Great film but Mr Neville would do well to remember these are living creatures that we have the privilege to shoot at and the responsibility to kill cleanly. They’re not ‘targets’ and if they’re being pricked consistently then they’re too high.

Having lived in the UK and shot a few of these high birds it’s hard to explain to Americans just how incredible this shooting really is. That said I hunt wild birds over a 75 lb English Setter out of the Old Hemlock Line. Hunting over a true English Setter is an incredible experience! Miss my old syndicate days albeit our highest ever birds were only 50 yards up!😊👍🏻

Have just been advised Briley Plasma Chokes if that is what is in Ross's Kreighoffs not tested for heavy game loads ? Designed primarily for clay target shooting.Muller Ceramics have the same specs but they do advise max loads although not exactly in ''big letters''.Maybe worth passing on to Hugo.

Great days shooting I see Alex Brant and Renata Coleman there the had a mainly duck shoot over here in Ireland called humewood I spent many a good day there loading and beating along with foxing

Archangels for sure.Really enjoyed the show along with R & H presenting. Not sure about the logic of fibre wads on birds of this calibre.Interested to know the Plasma Choke cartridge combinations as see H slipping different cartridge in the bottom barrel from time to time.

I have to say fibre at that kind of range 1/6-1/10 is that really what it's about,maybe slightly jealous ! and I shoot a lot .is that really sporting !!there has to be a lot of pricked birds.

Birds are too high. Better suited to a ten bore. We will only have ourselves to blame when the antis get their sights zoomed in on this type of high bird shoot. Other than that I enjoyed the video. The statement at 21.55 says it all, there is a craving for one in ten kill ratios , personally I do not like to miss 9 and shoot 1. Luck plays a major part in this video. Sorry for being negative but their is not much consideration for wounded birds.

Any "experienced" shot who misses that many birds is either a poor shot or the birds are out of range.

I used to shoot, mainly Wood Pigeon and Rabbit, and I was lucky enough to be invited on a Pheasant shoot which was enjoyable, however in the end I was overcome by the expense of the exercise as I see Pigeon and Rabbit as pest control, something I am not in a position to pay for, so I mainly only go ferreting when I can get some for free. Looking at this Video was an education for me on what is right and wrong about driven birds. It seems to me that this is business and not a sport as it has been suggested many times in the video. I am not against people who can afford to shoot driven game and like to shoot, and it most certainly should be challenging, however there were lots of birds in this video going away that had been hit and that is not a good advert for shooting. While I wouldn't want to see driven game shooting band as I know full well there wouldn't be any Pheasant or Partridge etc and all the good conservation work that goes with it, I feel it is time that much more care should be taken on what is put over this channel. It must be remembered that these birds are living creatures and not just a target and should be respected.

How come you don't let Hugo shoot a few?

Often amongst shooting circles there is talk of that famous question “are big bags bad publicity for shooting” and to be quite honest I don’t think there’s any problem with big bags providing they go back into the food chain which we know they do. I think the real issue shooting faces is these exceptionally high bird shoots where the guns just prick bird after bird it’s inhumane and unfair to our quarry and we as a community need to regulate ourselves and get it in hand before we give fuel to antis who are looking for anything to stop us

S pent years picking up with springers get back far enough behind guns and you can pick nearly all pricked birds if you have good dogs

Great film. Lovely birds. Having read the comments though I sympathise. We all hate nothing more than a pricked bird. At this height, as Ross said, the margin is very small. But just think back to any snipe, woodcock, ducks, etc. rough shooting we have wounded over the years or lost on retrieve at much smaller ranges. It's a sad part of the sport - something I really struggle with some days. But the only way for a "clean" kill is an abbatoir. We don't want that. The birds deserve a chance and a life. At the end of the day when we go to shoot, we have to enjoy the sport, do what is sustainable, do our best to kill cleanly, shoot within our limits and value the meat we do retrieve. The rest is like life - tough luck at times. I think this film was respectful to the this type of sport but it is all a balance of the above to give shooting a good, quarry appreciating name. Thank you for the film that did a decent job of that.

Personally don’t count it as a eye wipe if you’re back gun. Not the same as if you’re in the line!

Maybe it's camera angles and such but it seems that they let lower birds pass while concentrating on extremely high birds. Am I seeing things or are these "high bird" shoots just that: "the higher, the better"?

Is that a Trap gun? Better on a DTL layout?

A lot of talk of pricked birds.....more lightly a clean miss at that range!

What's the gun?

By the looks of things, more attention should be given to average range birds and clean kills as opposed to extreme range with obviously lots of misses and pricked birds. If your not capable, don't shoot it.

Too many pricked birds just to feed the egos of a bunch of well healed that does the image of our sport no good at all.

This isn't pleasant to watch really. I'm a syndicate shooter myself, so don't take me for a raving anti. These birds are too high and should not be being shot at, how many of the poor blighters end up dying slowly from a prick (in both senses of the word) just for some better 'sport'. It's shoots like this that will get our passion banned.

No wonder shooting is under constant pressure - so many birds here pricked and destined to die in agony - to suggest that, at these ranges, you are likely to kill clean or miss clean is total folly. Been shooting for 40+ years but this turns my stomach.

Too much talk more concentration and stop canting the gun - you will double your average. One in six is a waste of cartridges.

1in10! Disgusting! I’m surely you are all good shots; at sporting ranges, therefore you are trying to hit birds out of ballistic range. Hitting 1in 6 ; how many wounded 5 at a guess. Enjoying the day; how about the wounded birds in the pen when when you are Getting pissed up, 1 biggy and loads of arssed birds.
