More and more people understand the differences between a full frame camera and a crop sensor camera. But it would be fun to see in practice what it really means. I'm one of those who's thinking of switching from FF camera to a Fuji APS-C system. And personally I'm really looking forward to the upcoming Fuji 16-80mm f4 lens. But I also realize that f4 will not be what I'm used to (in terms of DoF mostly). Would be great to see in practice what I'm going to miss or maybe not miss when I switch. Thanks!

I love this lens personally. The f/4 doesn't really bother me as the lion's share of my photography are outdoors and landscapes and for that type of work I rarely shoot below f/5.6 That is just me. Coming from a Nikon D810 I find this setup light as a feather (comparatively speaking). I do wish the lens was weather sealed though. That does seem to be something of an inexplicable omission on a landscape focused lens. Would it have impacted the cost appreciably? I don't know. I can say the lens is sharp, focuses fast and can also produce some excellent portraits - although that being said the bokeh or lack thereof might be a turn off to portrait pro shooters. All around a great lens. Like you I tend to prefer shooting wide. Great video!

@Argolich
@Argolich 5 жыл бұрын
@@robertcudlipp3426 that is always an option - but for landscape photographers that lousy, dramatic weather is often the best for photographs. Oddly enough the 100-400 mm lens is both weather sealed and has OIS. It just seems like an odd omission for a lens expected to be used extensively outdoors to not be weather resistant. It is a wonderful lens and I am not complaining about it. It is one of my favorites.

Hey Omar, I have two questions: 1. When you take interior pictures with this lens - do you think that it OIS will help you get a slower shutter speed than the 8-16mm F2.8 that Fuji released recently? In other words, how many stops of OIS in picture mode do you get with this? Because as you said yourself, in some dark rooms F4 is not enough. Now, I can see this being true in video but if you only care about pictures perhaps the OIS will let you shoot at a slower shutter speed, while still getting sharp images, than the F2.8 would, right? 2. What about this lens versus the 14mm F2.8 prime lens that Fuji makes and everyone loves so much. It is wider than the 16mm F1.4 and it is supposed to be super sharp. It is also smaller than both the 10-24 and the 16 F1.4 But the question is: is it wide enough? Is 21mm enough? Thanks very much for your video and your take on my questions! ;-) I am considering buying either the 8-16mm F2.8, or the 10-24 F4 you loved so much, or the 14mm F2.8 - for the wider shots together with the 16mm F1.4 - for low light.

That music takes my heart away...love it Omar, I need some advice on what lens to buy next. I have the 18-55 kit lens and I usually do urban architecture and some nature every now and then and I have a tging for wide angle shots. I wanted to get the 16mm 1.4 but I read it is not wide enough. I am confused if I should the 10-24 f4 or a zoom 55-200mm. Just need some versatility for my photography. Sometimes taking close up shota of cityscapes gives a diff feel to the photos and wide qngle photos are no brainer..always awesome. I have a Note 10+ that does extreme wide angle shots and I use that often. What do you think? You recommend any primes for close up shots of cityscapes or the zoom or the 10-24mm?

These are really excellent images. I started watching on my phone and then switched to my desktop - way better on the desktop! I have rented the 10-24 as well as the 16mm 1.4 for my XT-2. Both were a little too large for me and the lack of a marked f-stop ring on the 10-24 was a real drawback (as it is on the 18-55). I did get the Samyang (Rokinon) 12mm and that is a very impressive lens and using the focus peaking on the Fuji is pretty cool. I am eagerly looking forward to the new 16mm f2. it sounds like quite a bargain. I do think that with the 12 and the 16, my wide angle needs will be well met. BTW, my last comment to you was pretty negative and acerbic-unnecessarily so. I do humbly apologize. I did learn an important lesson however. Never write comments on You Tube videos immediately upon getting home from work. Seriously, nothing good can come from it. Your'e still my favorite You Tube photography channel.

Got the combo X-H1 (same sensor as X-T2) and the Fuji 10-24mm. What are your experiences with focus modes? AF-C is quite unusable for video, permanent focus hunting. Has anybody else the same issue?

Nice review - as always :) . Almost considered this lens but then decided on the xf16-55. That on the xt20, is huge. Tried a friend's 8-16mm on the xt20, it's yuuugggeeee .....

Gorgeous stuff. Even though it isn't weather resistant, would you recommend it over the 16 1.4?

I want to buy into the fuhi system but still hesitant about that x-trans sensor. If its that good why didnt they use it in their medium format camera"s?

Omar! How does buying this lens effect how much you use your Rokinon? I'm guessing the convenience of the zoom will cause you to shelve your 12mm, even though the Rokinon is faster? Thanks for the AWESOME channel!
