Absolutely yes. I got mine last year and have been going through classics I played as a kid in high school. No microtransactions, no pay to win monetizations, no DLCs, no broken games, no preachy political agendas, just pure raw fun gameplay.

I never had a PS2 (played on my Dreamcast, Xbox, and PC), but I did enjoy a few games on there. My all time favorite game was Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy.

i will never shame anyone for buying a PS2 in any year at any part of galaxy ever. great purchase , i still have my PS2 and use it to this day.

So much nostalgia and love for this console. This is Sony’s prime console. The height of their game. Even to this day Sony will stop short of saying the PS4 or PS5 is on pace to beat the PS2 in lifetime sales. We will never get a console like the PS2 again. We will never see a console with so many bangers left and right. When both Japanese games and Western games gave it their best efforts. The variety, quality, value can’t be matched to this day. The PlayStation peaked with this console and it’s been garbage ever since.

I just spent almost 200 dollars on a factory sealed PS2 and 360 controller, waiting for them to come through the mail. Both my consoles are modded to play backups, so excited to get to play them again!

I'm not sure if I could ever choose between the PS2 and the 360, I have so many great memories with both. So many sleepless nights, playing games instead. I remember playing Dynasty Warriors 2, 3, 4, 5, hitting that square button to attact a couple million times. I remember making dozens of wrestlers in Shut Your Mouth and Here Comes the Pain, and taking them into Season Mode. I remember playing Kingdom Hearts day 1, not understanding anything, dying on the first boss, hating the game and giving up. I went back a few months later and it's now one of my favorite games. Tekken Tag and Tekken 5, what a time to be alive. Vice City and San Andreas, Simpsons Road Rage, and Hit & Run (no Skateboarding though). Freedom Fighters.. I fucking loved that one. Def Jam: Fight for N.Y., throwing Snoop Dogg out the window. I'm gonna stop now, I just got a wee bit nostalgic. PS2, great system. PS: A few deep cuts I really enjoyed: Metropolismania, Largo Winch: Empire Under Threat, Playboy: The Mansion (I played it for the articles), Jurassic Park: Operation Genesis, Urban Chaos: Riot Response. What a great console generation.

I still have a ps2 slim from 2005 that works, but no tv with a scart socket -_-. This is why back compat is so important.

I already got mine last week. I got it from EBay for $100 with 2 controllers and 2 games. It’s a totally different atmosphere when you power up this console. Brought me so many old memories it’s a totally different feeling to play games straight up your PS2 console. I have a PS5, PS4, XBOX One X and a Series S. I’ll probably get a PS3 sometime this year.

OF F'N COURSE! I stuck with Xbox for many years now, but I still have a collosal soft spot for PSX, PS2 and PSP. That's just my childhood in a nutshell and I crave for nostalgia. I still want to buy them and I will someday. Well, besides PSP, because I have it somewhere alive and working, but the condition of it is not the best. So yeah, they're still worth every damn penny.

I’ve been doing the same thing but with an Xbox 360 and an OG Xbox. I’m only a wee lad (22) so I was about 7-8 when I got my hands on gaming, so I started with the PS2 but I switched eventually. Just a bunch of games I either missed out on or remember fondly , so when modern gaming is upsetting me I boot up the box. I even took it a step further and got a 2005 Funai 20” LCD Tv for that crisp 480p feel and chair to just sink into. It’s really great.

Been working on my ps2 collection for a while, i have over 100 games and have completed maybe 20 of them lol, mainly play alot of the old nba and nfl street games as well as replaying kh 1,2 and bbs(psp version). Ssx tricky and the tony hawk games also took up alot of my time and i loved it

PS2 was and will always be my favorite console. I got it for my 12th birthday and had it ever since. I still have games that I owned back in 2001 and after. Final fantasy X and kingdom hearts 1 and 2 are my favorite games I still like to play on my PS2.

PS2 was the 1st ever console I got at an age of 8 in 2010. Still the goat that carried my childhood before I properly got into PC gaming a couple years later. Still have it fully working in one of the drawers, and then my old CRT at my grandma's place somewhere. Nowadays I emulate it usually with a CRT filter but the memories playing countless hours of GTA San Andreas, Spyro or old Scooby-Doo games on that thing are priceless. In other words, nostalgia is a powerful thing, and PS2 is still the best console ever created to me. Very good video, keep it up :p

I agree the ps2 was a good console. PS2 a lot of good Castlevania games, Xeno saga, Kingdom hearts 1 & 2, Time crisis 2 & 3 and Final Fantasy 11.

I got a original PS2 off a work colleague for £10 its in great condition, just got Gran Turismo 3 and SSX 3 for it. I have to use a componant cable to hdmi converter but it works. PS2 was Sony best ever era in gaming

Nobody has disk drives anymore but playing game straight from disk or making your own backups and using pcsx2 is by far the best way to play these games. Im playing for ps2 games on my series s ps2 emulator than anything else

I missed out on the chance to purchase a PS2 since my uncle generously gave me his. I vividly recall the rainy day when my brother and I hooked it up. We played Vice City for a bit and then we quickly went to Blockbuster to rent MGS2. Simpler days for sure.

goddamn when you said 200 for Xenosaga 3 I almost fell out of my chair. I don't collect anymore but I remember thhinking the prices for it were crazy back in 2018/2019 at $80.I didn't know just how bad it's gotten since then. I do a mix of all 3 (emulating, modded with hdd, and physical) but I definitely second modding a phat one if you still want the real thing without draining your wallet. I got one with a broken disc drive for $13 and modded it, works great.

i still have my ps2 slim...it works fine...chrono trigger is in the disc tray right now...my old discs don't work in an emulator and i have some cool ones like parasite eve 1and 2, nightmare creatures 1 and 2, rise of kasai, colony wars, etc...i would also suggest finding the logitech wireless controllers for it as well, they're excellent

My very first PS2 only played ps1 games and audio CDs for some reason. Never did understand why. Every PS2 game we put in always got an error saying unsupported format.

WOW! The year 2000 shit I was 5yrs old, time really does fly by. I was playing the PS1, N64, SNES, SEGA: Mega Drive/Genesis, NES and even the SEGA: Saturn in that year lol. 2002 I had an OG Xbox that came with Halo: Combat Evolved, Jet Set Radio and Medal of Honor: Frontline. I miss the late 90's and the early 2000's, we actually had good shit back then. But right now I'll just emulate them.

Back in 2001 I was at my sister’s place for the summer and I was playing fight night round 2 and I went to the kitchen for a drink and came back and her dog chewed my player 1 controller wire and ended up shorting out the player 1 port on my PS2. Luckily that fall my classmate was coming back for year 2 of college and he let me borrow his ps2 box and I returned it to Wal Mart without a receipt and they gave me a brand new ps2 and I gave my buddy his ps2 box back lol good times

A legend. PS2 was the console I personally grew up with. Even when the PS3 was around for years. I still played on my PS2 more than Xbox and Wii. I still can't believe Sony hasn't made a new emulator for PS2 games on PS4/PS5. This system has some of the greatest games ever made.

I have a 32 inch CRT with a amazing picture (with S Video near HD quality) that I use for my retro consoles. PS2\GC\Xbox\DC was such a great generation.

Well. PS2 its only one of many. I actually play Sega genesis from time to time and even gave a "tower of power" setup. I also like N64, SNES and even f_ing Jaguar. Good stuff. Btw, cartridges its just on different level of pleasure to have it on hand.

Speaking of falling asleep to the menu, my best friend had fallen asleep and was woken up to the alien noises that the OG Xbox had when it was idle after a certain amount of time and it was coincidentally timed to the witching hour at 3 in the morning. Scared the ever living Hell out of him lol

Great video. The PS2 is the greatest console of all time. I gave up on modern gaming during the PS3 era when all the nonsense started to happen. There are more then enough PS1 and PS2 games to last my lifetime and they will always be playable in the future.

Honestly I just use a decent component cable on my LG4k and the picture quality is really not bad at all!

I keep my ps2 in case of burnout on modern gaming which happens from time to time and need about a recharge for about a good while. That console generation was pure unadulterated bliss.

I have a 60gb PS3 fully backwards compatible with PS2 and PS1 games. To me that's the best console of all time. Can play PS2 and PS1 games, newer gen PS3 games like God of War 3, Uncharted 1-3, Last of Us 1, MGS4, GT5/6, GTA 4. I got it reballed and repasted and got a power supply and fan from a slim. Still works perfectly today. And no need to pay for online gaming.

I somehow have four PS2 slims, but still want a original fatboy for adding a drive. I still have a lot of original games, but the sea of ROMs out there is insane. So much left to explore. I salute all of you who are still keeping yours going o7

PS2 was the peak console of all time for me, I had some of the best memories of gaming in my life, games from Metal Gear Solid 2, Devil May Cry 3, All of the Onimusha games wow, God Hand just banger after banger of games, nothing beat just pure fun gameplay, most games had a soul and identity, just from both the art style to the gameplay, I am miss cheat codes back in the day, you get to custom your own gaming experience

Lifelong PS2 lover here, recommended games: Armored Core, Ace Combat, Sub Rebellion, Sky Odyssey, Gungriffon Blaze, Mojo, FF12, I could go on and on

I got a PS3 and a Sanyo HT30746 HD CRT and have been playing Metal Gear Solid 4 Guns of the Patriots. I also have a PS1 and going to be grabbing an S-Video A/V cable and FFVIII, and even considering finding a 13”-20” Sony Trinitron CRT to play the PS1, and even find a NES and SNES and grab Super Mario Bros 3, and the Donkey Kong Country trilogy.

We grew up in the best time of gaming. Starting out with NES and seeing each generation bring real innovation to gaming was amazing looking back.

I remember the hype when on metal gear solid 2 sons of liberty trailer from the PlayStation magazine demo disk days back in late 2000. After playing metal gear solid on PlayStation then having to see solid snake detailed in that trailer was unbelievable. Seeing the trailer back then blew my mind then my brother bought a ps2 and we played metal gear solid 2 was just a great memory to even have. I laugh out loud when modern gaming are constantly bringing back old games just by remakes and remastering. It just goes to show you people just want to sit back and play a game and not watch and play a cinematic game by pressing one button. When Alex said I’m dealing with a mid life crisis I felt that since I’m doing the same thing with my ps2 collection

I still have my PS2 but the only time I touched it in years was to get my save files to my PC. When I tried it for a bit at that time it didn't make me feel better, it was just annoying having to switch disks and memory cards. Nostalgia weirdly just doesn't seem to work on me. Although it wasn't my only system and I was more fond of my PC and my actual video games and I never stopped playing my old favorites. I don't know if that affects it at all but I guess so. EyeToy is really fun though

I totally missed out on the PS 2 console and original Xbox and Gamecube era. Mostly played on PC then. But still very thankful I got a PS 3 later and was able to play PS 2 games that were ported to the PS 3 via remasters etc

I highly recommend you install an HDD and have OPL on a Memory Card and install your DVD Games on the HDD or SATA SSD, if you buy the newer model of HDD extension, not the original one Sony made because HDD are another connection.

This video definitely brought a lot of the nostalgia I had with the PS2 back in the mid-2000's. I got to play gems such as Gran Turismo 3, the Jak and Daxter series (now I own the PS4 ports on PS5 for nostalgia reasons :'D), Sonic Heroes (it was the worst version at the time, but I still had fun with it 😂😂; I currently own that game on PC), Dragon Ball Z: Sagas (I know that game is pretty trash, but the recordings of the anime scenes were pretty cool to look though 😀😀😂😂), Lego Star Wars: the Videogame, and a whole bunch of low budget licensed games that me and my older brother thought were fun at the time 😂😂😂. That console definitely made me and my older brother the gamers we are today 👌👌👌👌.

Love the PS2. Had some of the best sports games before they shoved in micro transactions like ESPN NFL 2K, NBA Street Vol 2, the Burnout series and Hot Shots Golf.
