Doctor Who is a British science-fiction television programme broadcast by the BBC since 1963. The programme depicts the adventures of a Time Lord called the Doctor, an extraterrestrial being who appears to be human. The Doctor explores the universe in a time-travelling space ship called the TARDIS. The TARDIS exterior appears as a blue British police box,
which was a common sight in Britain in 1963 when the series first aired. With various companions, the Doctor combats foes, works to save civilisations, and helps people in need.
Beginning with William Hartnell, thirteen actors have headlined the series as the Doctor; in 2017, Jodie Whittaker became the first woman to officially play the role on television. The transition from one actor to another is written into the plot of the show with the concept of regeneration into a new incarnation,
a plot device in which a Time Lord "transforms" into a new body when the current one is too badly harmed to heal normally. Each actor's portrayal is unique, but all represent stages in the life of the same character, and together, they form a single lifetime with a single narrative. The time-travelling feature of the
plot means that different incarnations of the Doctor occasionally meet.
The show is a significant part of British popular culture, and elsewhere, it has gained a cult following. It has influenced generations of British television professionals, many of whom grew up watching the series. Fans of the series are sometimes referred to as Whovians. The programme is listed in Guinness World Records
as the longest-running science-fiction television show in the world, as well as the "most successful" science-fiction series of all time, based on its overall broadcast ratings, DVD and book sales, and iTunes traffic.
The programme originally ran from 1963 to 1989. There was an unsuccessful attempt to revive regular production in 1996 with a backdoor pilot in the form of a television film titled Doctor Who. The programme was relaunched in 2005 and since then, has been produced in-house by BBC Wales in Cardiff.
Doctor Who has also spawned numerous spin-offs, including comic books, films, novels, audio dramas, and the television series Torchwood (2006-2011), The Sarah Jane Adventures (2007-2011), K9 (2009-2010), and Class (2016). It has been the subject of many parodies and references in popular culture.

I can't say I liked the classic daleks even the ones in good condition, they just looked like they were made from aluminium, outside the dalek city in the dead planet or the kaled bunker , they don't look that heavy

I think the spider daleks are cumbersome and vulnerable, even more than the regular daleks, anything destroys the legs and the spider daleks are screwed

The Spiders in the novel The War Of The Daleks were incredibly tough and required a direct hit from a heavy explosive projectile to even damage a leg. The only way the Thals eventually managed to win the fight was by using a large tactical nuke.

Updated Special Weapons Daleks. Spiders. Striders. Marine Daleks. Hoverbouts. Dispense with the saucers and return to the Killcruisers.

It would be nice to see more gunstick variants as well as tool attachments. I feel like an electro bow and arrow arm which fires energy bolts would be cool.

If they do, maybe they should go the multi-coloured Dalek route, but instead go with a scheme like this (rather than the distracting colour scheme of the Paradigm Daleks): White/Black and Gold Crimson and Silver/Gold Gun Metal Grey and Black Black and Silver Makes them look more threatening and pays tribute to Daleks of eras past.

I think that is fair-I remember many many years ago being struck by the radical design of the Marsh Dalek from the 1964 Dalek Book-it was a a sort of Dalek on stilts-I really liked it and waited for it to show up on tv( I was quite young).

I never looked to deep into the Marsh Daleks, an interesting take for sure! And to re-iterate my point, a redesign doesn't mean the death of the originals

The Daleks, or any kind of icon or symbol are tricky. Change too much, we get another Paradigm situation. Change too little, and we're stuck with a slightly different Bronze Dalek. Don't get me wrong, I like the Bronze design, I can't imagine anyway to improve it. But I'm so tired of seeing them all the time. Like you said, the Bronze design was for the Time War, but that is over, even the Doctor has moved on. Yes, I know that the Daleks have no concept of elegance and that they want a conformist-militant look, but the Bronze design feels so stale now. I'm hoping that we might see a revamped version of a classic design (60's personally) much like how we saw the Mondasian Cybermen in World Enough and Time and the Doctor Falls, or having classic looking Sontarans in War of the Sontarans. I have faith that the design team will come up with something great. Hey, if they recruited a fan to help make the show's opening, who's to say they couldn't recruit a fan to help design the Daleks?

It would be great if Daleks acted as proper army units as in their would be a Special Weapons Dalek accompanied by 3 Executioner Daleks which would act as Infantry Fighting Vehicles, in front of them would be 2 Recon Daleks scouting the area and of course 5 regular Daleks acting as infantry (One of the infantry Daleks is a Squad Leader with a red dome) In total their would be a squad of 10 Daleks acting as a proper military combined force and there would be hundreds of these, Daleks would no longer act alone and become cannon fodder. of course I would give them different colours and a new casing, the new colour would be Green and Black for Infantry, Blue and Gold for Executioner Daleks, Darker Blue and Silver for The Special Weapons Dalek and Recon Scouts would be a greyish Black because they are supposed to be stealthy.

Actually the paradigm you glossed over was a redesign by ThePrydonian... making the shoulders more in line to the standard silhouette of a Dalek design with out the massive hunch... sorry I missed this one... But great vid as usual.. Im hoping for something along the lines of The renders by james johnson and ant lamb whihc I also think theyve been in contact with due to helping in 3D art over the last 5 years so who knows whats gone on BTS... I think that using the NSD as a basis but implement the paradigm ideas of colour coding and new small elements such as dome lights... plungers and so forth .. cheap and cost effective... but glad to know where getting something new Cameron

there have been loads of variants of the time war daleks made by fans it would be fun to see some used in the show or if it's a total redesign then going back to something more like the classic daleks.....and some new voices ffs lol they always had 2-3 actors doing the voices and it worked better than just one

I'd actually be against fans actually designing stuff for the show, it sets a precedent for fans to dominate the creative direction, the FANS DONT OWN the show, the paradigm daleks were a gross example of when you let fans dictate things The pyrodonian shouldn't have any involvement, being a fan should exclude creative involvement by default Thr show will never change if fans dictate things
