How though? I agree that they've been absolutely awful & genuinely worse than I've ever seen them in my life as it being nearly every week that they get an obvious decision that a child could identify 100% wrong but what's the solution? Wolves couldn't put a motion to "Get better referee's" because the media & PGMOL stick to the line that we've got some of the best referee's on the planet.

@@Unkul_Chips before var it was left to the refs on the pitch and the refs in the premier league is so bad I think we all can agree that's why var was brought in but the problem is idiots run the system and even the they have 3 4k monitors in front of them they still make the wrong decision we need the people in control of var to piss off

@Unkul_Chips If the police can't solve crime, you're not gonna blame the security cameras for showing the crime. Likewise, why would you get angry at the technology which shows the decisions but not the referees who can't use the technology to make the right one

The way I see it is that the complaints are no different than the complaints about incompetent referees before VAR was introduced. Just because their decisions are being influenced by a piece of technology doesn’t mean it’s the technology’s fault.

Keep Goal Line Tech and use the new Automated offsides and thats it. We are still looking at subjective VAR descions and saying they got it wrong so whats the point. The ref may aswell just get it wrong on pitch and we move on. Instead we wait 5 minutes, all see the slow mo replay and they still get it wrong. Its utterly pointless.

This clear and obvious bs is nonsense, each manager should have the chance to contest 3 decisions during the game. The offside being automated means that would only be for fouls or penalties. Ref has to review the monitor, problem solved.

Like they’re all saying it’s the problem with the refs not the actual technology. I just think the protocol should be better and clearer, it should follow a consistent pattern. The many problems this season is the lack of consistency in reviews in different matches.

VAR facilitates match fixing more than without VAR. They can study different scenarios before each match and have more time to make (corrupt) decisions during the VAR reviews. Without VAR, every decision is quick and immediate on the pitch, these refs simply cannot afford to make mistakes one after another. There will still be corruption, but less in my opinion. With VAR, they can simply say it's not their responsibility because it is a VAR decision.

agree, especially the "clear and obvious error" thing is clearly still not implemented yet. and when the main reff checking into the screen, suddenly he turned into dumb robot. zero knowledge about physics or foorball spirit, only textbook rules. even fingertips touch will be considered as a genuine push or penalty. then it combined into blatant double standard

Human element needs removing from offside decisions similar to goal line checks, these should be controlled by VAR. All other decisions should be done by the ref, if the ref does not see it then VAR should not intervene, if the refs blows then VAR can check uts correct

VAR isn't the problem. Leaving decisions to the people who've been getting obvious things wrong is gonna be an absolute shit show. Get rid of the ring of thieves running the show and we'll see better game management.

Automate the system as much as possible. We're getting semi auto offside. Hopefully they'll add goal line for all lines on the pitch. Refs need to be either micd up, or post match interviews. Hold them accountable to some degree

The excuse of swearing as as a reason for having refs not be miced up is stupid, They will now be more careful, there can be broadcast delays to beep it like in F1 and if players audibly swear, you give them a warning. It's as simple as that

in my opinion, the future will be Ai refereeing. What this means is similar to xG and xA. Ai will be able to use previous correct and incorrect decisions to make accuratedecisions for the future. It will be 99% accurate once the Ai system learns what is a correct decision and incorrect decision and will make controversial decisions much more consistent. Bookmark this. It will be a thing one day.

The only way for Premier league to keep var is if they adopt foreign referees. Referee that understand the game and also have dignity to the game. There's no point having var with English ref, how they give a red one week and not the next week for similar fouls still baffles my mind. Same with penalties.

Doesn't matter....refs were "biased/corrupt/blind" or whatever pre VAR but atleast the game had a good flow. VAR would work brilliantly if refs were mic'd up and held to account on their decisions but sorry peeps...too much money at stake😢

Bad refreeing will never change. Atleast before the game was free flowing and ref was directly responsible. Now some video ref gives wrong decisons from some room after watching 10000 replays. Scrap VAR.

The ONLY correct answer is KEEP VAR and Remove the PGMOL and Uk refs. We have seen VAR used so well in the World Cup, Euros and AFCON and why is that? It's cus the refs are 99% not English, no one wants to talk about it, instead they're blaming technology instead of the ppl controlling it. No other industry will you get state of the art technology and the ppl using it avoid blame..
