Did you get a job during law school? How did it work for you?

I do not think it,s fair that employers judge you after law school for slightly lower grades on account of the fact that some people have no choice but to work and also the average work week is 40 hours a week.

I have heard that even medical students are able to find alot of ways to earn money while they go to school and an MD or DO degree is one of the best and most versatile degrees that has ever been created.

I worked full time as a securities trader and studied part time at my country's top law school. Took twice as long to get here but I would not change anything given the chance to do it over again. But make no mistake, the hours are long indeed. GPAs do tend to suffer, but it's not all that matters. I didn't get invites to Big Law prior to graduation but the rest of my CV landed me at top firms nonetheless . I can say from experience, to the right firm/company there will always be a value proposition for lawyers who can navigate both the business/technical and legal landscape of any industry.

I am a community college student and I just started looking into a career in law. I may have interest in becoming a lawyer, but my concerns are not to "argue which side has more merits than the other" like you see on T.V but to encourage people to understand "what's it like to be in the other person's shoes" I also have interest in reviewing and rewriting laws that might have unintentional consequences.

Wow, I heard about people suing God but not about Satan. I guess people decide who they want to blame for their suffering 😅. Nice video, I didn't work during my first year but I did during the remaining years in law school, but just 10 hours a week tutoring kids which surprisingly paid better than any internship and I had a much better schedule. I decided to work for financial reasons and it didn't impact my gpa, my gpa actually improved and I gained better time management skills. But definitely, anything over 20 hours a week would be too much. I already spent 50-60 hours a week on law school. My rule for deciding if a job and law school are compatible is that the job cannot keep me from doing all the compulsory readings and going to all the classes.

Can we get a video on how to search for a job after graduation and admission? I have recently been admitted as a lawyer and I am absolutely struggling to even get to interview stage. I currently work full time as a legal assistant at a top tier law firm, however the job is a bit of a dead end because they have flat out told me that it is not a pathway to practice as a lawyer. I feel stuck and helpless. I am sure I am not the only person in this situation and a video would be a useful way to provide some guidance for those of us in this difficult phase in our careers.

It’s certainly possible, but I suspect you’ve developed many skills prior to becoming a CEO. Not sure that the typical 18 year old starting an LLB in Australia-or anywhere else-would have those same skills.

Just curious, when you said 50-60 hours a week, that estimate is including breaks in between study session right? 50-60 hours of pure study time (not including break time) is crazy. But, then again, so is 100 hours regardless of whether or not that's including break time or not!
@Learnlawbetter
@Learnlawbetter 3 жыл бұрын
At 50 to 60 hours you will take breaks, including time to exercise and have down time. At 100 hours, she didn’t really have much down time.

Hi, I was wondering if you can give me advice. Now i am in Turkey at a high school, i want to be a lawyer and study aboard. But i need to study so much. I mean like 7-8 hours a day. I don't want to study in Turkey because education is not good here. So ı am asking this; Should ı study 7-8 hours and get a good education or work like a normal student and go to a university here? (if i stay here ı know Turkey very well)

Law school in the US and Canada is a graduate degree, which means you first have to earn a college degree before applying. I think that those who earn a college degree in the US have an advantage in getting into law school later. But that means four years in the US for college and then three years fir law school.

Would you recommend an online law school? (Feasibility to work) Also, if a law school is not accredited by the ABA, what requirements need to be fulfilled in order to sit for the bar?
@Learnlawbetter
@Learnlawbetter 3 жыл бұрын
Right now, only some non-ABA law schools are fully online. Well, other than those meeting online during the pandemic, which will change. So if you plan to practice in California, the world's 5th largest economy, then there are several fully online options. For other states, the ABA is moving towards a fully online education, but we aren't quite there yet.
