I had to really think what I wanted to do about my remains when the time came. I don't want to leave this decision to my family. But what about the resurrection? Can God raise up my ashes? What does the Bible say?
Cremation cost is about $1,500 to $2,000.

Hello, Sandra ~ my husband and I feel the same as you and Bill. We have decided on cremation. There was a time that I would have thought such conversation was creepy but just like my grandmother told me, the older you are the more the reality of leaving this earth and going to be with the Lord is very real. Didn't get that then because I was in my 20's. Now, I do. I can't say that the journey from here to the grave is not kind of scary but I know that when I leave this world I will be with Jesus and that is what is matters. I totally agree with you. So many die in fires, etc... Thank you for talking about the things we all think about at our age. It was my son's wishes to be cremated when he passed away 12 years ago. It was then I made my decision to be cremated. Jesus will resurrect us when the time comes. To be absent from our body is presence with the Lord when we trust in Christ as our savior.

As a nurse,I’ve washed many deceased bodies before they went to morgue or funeral home. I’m 71 and remember deceased family members being in homes for viewing until the funeral. I have prepaid all I can on my funeral. I’m considering donating my body to a local medical school for teaching. In recent months I’ve had two friends pass away and had no obituary or any type of service. Both cremated… I’m not sure either family even picked up the ashes. It’s hard to difficult finding closure on friendships without a final goodbye. My friends and I are comforting to each other in accepting this is what the friends wanted. Neither one had church homes and never spoke of a relationship with Jesus. We witnessed to them to receive underlying angry reactions. Thank you for covering a difficult topic for many to accept that will be a part of their journey on earth when our Lord calls their number.

I respect you so much for sharing the deeper things in Life❤ And back it up with God's Word❤ I plan on it and my husband too. My precious 12 year son and his dad went on a fishing 🎣 trip and never came back. Their boat capsized and they weren't found for a couple weeks. They were delivered to me via UPS. The man asked me if thos is what I think it is? I slowly took the package, which was them, I was still in shock and went and fell on my bed. That was in 2020. Here we are in 2024 and not a day goes by that I don't grieve, still. My comfort is knowing they are in The Heavenly Father's Loving Arms❤️ You go ahead Sandra and do what you believe The Lord is Leading You❤

My mom chose cremation. I carried her ashes from NC to the Florida Keys. We took her out in a boat in the beautiful Keys' water and placed her in the water with a bunch of floating flowers, per her wishes. It was beautiful. My sister lives in the Keys so not a big expense. Her daughters were able to spend a few days together and share stories and laugh and cry - like she would've wanted.

We went and both Talk to them about being cremated and paid for that day.And it was such a relief for both of us.. When the time came that richard passed away We called them. They came and everything was done so smoothly.. I took care of my husband at home Hospice for 8 months. He was 15 years older than me. We discussed what we wanted. We were going to be cremated and scattered into the Columbia River. Then one day my husband said " I changed my mind, I dont want to go in the water." He had me get him in the car with his oxygen tank and our dogs and told me to drive. We ended up on a remote road where there was a beautiful meadow with deer standing in it. He had me get the dogs out and walk them on leashes on the road in front of the meadow. When we got back to the car, he was out of the car standing there watching us. We got back in the car. He said THIS is where I want to be scattered. In the meadow. It was his quiet place he would go to think. He wanted to watch the dogs and I enjoying his place. I had to go to the funeral home alone to make arrangements for both of us to be cremated and prepaid. I didnt buy expensive urns because neither of us wanted to stay in a box. We didnt want anyone feeling like they HAVE to haul us around everywhere they go and burden them with worry and guilt to finally dump us. Or they die and THEIR kids are stuck with us. ( my husband told me " Dont let anyone say "I PASSED! I didn't PASS anything.. I died!" It's funny when someone says "pass" and I make sure to tell them he died. He died a couple months later Feb 2020. I kept him on my wall unit until I was ready to let him go ( again) August 24th, that same year felt right. All the family had a long procession of cars going to the remote meadow. We walked down a beautiful groomed trail that I hadnt seen before , and after some words, I scattered him. We went back to the house and had a celebration of life. We ate his favorite foods and shared great stories. It was beautiful and didnt cost an arm and a leg which was one of our gripes. Weddings and funerals are such a scam industry. Sorry this is so long. May God bless you all who read this.

I forgot to mention one very important thing. My husband wanted his name in the cemetery so that people could come and remember him. So I designed a headstone with a small single engine plane on it. With his name and important dates.. My son insisted I be on it too so he doesn't have to mess with it. So I added my name DOB and date of death blank ( he'll have to have that done later.. much later, God willing). And that we were soulmates 43 yrs and proud parents and grandparents. It's our thought that we don't want to take up much more real-estate being gone. I had it placed below my father's headstone so we're not taking up more room. Someone said it was disrespectful. Like my father wouldn't be able to get out when the time comes. Lol the graves already take up too much space. There is room on a grave for up to 4 headstones. Why not keep family together and costs down? Real-estate is at a premium as it is.

Sandra you are so wise to make this kind of video, I’m so happy that you did this. Your urn is beautiful. My husband and I decided to be cremated as well. I told him if I go first I wanted my dog’s ashes to be put in with me and then his added to mine vice versa. Too. I don’t want my daughter or his 2 sons to have to deal with who keeps the urn, then what happens to it after they are gone, where would be then. We want our ashes spread out probably in one of our favorite parks are in our own back yard with the birds/squirrels and deer we enjoy watching. When my mom passed 11 years ago she asked me what was I going to do when I died, I told her cremated, she told me she didn’t want to be put in the ground and be eaten up by worms and other things, she wanted to be cremated. We were raised Catholic and she left the church and started going to a Baptist church. I told her it was ok, as long as she believed in God and had him and Jesus in her heart she would go to Heaven. We had a small memorial service at the funeral home for all of our family and cousins. The funeral home had so many things to choose from, for example her favorite color was purple, I bought a purple clear glass cross and they put some of her ashes in it and they took her thumb print and put it on a butterfly pendant and engraved the back of it. I wear it when we go out of town to keep her with me. I need to buy a couple of those books you mentioned. (That link for that planner is showing your urn can you please correct that so I can place an order)😘 oh I loved the part about the gloves, never thought of it that way🙏🏻❤️

If you remember, we talked about cremation the same day we talked about my daughters. Sandra Brown just made her final decisions about cremation and actually took a lot of what another gentleman said on KZfaq. A lot of what she said just made sense. I know you haven't had that many funerals yet, but thought you might like to read the comments of people trying to make their final decisions. Alan has been pushing me to take him to Clearfield to where one of the least expensive crematories is located. I have a few more phone calls to make and hope to get our final wishes down on paper. As a procrastinator, I know that it is time to try and figure this out. I have always loved playing for funerals, picking just the right music for the dearly departed as well as the family, but I understand that ways of doing things are changing faster than we can keep up, so trying to get this taken care of. Feel free to share this with others going through the same end of life planning. Blessings!

My husband and I went to ITALY and of the many things we saw, which were amazing, the catacombs had such an affect on me. What they went through to be buried, I can't get that image out of my mind.

Love this subject. We decided to do cremation , a few months ago ,and did with a Smart Cremation who does it. Cost us $2,750 each (we have been happily together 45 years ) perfect ,.since we live in California and our family is in Canada/Quebec. Make it easier for all. The book is a must. You can include an invoice of all you have as insurance ,credit card, and bank account etc. Pass word. My question … where do I put away our urns till then ,I have chosen under the bed for now …I’m smiling thanks for this video.

Sandra, I had been waiting 4 this upload. You brought some very good points about finances, family dynamics, cultural changes, and even land constraints that play a part in the decision, depending on where u live. The decision to cremate or not is one I struggle with⚰️ ⚱️ The angle I have examined is more on how Believers in the God of creation have historically handled the burial of their dead. In biblical times, Abraham and his descendants purchased burial caves in advance. Joseph (son of Jacob), who had been in Egypt at the time of his death, was embalmed, and years later, his bones were transferred for burial in the land. The body of Jesus was wrapped in a linen cloth and laid to rest. In the gospel of Luke, we read about Joseph of Arimathea, a member of the Sanhedrin, who wanted to ensure Jesus body was buried in accordance with Jewish Law, (bodies could not be left exposed overnight). John says that Joseph was assisted in the burial process by Nicodemus, who brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes and included these spices in the burial cloth according to Jewish customs. Historically, it has been the heathen who have cremated their dead. I have read abundantly on the subject, truly macabre. My husband is adamant about a proper burial. He is of the thinking we have a strong precedent for ground burial, and it doesn't have to cost an arm and a leg. In a direct burial, they put you in a cheap pine box and bury you inmediately. Those who have perished in fires 🔥explosions 💣murdered, perdated by beasts 🦁 or 🦈 in the 🌊 didn't have an option. I agree that ultimately, our heavenly Father can and will raise us in glorified incorruptable bodies regardless of how we departed this world❤

Yes, that is a good point and something I pondered. If I were back in Indiana my home town that is something I may do. Cheap wooden ⚰️ casket and bury immediately by my son who passed 20 years ago. But here I am in Tennessee with no one but my 82 yr. Old husband. I don’t want to be buried here. That means shipping my body over 800 miles and no one there to take care of the arrangements. With cremation my ashes can be shipped or driven to Indiana and given to my daughter who wants them. Later she could have my ashes buried close to my son if she likes.💕I still haven’t totally made up my mind.💕

Sandra creamation is okay, both my folks were creamated, they were devout christians. Dad died 20yrs before mom, we saved his ashes, because he wanted to be buried with mom, tthats what we did. I think its the least exspensive way for the family to. Im going to be creamated, I dont want my body rotting in the ground. Like the Bible says we will all be dust.

Moab burned the King of Edoms bones into lime for building material. Cremation is the saving of the ashes in an urn for a loved one to keep or for burial. So, I'm not sure what to think about that. But I see your point. Being buried like Jesus, he wasn't embalmed, nor buried in the ground, he was wrapped in a shroud, with spices etc. He was laid in a burial chamber in a cave. So we can't all do that. But he wasn't cremated because it was just not the custom of the day. The Bible just gives no instructions for us in this area. Someone said Billy Graham did an extensive study on the subject and said the Bible does not forbid it and there is no problem with it. I'll have to look that up. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this.💕

I too am being cremated. I. Never thought about my body will become ashes for it’s our souls , belief in our Lord Jesus. And We will be given new bodies by our Heavenly Father. I grew up in a home that my father and brother both worked in a funeral home so I grew up and am very familiar with embalming etc. When my Nana passed her wishes were to be cremated and we were to take her back home and buried in a little hometown Cemetary so me, My Mom, my 2 small children about 8 and 5 flew back to NY and I had my Nana being held by me on the plane. My Mom and I even had to dig the hole because it was an old old Cemetary and there was not anybody to do it but us. Nana wasn’t in that urn, just her earthly remains. The thoughts of being with our Lord no matter what form we are in puts all questions about cremation aside for me. The cost of a regular burial is just money thrown away, thousands of dollars. Does God want us to spend that kind of money? I have bought a burial plot where up to 4 cremated remains can be buried,. It will be such a glorious day when our Lord calls us home.

There's nothing in the bible that says cremation is wrong. Instantly, when the silver cord parts, or the clay pot breaks...we instantly go back to our Father who gave us life. Cremation is so less expensive. There are places, of science & research that will come and pick you up once you pass, use your body to benefit for science research...and then cremate your body...All at no cost. We will receive a new angelic body when we get to heaven....beautiful, spiritual, and everlasting.
