The Fish Locker

4 ай бұрын

Shore fishing for Bass and Flounder is a British winter tradition. Finding some sheltered shore fishing in winter can really keep the love for angling alive during the dark and rainy months. Here I fish a new shore mark in an estuary targeting Flounder and Bass. I explain the rigs and baits I use and show how to unhook a deep hooked flatfish.
Don't forget to check out our sister channel @thefishlockerworkshop for helpful reviews and videos - including the video on how to make the flatfish disgorger.

You are a dedicated fisherman, respect bro. And to the people who disagree with fisherman whether it be river canal loch or sea , FISHERMAN are the gatekeeper of the waters, reporting pollution and stopping illegal fishing , these people have a love of nature 💕 most people don't understand.

Hi John another cracking video from you I've been sea fishing for 25 years or more from the boat and shore and I still learn something new after watching your presentations I also like the way you show that fishing can be done with the minimum amount of pain and suffering to the fish by the way you utilise a tub filled with water along with the way you use your disgorger to remove the hook without causing injury to the fish whether you are returning it to the sea or even if you intend taking it home to eat I wish more fisherman would adopt this method. Also with your knowledge and passion of fishing I think you should have your own fishing channel on tv im sure that you would generate a lot of interest in fishing you have probably forgotten more about fishing than most of the so called experts keep up the exelent work. Thanks Les.

I so love this channel! I live in the Western US, so my fishing is all inland high mountain streams and lakes for trout and salmon usually on a fly, so it is fascinating watching such a completely different style of fishing, and exotic species (at least exotic to me)...plus I am originally from the UK, so it brings me warm and fuzzy "back home" tingles. :)

Do you know something,John? If ever we were blown back for weather, we would do a quick drag on the edge Lune on the way home, and fill it up with flounders,(see the chart, Approaches to Fleetwood) We would then stem the boat, whilst waiting for the tide, on Fleetwood beach, selling "Fleetwood Halibuts" three for five bob to the passing grockels.

As ever John your observations about the tides, location and weather features etc tell a complete story and obviously come from someone who knows what he is talking about...from experience. We live and learn and if we fail to do this and retain and use this essential info, we fail in our endeavours. You seem to have the knack of being able to piece together all the parts of the jigsaw and that's most of the reason you managed to pull in those two bumper flounder at the beginning of this vid. Nice one John, keep up the good work.

The thing i liked most in this video John, is the respect towards your catch. When you don't take it home for the pot, one should treat the catch in the proper way and that is de way how you handle the fish. I have seen it in numerous times in your video's, but especialy in this video it showes the care you have for what you are doing towards the fish. A deep bow and hat of for that John. You are an example for many fisherman and i know why.👍👍👍. Greetz from Stipo from Holland

Thanks for another fun trip. Great flounder. I'll be out on the Hudson River next Saturday, but the water is so cold I doubt if I'll catch anything other than an oyster toadfish or a white perch. Haven't been fishing since the end of December, so I don't care. Just need a line in the water. Roll on the end of March and fishing in New Orleans!

Another amazing video! They sell Flounder in the restaurants around here, a very good mild tasty white meat. Wish I could catch them but I'm land locked for 100's of miles.

Greetings from Wisconsin John. Our last cold spell (down to where fahrenheit and celcius make friends with each other) has ended the Great Lakes shipping season but firmed up our ice fishing. Some day I look forward to a video of you over here working a hole in the ice.

As a kid with not much money back in the 80,s we used to use earth worms as bait...........caught everything on them and they were easy to collect from my nanas lawn after a downpour.........any good still?

Flounder fishing isn’t what it was 10 years ago mate. You used to be sure of at least half a dozen prime fish per session. 2-3lbers were common. Seals have ruined lots of areas.
