Variety is better because you open your business up to other collectors that might not support the one sport you focus on. I do baseball, basketball, football, hockey and TCG.

I agree. It allows you more opportunities especially when buying. However, it is very difficult to keep track of all players when you do all sports/TCG. If you aren’t as familiar with one, you almost have to pick a person and set to target and go for it.

You definitely need to know what you’re doing. However, as long as you know the basics of who to target. You should be able to pick a person and set with potential and start buying. But I agree, it is much easier when you actively follow a sport. For us, that is football and it makes us much more comfortable taking chances on certain players.
