If time travel we're possible you'd probably get away with it most of the time, no surveillance camera's or any other anti theft devices back then.

I'm a good honest guy, but I totally agree! And armed with today's knowledge and back thens lack of cameras/security measures, I think I could be a super thief back then. And placing some bets and buying stocks while I was there won't hurt either haha

Everyone gets caught sooner or later. I've arrested lots of professionals and amateurs. It's a game of hide and seek. Some people just have it and some don't. There's nothing better than arresting a professional in their trade.

Damn I’ve worked in loss prevention for the past 14 years and just realized that thieves have been using the same old tricks over the years. Also, interesting 🧐 to learn that there were junkies in the 1950s who stole just to support their drug habits.

Before they had alarms at the door. I don't think it was beyond 1960s technology it was before it was necessary. Because I remember when I was a small boy in the 1960s they had a electronic eye at the supermarket. I would walk through it just to hear it buzz till someone said hey kid stop playing with that lol.
@Hotshotter30009 ай бұрын
Wow, electronic eyes are that old? Fascinating. Also as for me, those things were highly inaccurate. I remember putting my gym gear (including stuff for the shower) and going to a pharmacy, the shit would always buzz for the stuff I brought into the store. No one cared.

This video was made when small businesses were the norm. And I agree don’t steal from small businesses or people but as for Walmart that’s a different story. Don’t really know who’s robbing who with them. What butheads instead of hiring more cashiers to fill the mostly empty registers, they treat everyone like a thief and force you to do the job of people they used to pay but prices have not come down. Corporate profit records on record margins. This video is out of touch with the current economy. As they say, back in the good old days days. Can you imagine what you could of bought for a dollar back then, but thanks to the federal reserve that same dollar doesn’t buy you a drink of water

My great-grandfather was arrested for shoplifting in Kansas in 1959… and received a 50-year prison sentence!! That might seem insane today, but statistically crime was much rarer back then… He passed away in prison during his 31st year of incarceration, at the age of 83… I miss him every day ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

They say once a thief, always a thief pre judging him as being unable to reform. It don't look at the bigger issues at play causing him to do that. Now he'd have a hard time finding work because criminal backgrounds go too deep into his business. While there may be times when a background check would be appropriate, it disproportionately affects minorities and adds to the problem of recidivism. In the name of protecting society, release from jail is undermines ad paying one's debt to society and when they not given chances, as they said the jail did nothing to help him whilst he was in there, it really does hurt the whole society more than it helps. I'll give an example. I'm in AA. Sometimes when a new person comes in, we know sometimes addicts steal to support their habits, yet we may very well give that person a church key and have them open up, make the coffee and set up. We demonstrate the faith in that person. Many people who were given the coffee position early on have stayed sober because of that. So why would we deny someone who stole, possibly out of desperation and having to survive, decent opportunities? Lemmetellu1thing. God don't like ugly. Everyone makes mistakes.
