Should I buy an Ironmind Rolling Thunder or the cheap one on Amazon? - Brutal Grip Strength Training

I was asked which rolling handle to buy. I'm not going to link to either product because they don't pay me.
I will provide the best insight I can, but ultimately, only you know how much money you can spend on gear before your girl, wife, or mom kills you. For the ladies watching, buy whatever you want. No one should tell you how to spend your money.

IronMind charges so much more for their products and with promoting them with certs, including them in organized competitions, etc., it's a shrewd move. IronMind offers better than average products for sure -- I've owned several over the years. Something I have never owned is an IronMind Rolling Thunder, but, I do own the cheaper version handles featured here. In December of 2023 I purchased 2 of the cheaper handles for $54 which included shipping! Yes, the exact same handles, yes, 2 of them with shipping for $54; very good quality with incomparable value. I'll very gladly take the unbranded horse(s) -- thank you.💥

Logos and branding do not make us stronger. I think you made a very wise decision here. ✌️

Literally the only reason to buy the rolling thunder is to certify. It’s way to expensive. I have the same Amazon one, built solid for the price, and works well. Good review. Grip genie RGT is also another option, better quality then the RT from what I’ve heard, also a decent amount cheaper.

An important thing I forgot to mention is that you have to get the Ironmind loading pin and carabiner to certify as well, so that would be extra expense. However, it's a bad ass loading pin, so I would recommend it anyway.

This was great! I've been comparing alternatives for myself, but wasn't willing to drop the money on a real rolling thunder unless there was some clear difference that set it above similar rolling handles. Thanks!

Get grip genie. It uses bearings and is way better. It’s also harder because there is much less friction.

Ironmind makes top quality stuff, but an 11 gauge steel squat rack from china is as effective as an ironmind squat rack. And i own both. I love ironmind, but unless you want the sticker on your squat rack, it’s not worth it

Thank you very much for this review. I'm definitely getting the IM. I think you're definitely right that it's better to buy the quality handle instead of purchasing one then the other later. Many thx for this review 💪

You never seem to actually say what the "cheaper option on amazon" actually is. What is it? Rolling Thunder is converted to around 250 dollars over here (no lmao) so its a lot more than 2-3 x the price of what I see on amazon. The comments mention titan but apparently they're american only.

How long have you had them? Do you think one will age better (or doesn't matter)? I have a 3" handle from Titan that was cheap and like it - I'm pretty sure it will outlive me.
@dubyagrip

The ironmind seems to be better engineered as all the fasteners are covered by the housing, but who knows... If you're just using them to lift, they should last forever. If you use it as a hammer, probably not. I've had both of these for a couple of months.
@Hybridsayian

Hi man thanks for the review i just recently bought the amazon one! Me and my friends were hearing that when one pushes for PRs with the RT they can lift heavier weight was that true in your case ? I saw some comparisons with jed Johnsons videos with RT vs other brands but i havent seen one yet of this generic chinese Amazon one that we have. Did you ever get a chance to test max effort lifts with this vs the RT ? Thankss again
@dubyagrip
@dubyagrip Жыл бұрын
I never did, but I think at max effort the difference would be negligible. Max effort with these handles only matters if you're competing or certifying. In both cases, neither would use the cheap amazon one. If you want to compete or certify, buy the RT. If not, save your money.
@Hybridsayian

@@dubyagrip ahh that definitely makes sense, yeah we are just playing around in parks with this as of now just competing with each other , yeah maybe in the future we would get a RT for certification based stuff hhh thankss

@@dubyagrip A hole like the amazon one so it can't just slide around if I wanted to use it on a cable machine. I'm gonna email Ironmind and ask if they can add that, doesn't make any sense not to have it

@@mhxxd4 You could probably use a short nylon runner or something to make it so the carabiner is less likely to slide around.
