Agreed. Relegation needs to happen. And enough with the draft already. Just sign players out of college or wherever they go to play. If Adam Silver is so set on copying European soccer leagues and formats then this is a no-brainer.

Relegate the worst ten teams. Add two expansion teams to the newly formed second division. In the second division everyone plays each other four times. In the first division everyone plays each other three times. The winner of the second division playoffs gets promoted. The worst team in the first division gets relegated. The second worst team from the first division and the loser of the second division finals play one winner takes all game for the promotion/attempt to avoid relegation. The draft is split between the two leagues. The first division only has one round, the second division gets two rounds. Trades between the leagues are allowed.

Honestly I like it. The Pistons have won 302 games over the last ten years excluding 23-24, it’s embarrassing & doesn’t bode well for expansion. Here’s what I’d suggest: Dispersal - any team with less than 350 wins in the last ten years is subject to a dispersal draft, in which the team is disbanded and players are drafted in an expansion style draft. Owners get whatever they can sell for it and the NBA has the right to start a new franchise wherever it wants. One exception would be “historic” franchises (i.e. if the team has won a championship in the last 40 seasons), so the Pistons would be safe - for now

The league should reconfigure thusly: top 4 in each conference go into the playoffs; 5 and 6 are in a kind of no-man's land; 7, 8, 9 and 10 enter into best-of-seven 'qualifier' series against 11, 12, 13 and 14, where the losers (along with the team that finsihes 15) will be put into an 'exclusion bracket' for next season. This means that 10 teams every year can't win the title and will have to win their qualifier series at the end of the season in order to get out of the exclusion bracket. All teams will still play each other every year and the seeding for the qaulifiers will be determined by whether you are in the exclusion bracket and then by record. This would:- Make the lengthy 82 game regular season more relevant and competitive and reduce stars resting. Drastically reduce tanking. Engage far more fans right up to the end of the season (24 of 30 teams would have some sort of post-season). And by using the qualifiers as an aperitif for the playoffs, could provide a significant period of rest for the contenders.

Yes, but almost all team in the G-League is affiliated to all NBA teams and star the players will not play there. It will he hard to resrtucture the NBA and G League.

Relegation would kill the whole point of an NBA Draft and Young players won't be able to develop properly if relegation was a implemented. And If there's relegation, there might be way worse teams that are gonna come in the league
