Great information!. I’ve been hesitant for a long time in doing it but I’m redoing my website and I decided I’m going to put pricing on there. It just makes sense.

I’ve always been about being transparent and not wasting peoples time. I want to charge one price only and bring value. If you’re not getting book, lower your prices. If you’re booking yourself above what you can handle, raise your prices. Competition has little to do with this most times. They came to you for a reason. Qualify your clients by setting their expectations upfront without you even needing to say anything and waste an hour or two on a consultation.

Jason is right about putting the pricing out there, but there's a caveat. He also focuses on creating a unique brand and putting out content that attracts people to his business. And he did say this, but that is really the key thing here. You want people to already want YOU before the point of contact. If you can't create those conditions, having the pricing out there won't make much difference.

I agree. I think the elephant in the room is that DJ’s know that other DJ’s undercut. And that’s the sole reason some DJ’s choose not to put their price. ... but this day and age... clients may be turned away of not being able to have the price accessible “now”

Great video Jason. I agree, we live in a world of transparency now and it is only beneficial to us as business owners and our customers. Thanks for reinforcing that. P.S. for your future videos, throw a lav mic on yourself. The video looks great but the audio is a little distracting with the room noise being picked up. Try something like that on the next one.

I feel that adding prices is a good idea...but realize that most customers don't know the gear and costs of stuff....So putting stuff like "2x 1000w speakers and Pioneer DJRX controller for $2000..." means NOTHING to the average, non-DJ person, all they see is $2000 part. But if you add a video/images of events you have done, then the 2K has value they can link it to in their minds, and you will close more.

I totally agree! I've had some ask after seeing my price wanting a lower price. Thanked them for their interest, let them know if their budget changes feel free to contact me and wished them well. Even if one is a referral, before I talk with someone for my services, I've let them know the price range. I agree 100% prices on the site have saved me more time and effort.

Ok I'm seeing the point on the benefits of sharing pricing on your site.... but I have a couple of questions ..... do you charge the same price for each DJ on your team or do you charge according to their level of experience and level of expertise, if so how do you determine that? Also, has anybody on your DJ team ever questioned their pay vs. what you charge? I really see why this would be beneficial for our workflow and I'm going to try it out. Thank you for this, very helpful info. Much Respect! 2-hands-the-air!!!!!

I'm definitely putting my prices on my site. I know when I'm researching a product or service I want the information up front. I tend to shy away from businesses that are not up front with cost. As some one on the older end of the millennial spectrum I understand that wanting the information quickly and easily accessible is a trait of our generation.

Great insights. I put my pricing on my website for the same reasoning. My prospective clients get a good idea of the different pricing and what they get for those pricing. Most clients opt for the middle range but I've also had clients who never considered some of the upsell extras they get with the higher priced packages until they saw it. I do get a lot less inquiries that I used to, COVID notwithstanding, but people who are looking for cheap budget DJs no longer contact me - its not my market so that's a great time saver.

Great video Jason. I think we all have struggled hard with the website pricing issue a lot over the years. I love your points about client accessibility, and time management. Making sure that the information comes directly from you. I always struggled with the idea because we are at a premium price point with very few others in our neighborhood. The idea of a $3-$6k entertainer seemed to shut down leads pretty fast initially when I first put up pricing. I had so many clients meet with me that couldn't afford me, and I also had a lot that just didn't know what we do was possible from a DJ. I always thought that I maybe wouldn't have a chance to show what can really do if my price was online. But, I found out that the clients who truly care about having the best experience would still meet with me. They wanted to see what the difference is. Another hope of mine is that maybe other DJs in my market will see that my price is REAL. That I'm not making this shit up. Maybe they'll finally want to step it up. I'd love to see a big step forward in our industry. Thanks for sharing!

Great video Jason! My concern is I have my standard starting pricing, but there are 2 venues that I am the preferred DJ for. I offer different pricing for those 2 venues. What I’m trying to figure out is how to list pricing without having clients for those 2 venues either get turned away on pricing or having my other clients question why their pricing is more. Once I get this figured out, I will have pricing on my site. Thanks for all you do for our industry! Olyn Taylor

Just list it at the price you offer at those 2 venues and if you wish offer a discount if they are NOT coming from or at those venues. Why not make that price even if not at those venues?
@tayloredentertainmentllc
@tayloredentertainmentllc 3 жыл бұрын
@@lazyvideographer2953 Those 2 venues (same local chain) "are" the discounted rate. They said if I wanted to be the preferred DJ there, that my base price couldn't be over a certain price to fit in with their package. I could sell enhancements, ceremony system, cocktail system..etc., but I had to keep my starting price at a specific price point. ($300 less than my normal basic rate). The upside is load in to setup for main system is 20 feet, and it is always a small system (no lights). so for me, it's a win/win. Right now I have auto replies (based on what venue) with pricing, on inquiries through my website.

@@tayloredentertainmentllc so who gives them the pricing?? I guess post your regular price on site and if they contact you from venue send them the discount. Or have the vwnue tell them your pricing maybe. I don't post prices on my site so I send quote based on my regular pricing but sonetimes adjusted for travel, etc.

This is a good angle and very convincing. Thanks for making the video. I have my site set up as "send me a message to receive my event-specific pricing" via a contact form. They get an automated email back with a link to my branded pricing page. I get their contact and an opportunity to have a conversation about my service. I won't get a $500 budget client up to my price, but I might get a $1,400 client to my starting price at 2k. I get a ton of inquiries that go dark = lots of wasted time. I like your commitment to efficiency and wonder if it's the right move for me.

Ive done both and I think putting the price on the website isn't good because you lose the opportunity to capture their information & to have a meaningful conversation. I also think not putting the price elimates window & lowest price shoppers. I think when ppl take the time to contact you for a quote, that indicates high interest in your services not just curiosity. Another thing I notice is ppl automatically assume you are premium priced when you don't list a price. I might give your way another try. The learning never ends.

i've been posting my prices for years and it's weeded out all the cheapskates from calling me , I love it ! Now days for some odd reason people don't wanna call anymore and talk to a live person, they want the information (usually price) INSTANTLY! . . Why not just give it to em' and post your prices on your website.. I really find it weird how all these DJs act like its some sort of BIG secret what they charge and don't want ANYONE knowing their prices. . It's like you need some kind of top secret security clearance to find out what they charge.. Yo DJs ! Get off your own dick !

Yes I agree with putting pricing up. What I don't understand is why DJs charge for ceremony. It's part of the wedding! Are that many people really only wanting DJs for a reception? Also I've been thinking about just making 1 "package" it will be XXXX and you get ceremony..cocktail..4 hours.. dancefloor lights and uplighting. Done. My whole day is blocked out for the most part anyway

I charge because it is a separate service. It’s like an event all by itself. Even if it’s only 20 minutes there’s a whole timeline and prep sheet just for that. Plus don’t forget there’s the prelude (30 minutes) and the audio. Yes the audio. THE most important day cannot have dropouts. So yes charge for it.

Informative video and cool video series. I agree that 'pre-qualifying' prospects is important, for the sake of everybody's time and avoiding those dreaded phone calls with their first question out of the box "how much?" I like your idea of having different prices for different event hosts, but have balked at executing it myself because it could suggest that DJ B (whose rate is lower than DJ A), is an inferior DJ somehow to DJ A. For example, if Joe Bunn costs $500 more, does that mean his other DJs aren't so good? Of course not, but I could see some clients thinking this way.
