All the other woodworking videographers have the same screw-ups. You are the first one I've watched that actually shares. My hat is off to you and I feel better about my screw-ups.

This is one of those fantastic examples that teaches us all the tremendous value of cutting & test-fitting on scraps, and also testing finishes on scraps of our proposed materials BEFORE we actually build the piece. That way we know exactly what we're in for once we get rockin' & rollin' on the project. Sure it's an extra 1/2 hour or more up front, but it saves sooo much time on the back end. Thank you for teaching all of us through your own experience!!!

I like the shelves and appreciate you including the mistakes because they are a great example to always be thinking ahead. I know that for me, about the time I start think I am killing a project something is going to be messed up.

Just subscribed because you showed the woe's of woodworking as you went not the typical "look I have a scrap piece now I'll whittle an entire dinning room set with my razor knife flawlessly!" Good stuff keep it up.

Welcome to the club. I recently had a project like this where the dividers didn't fit either. All I did was put a straight bit in the router table and just grazed the edges, top and bottom of one side, until it fit.

Thanks for NOT editing your goof ups out like some guys would do. If it is any help it makes me feel better now knowing I am not the only one that does that kind of stuff. Good video and glad to see you back.

It is refreshing to see someone let the mistakes be part of the final video. In fact, I think you may be unique in that aspect. It can be discouraging to see all these videos where everything is just perfect and than I try to do it and screw it up.

I can't count the many times I had it in my "head what I want it to be" and when I built it " it wasn't close :) But then again, problem solving 'juices' kicked in, & everything was fine. You sir have a job, well done!

All those fixes were worth it. The cabinet looks nice, doing all those fixes says a lot about you and your channel. I've seen other woodworkers that don't give a damn about their mistakes, and just go and upload the video with them.

In the end Ryan it came out great. I really appreciate your honesty. I think we all run into this. I did it for a shop project to save $10.00 boy I'm I so glad I only bought 1 sheet I'll pay 10 dollars more or more for quality. My opinion only. Great job keep up the great work.

It's nice to see I'm not the only one that screws stuff up once in a while! haha Good idea for a shop project. I like the hardwood trim; it adds a touch of class to the workshop. I did the same with oak trim on some melamine base cabs. Plus, like @NickFerry points out, it's good to try different or new things on shop projects to add to our skill set. Everything we do is practice for the next time!

I did a cabinet for my powertools. It's shitty compared to yours, but it get's the job done. I really like that you show all your mistakes, puts the end product in perspective :)

Couldn't agree more about imported plywood. I bought some pre-finished import plywood and after cutting it broke out in a terrible rash all over. That would have been bad enough, but every piece I cut warped most bad enough not to be able to use.

Nice, having all that easy access for your tools is awesome! I feel your pain on the cabinet, I built a cabinet not too long ago that was a complete disaster, the problems just seemed to snowball. It starts to make you question your abilities lol.

Hindsight is the cleverest sight to have, however I have an observation. You might have been better off gluing either another piece of that crappy ply inside the end verticals over the paper side to cover it up. If that takes too much room, then maybe a piece of MDF or Masonite. Just a thought. Admire you sticking to get the job finished, my jobs usually blow out in time as well. Cheers, Grand Gaz

The real videos are always the best! Way to persevere. If you have a sec could you elaborate a little on the divider slots? I watched that part of the vid and didn't notice any jigs to keep them matched. The other thing was cutting the dividers? I always get nervous when running something wider than deep against the fence. I try to incorporate the mitre gauge and block as well as wax the crap out of the saw table top.
