Ps. 34:20 the reason why this one is odd compared to the other openings is because a massive earthquake devastated Japan (think it was 2011) which also caused 2 episodes of Pokémon to become unreleased. This opening was made cheerful to inspire levity amongst the fans.

Craziest thing about One Piece is that about 97% of episodes are canon while the rest is filler, which is insane considering the amount of episodes. Another crazy thing is that the series has supposedly recently entered its final saga, so we’ll probably see it’s end in about 10 years or so

The characters are the main draw of this series don't expect main characters to die like at all. It's not that kind of seiries. When someone DOES die it's a big event/a result of a big event and never one of the main crew. That doesn't mean there's no tension, the tension comes from emotion. You want the characters to be happy and successful in their goals. They all had hard lives and you come to love them and want good things for them.

Oda handles death differently than other shonen shows. The author believes that to have your dreams crushed by loss and suffer defeat and having to deal with it is more punishing to characters than the sweet release of death. Death does happen from time to time but its never given out cheaply. When it happens, it hits hard. The worst thing you can do as an shonen writer is to kill off characters and bring them back via magic, techniques or wishes. It cheapens their original deaths and shows a lack of creative writing skills.

The MC is Monkey D Luffy, he ate a Devil Fruit called Gum Gum Fruit, which turns his entire body into rubber. That weird pumping motion is basically him pumping his blood super fast to the point his body starts to heat up

This show definitely has some goofy moments, but it also has some heartfelt moments, and story points that will wreck you emotionally if you stick with the story. Its worth the watch if you decide to delve into this world. I've watched since initial release here in the states, and I have not regretted a single minute of it. The animation evolves over time and the crazy character designs keeps things fresh so story arcs don't feel "same-y". I guarantee you'll find a handful of favorite characters as well as stories. If I'm remembering correctly, opening seven "We Are" was made for the first movie. Were they took the Alabasca arc, updated the animation, changed a couple of things so that it better matched the manga, and just compiled what was at the time the biggest major arc into a movie. They could have totally made a brand new opening that was focused on that arc. But instead, they took the original opening, crisped up the animation and had the voice actor of the main characters sing it. Which I really like because it was such a nostalgic treat for the fans.

One piece is like a long term commitment, if you prefer short ones then one piece won't sit with you until you find that one moment that hooks you. It is long but it's one single journey with stories of many and a whole history, this world feels lived in and the characters aren't there just to fill up space.

He's physically the weakest of the crew, but manages to fight when he has to, using tricks, traps, and his inventions, like time he pelted an opponent with rotten eggs. They cursed him for pulling pranks instead of fighting properly, but, due to the rotten egg stank all over them, they could not smell the flammable gas Usopp released in a cloud around the victim, before detonating it with a simple exploding sling pellet.

Oda the author of One Piece actually is either two: A. Afraid of killing characters OR B. Giving too much fake-out death. That's actually one of the problem with One Piece.

Opening 12, the one around the 35 minute mark, basically took a number of Oda's chapter cover pages and animated them. Oda loves drawing his characters just hanging out and vibing.

You are definitely not a fan of One Piece if you're expecting characters to die. Major character deaths rarely, if ever, occur outside of flashbacks. It's actually one of the show's strong suits. Keeping character deaths rare means that they actually have pathos when they do occur.

It is sooooo hard not to gush out spoilers when I watch these reactions. The side cast is huge, and you will never know who will become important so try to remember as many of them as you can. This show is an emotional roller coaster that you will never regret watching. You will laugh, rage, love, hate and ooooh boy will you CRY and it will be worth it. The second version of We Are was sung by the VAs of the main cast. It's a bit slow to start but if picks up once they leave the East Blue. You are correct. None of the MAIN cast die, but we do lose some beloved side characters.

The difference between the First opening and the Tenth opening, is there are no sounds for the various Straw Hats doing their attacks (I.E Zoro's swords making that swoosh noise in the first op) and the vocals are the voice actor's themselves singing it.

Because it's a show about pirates who sail around to different islands with different arcs taking place in different places, One Piece feels like a bunch of smaller shows which then add up into one big show. The number of episodes may seem daunting, but once you get started it's easy to get into.

In One Piece, there are these fruits called Devil Fruits, that grant super powers to whoever eats them. They are separated to 3 classes. Paramecia : these DFs can give your body bizzare abilities rubber, turn your skin into literal diamond or the ability to extract memories. This is the most common DF ability. Zoans : DFs that turn people into animals and can into human/hybrid forms. Like Leopards, bulls and even a fucking giraffe. There are 2 subspecies of this class which are Ancient Zoans, which turn you into prehistoric animals like dinosaurs, and mythical Zoans into mythological creatures like Dragons. Then we have Logia : This ability can turn the user into any natural element. From Ice, Sand, Fire, Magma and even light itsel. Don't be confused with some of the Paremcias, cause Paramecias can best generate or conjure materials, but they can't actually turn into said material. Another ability Logias have is that they are practically untouchable. I mean, have you tried punching fire or smoke before? Nothing happens to it And one more thing. : the downside of DF users is that they can never ever swim. So once they are in the water, they are practically goners

Best way to on-board One Piece is to just Read The Manga. It's the most complete story with the best pacing and the least amount of problems to work around. ...Buut, if you don't have the capacity to read due to decades of internet-abuse, you also have the options of the "One Pace" fan-edit of the anime, and the surprisingly good recent Live-Action adaptation on Netflix. Both are at least decent ways to find out whether this story is for you.
