The only word I can think of to describe Harry Maguire is he's a weasel. He cannot publicly blame De Gea and his other team mates for his bad form, nobody can. Nobody can blame the people around them for their misfortunes, particularly publicly. H e needs to grow up, act like a mature adult and take responsibility for HIS form and performances. I think the best course of action now would be to sell Maguire, let both Phil Jones and Axel Tuanzebe leave for free and then make another attempt to sign Jurrien Timber next summer. Maguire’s transfer fee along with the huge deduction in salaries (likely around £400,000 a week), would easily cover Jurrien Timber’s transfer and without affecting next years transfer budget.

He uses the case of him not being liked, but he’s not liked for good reason; poor form, poor leadership, no personal reflection, no accountability, no encouragement to other players, no teamwork and poor attitude. I'm happy with Maguire as back up for this season. It's not like Varane won't get injured. Unlike many I think Lindelof is even worse than Maguire. Last season, when Varane actually played, this Champions League and World Cup winning Ferrari of a centre back was always deferring to Maguire. You could see it. He didn't speak, he just kept his head down and made his tackles. It's understandable because Maguire is the captain after all. Since being partnered with Martinez though, Varane is talking more and doing a lot more organising and that's what you want from someone of his pedigree. He looks far more in control when Maguire isn't playing.
