I don’t agree with going all digital, but game loss has been an issue with the gaming industry since it started. It’s not like you can play Nintendo games in your N64. Physical media is just as guilty. We used to have multiple consoles just so we can play our retro games on technology that’s becoming harder to find.

I speculate that Xbox was getting ready to drop Activision Blizzard games........But not sure. Agree every game you own should be playable offline forever not for 30 days or some crap either. It is why I have bought many games from GOG and backed them up and invested years ago in 360 games and consoles. Movies too. I will not be told I cannot play my games or watch my movies without internet so they can farm data to sell ect.

I can play my owned games offline on my series s even my digital games especially gears of war 3 I just cannot play games I downloaded from gamepass, I can play my digital and physical games offline on my ps5 except helldivers 2 which you have to be online or GT7 remember what happen when you couldn't play that game online it was very restricted. I can play steam games offline if they do not require online. I do not know how the wanderer thinks playstation is superior if psn is down.

That Tim guy didn’t need to remove his ethernet cord. All he had to do was hit off-line mode that cuts access to the ethernet off but yeah, there should be a prompt when there is the server issue to go to off-line mode.

When Xbox went down, I just turned my Series X to offline mode in the settings, played my games just fine. Do people not know that this is an option? Xbox said they're dedicated to game preservation so hopefully any digital games bought now will be able to be played in the future. As for PS, Nintendo, who knows.

Offline mode is necessary, physical media is a necessity, and this why physical > digital.
