Short Takes: 2004 Audi A4 1.8T 6-speed Ultra Sport (Start Up, Engine, Full Tour)

In continuation of my "Short Takes" video series at All City Auto, I give a tour of a 2004 Audi A4 Ultra Sport. I take viewers on a close look through the interior and exterior of this car while showing details, over viewing of features, and noting unique styling cues to the vehicle itself. I also show the engine and the details of it, start it up and see how it sounds under acceleration. A thorough tour/review of this car designed to give others a greater overall appreciation of the vehicle.

my dad has this one, bought it year 2006, we've had it since then and will probably keep it! It's an outstanding car and believe me, it will run through the years, no problems ever with it so far! :) Perfect first car now!

Yes, there's different modes it scrolls through with the buttons on the side of the windshield wiper controls. There's time driven (this also warns you if you drive more than 2 hours without a break), current MPG, average MPG, average speed and remaing distance until empty. The display also shows radio info and warnings such as gas and maintenance. You can program it to warn you if you go over a certain set speed. It will tell you if there is a light out (and exactly where)...and a lot more!

I have a 2008 A4 2.0T S-line with Tiptronic. It's good to see a mid-mileage A4 that is in good order with many of the same toys mine has. I absolutely love my A4, it conquers the road as well as any Mercedes we have had, but delivers the agility I came to expect when I had my BMW. I have taken many road trips with utmost confidence--some in very bad weather--and the Quattro, adaptive xenon headlamps, heated seats (six settings, great heavens!), and rain-sensing wipers are all superb!

Thanks for the info,I did buy it last friday I got a great deal on it compared to other prices in losangeles it has 68k miles,drives great,very smooth and a lot of power for a 1.8,nice black leather,its not the quattro though,I will take your advice and check for all those maintenance issues when I take it in to get its first oil change,thank you very much for your honesty.

also, thoose two little holes by the sunroof control. that is a super cool reading light, its red and its always on, but you never see it unless you stick something directly under it. i had never seen anything like it before.

These cars were new when I was in high school. I was in love. Still my absolute favourite design from an era of excellent choices across all segments. Now all we have are six sizes of SUV in six versions of grey. That is NOT choice.

Hey Kyle, i am interested in buying this car but i keep seeing reviews about how the car will always need this and that changed like the timing belt wiper motor, but once they are changed do you know how often after that they will need to be? Thanks for the video.

$6K. Good condition overall. So far no complaints. Trunk motor went out and water pump as well. I replaced both and still rides like a jewel. Not regretting this purchase at all. Eye catcher all day long. Go for it. Just do it. I'm loving every time I turn the ignition.

Depends. Do you have the 1.8T engine? If you do a simple ECU tune can bump you up to 225hp. Doing a k04 turbo swap and a tune will take you even further.

Suggestion, do not rev a turbocharged engine for several minutes after starting so the oil gets warm and lubes the turbo bearings. Conversely do not shut off a turbo engine for a couple of minutes to allow the bearings to be cooled by the oil. I bought an 05 Volvo S80 Premier for my wife. It has the 2.9 inline six with the twin turbochargers and is “adequately “ powered.

This Quattro system is the Torsen version. Which is probably the best version. It's a 50/50 split of power.

A k04 will do, also replace your injectors and send your ecu to APR to have it retuned with a stage 1+ program. that should give you around 250-260 HP. also look into a cat delete and catback exhaust system.

I am going to look at a ultra sport on Monday in excellent condition 1 owner. Pretty stoked.. Only thing is im not sure if I like the Reverse on the bottom left of the transmission. I just sold an Acura RSX Type-S and I loved how it sat right next to 6th gear.. but would not allow you to go into reverse while rolling. Oh yeah, Ill also miss my 6.5 0-60 in my rsx as compared to 8.3ish in the 1.8t. U gotta sacrifice speed for luxury i guess!

I got one 1 year ago 6 speed manual 1.8. Fuel pump was broke before I bought it and sensors are starting to go bad other than those moderate problems the car is not bad.

I have one, great car, quite reliable engine. Don't get a CVT, make sure it is quattro, check the belts( accessory and timing ), fluid changes, fuel filter/fuel pump and ignition coils( Rev D ), and spark plugs...sounds a lot but if it is used w/ high miles you'll have to check those things anyway. Bought mine at 53k miles, now at 132k miles, problem free as I kept up with the preventative maintenance.

I got the VW Version the Passat 1.8t 5 speed an it's a nice car an plenty of power for stock an fwd but plain on doing upgrades very soon u can find everything on the net for upgrades on these cars an not bad prices just look

I own an 02 A4 which is a 5 speed as well. I think they brought the 6 speed for the B6 model in 04, but don't quote me on it.

@saxman112 lol even our 2004 Chrysler Pacifica has RDS, and it was actually built in April 2003. My dad's 2003 Lincoln Town Car has RDS too, you just have to push the button to display it, tho.

@Pete4rings yeah my stepdad has told me that audis and mazda's breakdown easily but it depends on how u take care of them and when u do their regular maintancei currently own a toyota corolla 93 and never had a problem with it
