The 80s Subaru cars and older are almost completely gone from existence. Practically faded away to time. I’m surprised to see this in such good condition.

Didn’t they have air adjustable suspension? Back in the 1980’s my mom did some decorating work for a guy who owned Chevrolet and Subaru dealership. For a while he was driving a 5 speed 4wd XT Turbo. One day when he left his driveway he floored it and spun all 4 tires.

I had one of these with the manual transmission and it is the BEST car I ever had! It had so much pep- wasn't a bit slow like you say. It was the most reliable car, too - very few repairs. I had it for 20 years, 220,000 miles and it was still in primo condition, until a stupid boyfriend wrecked it in 2007. I would love to have it back. The emblem on the back of yours isn't original, though.

The fact the gauges move with the steering wheel reminds me of that one generation of Infiniti, I think it was the G35 where the gauges move with the steering wheel

Mine was a 5 Speed Turbo 2wd and It was quite enjoyable. The Fan switch near the parking brake is so wacky.

Except they did when they phased out the non-turbo EJs that had said issues about 10 years ago... took a couple decades but they figured it out

@@anthonykiedis1765 It can still happen but these days it's pretty rare, the early-mid 2010s FBs burned oil and if it's a turbo you might throw a rod bearing or two, but hey the head gaskets will probably be fine. I had a family member with a 2018 that blew a rod bearing at 40k miles and was just slightly out of warranty. Luckily it was covered because it was five digits worth of parts and labor.

My theory of the steering wheel design was for ease of the left hand to move along the wheel, with the 'bump' as a center return.. the right hand would be busy on that 3-speed auto. XD (debunked of course, the RHD had the same wheel)

Friend of mine had one of those in blue. He liked it but his GF didn't so he traded it for Nissan 240. And he crashed it within short time lol. Good man but terrible driver he was.

Cool car but the looks wrote checks the powertrain couldn't cash. Subaru tried to make a halo car but they weren't big enough yet to pull it off. The column-mounted switchgear and digital dash are very 80s though putting the fan and temperature separately by the handbrake is weird. Besides the head gasket issues, these rusted like an old American car. If you're going to collect one model of car, the XT is certainly conversation worthy.

my favorite looking car , least favorite trans, that 3eat is canned dog food my loyale has 302k miles has external head gasket leak but not dead yet! 7:22 moon roof 8:13 kinda looks like a honda accord /prelude and a little similar to toyota mr2 i love the doors on this car this car is super aero dynamic

Totally…These disappeared Completely! I had an ‘86 GL Wagon with a 4Low t-case and it went ANYWHERE! Then I had an 88 GL-10 Wagon that was WAY under trannied! It only had 3 speed and when you got to about 80mph it was Tapped out at 6k rpm…THEN I had a ‘90 Legacy Turbo that was a Cool car.

What’s with that “R/MINl” digital readout at the upper left? It says 800, then 750, and so on in the video clip. The speed of the heater fan? LOL. But seriously, I can’t think of what it could be used for. It’s not the turbo, because that’s typically measured in boost pressure/PSI (and is already represented by the bar graph on the right).
