While I was transitioning from relaxed hair to my natural hair, I underwent a similar style process - twice, though not a pixie cut - that lasted until I left the salon. The first time due to moisture outside the salon, my hair went limp almost immediately. The 2nd time it looked silken and luxuriant for about an hour - long enough to be photographed; then it reverted. So on both occasions, less than eight/24 hours! But years ago when I was going salt and pepper, I had a hairdresser who did a bang-up job by mildly texturizing my curls to loosen them and then style my pixie cut with the blow dryer and a bristle brush. That always worked until the next cut. #nowilovemygraynatural😊

🤷🏽‍♀️ I mean I think it could have been straightened better. I’ve seen natural hairstylist straightened the kinkiest hair and coarser hair and it’s LAID!! I’ve heard that it all starts with the product you use and the blow drying part that will give you the flat, straighten hair. However, the back didn’t look so bad. I wish we could have seen the finished look

I have a pixie and am natural. I go through almost the same process but minus the hot comb. Lasts a good 1.5 weeks if I use a silk scarf. This is only obtainable in the fall, winter and early spring. I have super soft thin hair. I’m trying my hardest not to perm it. Perming it would guarantee a longer lasting style as well as enable me to do my own hair at home. Nonetheless I’ve vowed against perms.

Moving slowly with the flat iron, and a style off the forehead will add to the durability of this change. Bath in moderate temperatures of water will also help. Showering is a no - no until the hair becomes trained. To help train hair style roll hair up with smaller hair rollers and tie hair up after removing rollers for a few moments if rollers cause hair to be too tight.

She stated she's only showing about 80% of the style and would continue "silking". Key word "silking". A common process for silking is to straighten comb the hair, then flat iron the hair, 'dry' wrap the hair, wrap it with Saran wrap and place client under dryer to heat mold it. Depending on elements; moisture; and oily vs dry skin type determines the style retention. Less humidity/oils would preserve the style for up to a week. Pixies are high maintenance whether you're natural or not though

I'm getting my hair done exactly like this. I was searching for a video in which the oersons hair is close to mine. I donthave as much grey, but, the texture is twinning. Thanks for sharing. I often use sleek n shine line from Garnier. I will only flat iron or re curl my hair twice and then brush it down when it's done being straight. My ionic heat brush usually straightens my hair enough to make it smooth. I very rarely put mousse on my hair after it's straightened. My hair would fight everything coming it's way to pop eight back up into those tight couls. Lol

Big facts I barely do leave outs because once I blink I become Big Red from The Five Heartbeats... lol and I've always been like that even when I was getting relaxers...my hair just don't last in curls. Trust me its nothing more embarrassing than walking aroung with two textures hair...well in my case it is... To each its own. So I just wear big curly wigs to blend in my natural hair if need to. Again you are right and great job on trying as well as your honesty... Keep up thr good work...Jah Bless

It’s been 3 weeks since I got my natural hair cut and styled. It’s still good, I hit it with the flat iron if it gets moist but I’ve been using a durag when I’m in the house. I went to the Dominicans though and idk if they use different tools/techniques. Essentially she used a blow dryer and flat iron to my curls. I know my hair starts getting frizzy if it’s moist out though and on those days I wish o had a perm

Hello Crystal ... Try cutting after the blow out with hot comb. If she is going to where it natura state ( curly) just cut it curly. What you are doing here is wasting your time and process to end up with curly hair. It does need to be straight for a precise cut. My hair is tighter than hers I cut it with clippers today. First time and it is natural and salt and pepper. Just a suggestion. I'll be your model when mine grows out. 😘

There is a thing that’s called “ heat memory”. I had a client with a greater density, but the same curl type. I gave her the exact same explanation. But I also had her commit to coming into the salon every week for 4 weeks. This caused the hair to be “trained”. That’s what the hairstylist back in the day called it. We now call it heat memory.

there are some stylists who do not have the correct heated implements for afro short hair in terms of size and quality. i have been quoted a price tmfir a procedure only to find because I handed over a note of high denomination was then told that price had increased double the price as she did not want to return my change. she did a poor job and I had to return minus any charges. i always check the products that are used in the salon before booking given some use cheap products and charge high prices. Not all afro hairdressers can manage natural hair and always feel the need to incorporate chemicals that alters the structure of your hair so choose and watch your stylist carefully.
