Avery has very good breath control you react to his Smule Flashlight with Jessi J Avery has a beautiful voice at around 7:47 - 8:07 when he started that run that was all one breath you don't hear a break anywhere.

Everyone on here saying her duet with scot hoying was "better" than this one, are confusing. This is a live performance and the other is a pre-recorded, and engineered version. Comparing apples and pears tbh. They're both great renditions. This one is just more free and unregulated. In the moment. That's where the magic comes from. JS🤷🏾♀️

As others have said in the comments before me, Shoshanna's duet of this same song with Scott Hoying of Pentatonix is even better than this, but purely in terms of experiencing the true beauty of this song rather than in terms of vocal pyrotechnics. Avery is like the boy version of Whitney Houston but he does scales a lot and he has the tendency to oversing songs because of the use of so many scales and runs he still has to learn placement on some things but Avery can definitely sing. His range is remarkable also
