For optimizing image file size you also want to ensure that you are using the correct image file format. Oh you actually don't have to re upload the images with optimized text, one can just change the images name in the Content -> Files

When would it make sense to use a WEBP file type. Not exactly sure what the difference is between WEBP and JPEG/PNGs. I've seen a lot of stores use WEBPs

Does this mean that shopify's auto image optimization does not work? They say that they automatically optimize file compression and file type. However, I haven't found any indication of them actually doing anything and I've checked on many browsers. Files all load exactly as uploaded.
