Please do a special episode on the LED headlight epidemic. SO BRIGHT. Roads aren'ts level, aiming them doesn't matter, they need to be less bright and less white.
@blahorgaslisk7763
@blahorgaslisk7763 7 күн бұрын
It's been an issue for a long time, not necessarily related to LED. Some years back, before any car had LED headlights I noticed that more and more of the cars I met at night were blinding even on low beam. One night I met a car that flooded the road with intense light so bright I couldn't see anything. Pissed off I flashed the headlights to signal him to switch to low beam. Well he flashed me back. It turned out that he had been using his cars version of low beam. I had to break and park at the curb waiting for my eyes to recover. This was just halogen lights but bad enough to be dangerous and the low beam was certainly not shielded to keep from blinding meeting traffic. Now properly designed headlights will not blind the meeting traffic when you use low beam. High beam is another matter. It will be disastrous for anyone you meet in the night, so make sure to always go to low beam when meeting a car. And do adjust your cars headlights wo low beam doesn't blind people. Sure it you can't see as far along the road that way, but at least you don't have to risk crashing head on with a driver that can't see.

THe problems is with color temperature. Lights from 2700k (old halogen) up to 4000-4500k (some LED, even third-party) are OK. Whenever you go above 5000k, even 6500k, the light becomes unbearable.

They're better than they used to be, mostly because you couldn't use cruise control with them turned off, but now you can. It does however turn them back on every time you cancel and re-engage cruise control, which annoys me no end. I understand that you need the cameras to be clear of water so that the adaptive cruise control can work... but I hat that too, always slowing down for no reason. Just give me an option dumb cruise control, I don't need any nanny hand holding, if I crash into the back of someone then so be it, but I've managed the last decade of driving other cars just fine so think I'll manage just fine... In the last update they allowed scrolling the thumb wheel to change wipe mode, which is great, but they also made it worse by having each press of the wiper stalk change mode, so to go from intermittant wipe to off without removing my hand from the wheel, I have to press the stalk which makes the wipers faster before I can scroll to turn them off. So dumb. So backwards.

@@pipooh1 "People also hated touchscreens on phones when they first released, now everyone owns one and can not live without it." Yes because those touchscreen were legit awful to use at the time. Do you remember what touchscreens used to be like before the iphone came out? There's a reason why apple blew everyone's mind at the time because no one wanted touchscreens because the majority of them were awful. "Yet most people complain about them, never driven the cars... People need to get out of the "i do not like change" mindset. Technology will go forwards if you want it or not." I know how I like my cars. I'm very critical of things if it irks me. User experience is in my top 3 beside safety and reliability. Saying technology is going forward does not excuse bad design (it's also a common defense by weird elon fans to excuse anything he does). I don't mind change if it actually helps me but I do mind it if it hinders me. Putting the gear change on the screen or ceiling doesn't fucking help me. Having a terrible auto wiper system doesn't fucking help. I'm sorry but it's not a good look for "progress" if my 12k car looks like a better option than a tesla from a user experience perspective.

@Shadowninja1200 the gear shifter is rarely needed because it does it automatically, it knows where you are going and your surroundings and auto set it for you once you want to move. For the auto wipers, yes, they are not the best, but you also can easily control them on the steering wheel with the scroll wheel and no need to go into the screen menu. Seem most reviewers just get in the car and drive. While most stuff they complain about is fixed by the time they release the video or they do not care to read the manual to understand the functions. This is why I rarely care about review videos and more about owner experience.

I had a chance a few month ago to check out BYD's Seal, Atto3, and Dolphin. The Seal is like a Mercedes, but EV. Very nice. Lots of room. The high end accelerates like a rocket. The Atto3 is like a smaller SUV. Higher clearance, bigger inside. Good performance. The Dolphin is similar to the Atto3, but smaller. Also very good acceleration. The large trunk has 3 levels (and I swear the bottom one is below ground level! ;) The high end Seal had a range of 690 km, the Atto3 was 490(?), and the high end Dolphin was 490. The prices were "affordable" as in 1/3rd a tesla. If they start importing to the US (and they are setting up a plant in Mexico to get around import restrictions), tesla is toast. Oh, and Warren Buffett is a big share holder, so the quality / future one can pretty much count on their business abilities.

Trying an older Model 3 with a stalk was far more difficult. I do agree with the auto wipers issue though. Not bad but not great. I have found it super smooth, quiet and efficient. The phone connection makes it so easy as no need to do anything other than have your phone with you. Walk up to door, open it, get in, close door and put foot on brake to start car. Automatically sets reverse and you go. The boot opening update works well again with phone in pocket it works well 3 beeps and it is opening. As it also auto increases when pressing the wiper button, you need to go down twice to reduce and often confirm the current setting by looking on the screen. Yes, but it still sucks. Auto should be after 4, and pressing the stalk once should not change the speed. It used to just do a single wipe regardless of whether the wipers were on or off which was great for when you were in light rain and had intermittant, but get sprayed by a truck or puddle. Now if I want to go from slow to off, it goes faster when you press the stalk, hesitates for a moment during which the thumb wheel does nothing, and then finally lets you turn them off.

Wonderful review as always. Game changer of a car, however addressing some of the "negative" comments made in the view for things he "wished were there", and some positive ones too: 1. Trunk Auto Open - It uses the cameras and you have to enable it in the car menu, works surprisingly well. 2. Climate Controls (heated/vent seats) - You can actually add them as quick widgets! In my Model 3H I've put: Seats Cool/heat(ing), Heated Steering Wheel, Windshield Defroster. 3. Climate Controls (quickly setting temps etc) - A fun UX action you can do is just swipe left/right on the temperature widget at the bottom to quickly change it, I dont even look at it when I do it as I drive since the swipe length scales perfectly every time and you can easily predict which temp it will be at after let's say a 5cm swipe (I do wish they added a haptic motor somewhere for this, maybe on the steering wheel to make use of the existing haptics of the thumb buttons?). 4. Switching Drive modes - I agree it's really shit, I hate it but it doesnt ruin the experience. I would rather have a stock or gear knob on the center console, screw it even haptic buttons would work if they were heavily textured or with a bump and not on the ceiling :))))). 5. Indicators (position) - both dumb and alright. Since the turning ratio for the wheel is crazy good (meaning a 90º rotation turns the wheels A LOT) I happen to spend most of the time in roundabouts with my finger on the exit indicator button with ease. When I use my combustion car I get annoyed that I have to release the wheel to indicate because of how comfy it is to just not move your hands. That being said, any tighter roundabout or turn and youre cooked - just give up and pray you can reach the button in time and it's the right one. You are encouraged to keep your hands on the wheel like a racing driver, it's the whole point, but do a full rotation and oh boy you best pray. 6. Indicators (auto turn off with rotation) - you can turn this off in the menus. For my driving it's useful, but it can be turned off. 7. Wipers (auto) - absolutely useless, they're shit and whoever decided to not user IR hardware should be fired. Let's use up nice resources of the ECU's Process Loop :). Or do as he said and click the haptic button, and use the scroll wheel (better but stupid still). 8. Lights - the dynamic high beams are really good if you're a driver and from experience they're not bad when you, as oncoming traffic, are within legal EU range. I'd rather not be blinded but it does not make it unsafe. If you're a EU spec cabover oncoming truck whose lights are at the same level as other cars but as a driver you're really high up, youre getting blinded there's no chance. Most highways in EU have railing or bushes which happen to cover the line of sight of the cameras and the truck lights and when the truck is near enough that night time image recognition kicks-in well you've already been flashed 10x by the trucker. 9. Speakers - hella good, agreed by many sound nerds to be one of the best factory speakers. Conclusion: it has downsides, upsides, lots of customization, really dumb things and is a wonderful car to drive.

I daily drove with the buttons for turn signals here in Sweden and I do drive in roundabouts. Some roundabouts are a bit finicky to press the turn signal but overall it works fine. I believe S3XY buttons are developing or has now released aftermarket stalks and I have also seen solutions where you put S3XY button buttons on the steering column that control the turn signals.

I would just make the steering wheel better looking, -put it back old classic stalks for managing signals and windshield wipers, -add a 360° view just for when you are parking, because the simplified view don't inspire me so much trust... - maybe add a head up display for speed, signals speed limits and directions - add the sexy knob (stock and fully integrated for managing climate, volume) and maybe a drive selector (you know just like bmw, a simple lever front, back neutral and park) instead of the cup holder, maybe you can make the cup holder slide on the front when you need it, i personally almost never drink in my car...

Highland is not it's name... Lol ... I own one, it's great. Self driving is a lot better than past versions. Also last beta update allows you to not touch the wheel just need to keep your eyes on the road. I let it do some things but I takeover for some things. Lots of aftermarket parts can add extra screens, buttons, and drive selectors if wanted. Also the car will park it self and will anticipate the direction you want to drive so it makes sense.. you don't need to keep swiping it knows you need to reverse and will automatically have it selected. Also I like having the buttons for the turn signals. It's more of a muscle memory thing not an issue. Auto whipers is configurable so guessing you are just set weirdly. Yes you can configure it... It has a learning curve. The best thing about the Tesla was the buying experience. Clicked buy in an app and picked it up and drove off. No sales people to talk to... The only issue about the buying was that there was a bunch of finger prints and stickiness on things. Had to clean everything but at least I didn't need to talk to a sticky sales person. I tried to buy an ionic 6 and kept being batted and switched and waisted so much gas and money trying to buy that stupid Hyundai. So the buying experience is way better than any other car buying experience ever. I'm never buying another car manufacturer again it was just way too easy with Tesla. A lease is 323 a month on a lease. No brainer... Cheapest car to own for the features included hands down.

Long Range AWD will qualify for the tax credit, making it $39,990 for 69 miles of additional EPA-rated range, 1.6 second faster 0-60 mph acceleration, and 17 speakers with dual subwoofers.

It already has that, they just failed to show it in the video. You can select different apps to pin to the bottom bar for quick access, and it will also show your most recently used apps in the lower right side of the app bar at the bottom. You can also select different climate options to be pinned to the bottom bar permanently for easier/quicker access. Or you could always use voice commands, which tend to work really well in my experience with this car.
