The new RYOBI FVH61 USB Lithium Solder Pen gets to soldering temperature in just 40 seconds. Powered by the USB lithium 4V battery, this solder pen is small and easy to use. The fine tip and small battery makes this best used for smaller projects, but we made several solder joints without the battery indicator going to "low battery." You can get the RYOBI solder pen at The Home Depot starting in July 2023 for $70. #ryobitools #homedepot #review

You seemed to have missed an entire area of soldering. PCB boards. It seems that the thin tip would be perfect for small circuit boards. Loosening solder and resoldering components.

I like that the Milwaukee one still has the indicator light on after you turn it off until it cools down enough to touch.

Nice portable solder iron. What part # was that cordless scissor tool you used to open the package? I could use one of those too.

I have three WELLA mains power solder irons (S,M.L), got the 18V Ryobi as a present two years ago and have not used the WELLER ones since use the Ryobi one Several time a week. Will definitely buy this as a portable solder iron to take with me or for those sick jobs.

I use the Milwaukee m12 regularly and it’s great. But, she’s a hefty one. Having this little number would be so nice.

Flux only goes on the solder joint. I can’t say I’ve ever seen anyone dip the tip in flux. 😮

I was taught (US Navy nuclear soldering school, yes they had one back in 1978) to use enough heat to get the solder to wick into the braid. Quick and easy is best. I suspect that this tool, when used on a printed circuit board would take too long and the component being soldered would overheat. When I need to solder without power being handy, I take my Weller temperature controlled soldering station and my ryobi 1+ inverter to do the job.

I definitely would get one or two to keep one at home and another in the glove box.

IF you can solder a few PL-259 Coaxial Cable connectors with it , then perhaps it would be worth getting, as I used to use a Weller Port-a-sol Butane soldering iron.

Pretty interesting design. I have a Pinecil USB C iron in my portable toolkit. It heats up much faster at 20v, but it isn’t nearly as well designed mechanically. I may have to get the Ryobi.

not bad except forthe price. i got the 4v cordless one from harbor freight, which seems pretty comparable to this ryobi one. the HF one was $49 or $59 when it came out but quickly dropped to $39. no issues with the HF one, if the ryobi gets realistic with the price it might be a good buy. any mention of replacement tips in those manuals we never read?

Looks like good for really small gauge wire, maybe 12 gauge max?
@Shoptoolreviews

That's pretty accurate. 12ga would be the max I would use this for. Thanks for watching.

Now when is Milwaukee gonna come out with their version that uses red-lithium. Because their M12 soldering iron is a POS and is way to bulky and slow to heat up.

Seems like he couldn't be bothered to try different solder tin thicknesses. He just kept going on and on with the same solder job throughout the video.

The A126FCBT1 is the part number for the pack of 3 replacement tips and A126TC1 is the part number for the tip cleaner. These parts are not yet available from Ryobi because the soldering pen is so new. The tip is 51.45 mm long, so I'm almost sure it uses the 510 interface. I ordered a set of 3 510 soldering iron tips from Amazon for about $10 and intend to try them out until the official Ryobi ones are made available.

I got my 510 interface tips in from Amazon and can confirm that they work very well on this pen. The hoof tip carries more heat if you are attempting 10 gauge wire joints. I will gladly order the tips from Ryobi when they are available.

I have heard the milwaikee has issues with a part melting on it. Maybe they fixed it by now though? I love all things milwaukee and have a ton of their stuff but, that has kept me from buying the soldering iron.

I have quite a few RYOBI tools and am a fan. The price on this is awfully high but I like the design. I’m not giving up my radio shack butane soldering irons though. Those things will last years on a single charge of butane and it only cost me $19. But I do like the led light! When I’m doing small repairs/installs under the dashboard and such it would be perfect. By the way…read the directions and do the video over. Ya came off as awfully lazy on this video.

Overpriced piece of shit 🤣 The Ryobi soldering station with a 6ah battery only last 4 hours with 10 minute time outs so you know that this product isn't going to work all that well. Think I'll stick with my Weller Portasol butane soldering iron instead for portable jobs 😏
