I needed to create some storage space for hardware, electrical wiring, etc... My thought was to utilize the dead area underneath the building purlin to build this storage area. This is what I came up with. I hope some of you can utilize this idea for your own storage needs.

After the apocalypse, the only thing left standing, will be Ben's hardware storage space. Great use of space.

Man, Ben, your building/fabricaton skills are awesome. I think a video on how your learned all these skills would be cool, i.e. your training chronologically. Man, skilled tradesmen are so much better than college graduates with worthless degrees and tons of tuition debt. College these days, isn't worth it unless, you get a STEM degree, major in accounting (and get your CPA). Going into the trades, is such a better option for a LOT of people.

Great project. What are the nails that you used to anchor the bottom brackets into the cement floor?

Thanks for sharing. Compared to yours, I see I am over-equipped with three Leathermans when I’m only concerned with infrequent home repairs.

This is awesome - I really, really appreciate your videos, so please don't take this as negative: Are you aware of the rails that these bins are made to be mounted on? I run my business part storage with acrobins, and the rails/brackets are super nice and easy to install. You do have some advantages with your shelving, but I wanted to make sure you were aware of the rails that are made to simply screw into the wall and then have the bins hang off of. Zoro has pretty good prices, and that is where I buy them all. The clear bins are the strongest, for use with heavy parts. Thank you for all you do, I very happily now carry a surge and all the accoutrements because of you. A HUGE upgrade from my gerber. I would love to have you evaluate my inventions, but they are not shop tools, they are defensive tools. Look up the Flux Raider if you are interested, she is my baby. Again, your videos are very appreciated by all of us who know of them, thank you.

I thought of something like this but the dust discourages me. Then I thought about making “drapes” out of the pile of translucent welding curtains I’ve had wasting space for years, trimmed to length, cut to 2’ or so with hanging grommets and/or a curtain rod situation so they could get out of the way. Idk

jeremy ballin yea but I’ve had the curtains wasting space for years and the company I used to work for loved to toss things so I got most of them for free, shit if I had room I could have had the $1200 cabinet they went in to.

Hello, Ben - I did not realize that you needed to secure space for materials before placing your machines in their stations - is your set-up just in this area, or will you be placing others around the shop? I can see that setting everything up is not an easy task - and you know exactly what you are doing...Nice!

I have a lot of things to set up. I will probably be making more shelves, similar to these, in different areas of the shop.

Now we have to assess your welding skills. The ultimate test is welding gum wrappers or tin foil.

Why, don't you keep the wire and cable reels on a bar/tube instead of the shelf 9:48? May make it nicer to access, unless you need to move them around.

I may go that route in the end.
