Lumatone Keyboard

11 ай бұрын

Lumatone is a game-changing instrument for keyboard players, film composers, beatmakers, producers, and microtonal composers. Powered by centuries-old music theory and modern design ingenuity, the Lumatone is all at once intuitive to play, fully programmable, and endlessly creative.

The amount of voicings you can make is insane. So much color 💕

I like the hyperenharmonic scale bits near the end, each being just a bit over 1 cent more than a syntonic interval. Would also like to see experimentation with that in 58EDO (1 increment is just slightly smaller than a syntonic interval, but unfortunately the sheer number of increments requires an weird mapping to use on a Lumatone without missing some) and in 46EDO (1 increment is noticeably larger than a syntonic interval, but you get good approximations of all of the blue notes, and you get a better 11th harmonic, and you have more buttons left over for repeats to assist with playing chords that would otherwise wrap around the vertical axis of the keyboard).

53 EDO is so overkill 😭 People who use it for more intervals instead of JI purity must be either naive or ultrageniuses considering 31 isn't enough for them. 🤯

it's more about 1) the color of the main intervals (thirds, fifths etc) and 2) the number of notes you can do a "chromatic glissando" from one to another

I think your understanding of edo’s is a bit confused.

I personally agree that 53 is too many notes, but once you get into it you realize how palpable it actually is

it's certainly not too many notes; except for a few prime harmonics, it does well at approximating the first 42 harmonics of the harmonic series, especially for its size. the few prime harmonics it misses are 17, 29 and 31, and maybe also 23 depending on how you use it
