Going over whether you should buy a Xbox in 2024, which console you should buy whether that's the Xbox Series X/S or retro & going over just where the brand is headed down the road. Things are grimmer than prior but Game Pass alongside backwards compatibility & other features can make things enticing for differing types of players that are out. They've just revived their "backward compatibility team" so hopefully we'll start getting "new" fps boosted/HDR/4k updated games, specially from their Activision/Blizzard ips.

Actually that was just a clevely worded statement from Sarah Bond. She never said that they are reviving the BC team, she said they are "building" upon what they did and now commiting to "forward compatibility". So she is actually saying that they just want what is playable on the current Xbox (including the current BC list) to be playable on every xbox platform going forward.

Xbox for me is a Backword matchine for the seventh gen games. So if you got discs from that era - X is the one to get. If you are a new guy to xbox and lack the money - S.

I've gotten the S in Times where it was uncommen that it would be sold under 250€ used payed like 160€ for a brand new one and what should I say. Using Eneba for Regional Keys that you can activate via VPN is often even cheaper than buying Steam Games in Turkey. Xbox Series S and Steam Deck are absolute safe-penny machines when you know where you look I got the egypt Version of BG3 on Launch Day for like 12€

My new PC plans recently got put on hold due to medical expenses for my wife. I'd be interested in a Xbox Series X if I didn't have this nagging feeling that the relative weakness of the Xbox Series S is holding back what XSX can do in games.

@@pricelessppp - For remote work/games on my 14" laptop ( my desktop PC died) I'm going to get a 32" Sony Bravia 4K Google TV for my office/gameroom. I play mainly older games and this laptop is good for 900p to 1080p at 60 fps in most games. Newer games...forget it.

Don't worry about that. If the Series S is holding back what the XSX can do, then it is also holding back the entire industry because its only holding back how developers "design" games. The only argument is that Sony exclusives are obviously not held back by the Series S. I know this might sound strange depepnding on how much one might know about game development. But the majority of all games are multiplatform, so yeah if the XSS is holding anything back, then its holding back how multiplats are designed across the board. Its just that a powerful PC can run them alot better. The other thing to note is, that the Series S has the same CPU as the Series X it just has a weaker GPU. Why is this important? Because the Series S targets a lower resolution, and the lower resolution you go, the less dependent you are on the GPU and more you are on the CPU. So I dont think think the Series S is holding anything back at all. It is just a lower resolution Series X. If you were really wanting a PC than I can't argue. I love the PC. If its gonna be years until you build a PC than just pick up a used Series X or PS5 and just go with what seems cooler to you for the time being. Jump into PC when your ready.

For me personally I would still go with a Console even if I do have a powerful PC because you'll never know when the PC could become Damaged or unresponsive. And Besides they're also doing Xbox Game pass PC, so discontinuing the consoles wouldn't be Good for a lot of people, It Still satisfies me as a Consumer.

I chose xbox series x over ps5 because you can find game codes and therefore buy games significantly cheaper while you cannot even find activation codes for ps5 games…. So if you have dilemma , my recommendation is xsx, game pass is great, sure you can use game pass on pc but good pc costs shit load of money and will 100% die before any console…. In the end its personal opinion

I use my 360 and ps3 more than these newer consoles. Also have a wii to play wii sports and band hero which these newer consoles don’t have. They just need to make it so we can play these older games on newer consoles.

I wanted to buy a Series X for the backwards compatibility of some games that aren't on PC. But when they stopped adding the BC games my interest just deflated. When I have the extra money, I'll buy it, but it's not a good sign when a purchase doesn't excite but you rather just go "eh". I don't care about a single game they've released recently / will release later. Except for Perfect Dark, since they haven't yet shown how crappy it will be. They have a strong legacy but they canceled the BC program - such a bummer. Especially since there are quite a few exclusives that weren't made compatible. They aren't even making a Pro console, so when later games start coming out, Series X will fall behind PS5 Pro in performance. So even the "power" card will be lost.

I personally hate UE5 as the majority of devs just shove stuff out on it that is at questionable frame-rates and resolutions on all the current-gen consoles. It’s dated these consoles only half way through their life and this generation as a result has just been so depressing to go through in the console space. I don’t mind 30fps games but sub 1080p even on a PS5 and Series X is just mind boggling and then you have Sony throwing a “pro” console at the unoptimised messes we get to brute force it. I cannot believe I’d be saying this at the start of this generation but last-gen was leagues better in every way.

Buy the Series X!! I have both PS5 and Series S for more than a year now and I would happily trade my current consoles for a Series X. I love PS5 for the visuals, but I am just not able to find my peace with the "critically acclaimed" dual sense controller. With due respect to amazing haptics and adaptive triggers, I am still trying to find the correct way to hold it and my thumbs are always hunting for a good grip on those analogue sticks. On the flip side, the Xbox controller won me over and over again with it's well sorted ergonomics (at least for my hands). There is something about those offset concave sticks and smaller size that makes in-game movements feel tighter, making long gaming sessions much more enjoyable. But the trade-off with the Series S is the visual fidelity. I am seriously considering Switching to Series X as my one and only console.

Imho depends on what you want better hardware cheaper games and backwards compatibility go with Xbox and if you care about better exclusives then go with PlayStation or Nintendo

Most people here play Xbox I think. But I will never buy a Xbox because I already have a Ps5/Switch. And if I buy something new it will be a new Pc(I really don't like pc)and only because my children can use it for other things than games. But I am really really hyped now to be able to play Sea of Thieves on PS5. The game looks so good and I really like games from warm countrys.

I think they're putting too many eggs into the Game Pass basket. As good as it is? It's not enough to convince people to go out and buy Xbox hardware. So their rumoured Xbox handheld is probably their last chance to get a lot of people on board with Xbox as a platform.

In my opinion, Xbox already has the golden goose (all these studios they own) and the means to go toe-to-toe with PlayStation. The part that confounds me is their refusal to actually take advantage of it. If they weaponized their exclusives and said you have to buy an xbox to play Call of Duty the “console wars” would end tomorrow (there’s an absurd amount of people who literally only play CoD). Instead, they’re passing exclusives to PlayStation with nothing in return and it’s just confusing.

I ditched the PS ecosystem this generation in favour of the Xbox Series X because of Starfield. I haven't played the game. I saw the leaked gameplay, I thought I'd wait for a sale, but after release the game had bigger issues. The backwards compatibility, and FPS boost stuff ended not long after I bought the Series X. PS is more popular, and I find there are more used copies of PS games, and cheaper. I don't have game pass, it doesn't interest me. I thought Phil was going to bring back the Xbox 360 days with the Series X, but Phil has failed. Xbox as a brand is dead. It'll be game pass, and MS game studios releasing games on other platforms. The dude is right, if Xbox becomes a niche, who will want to develop games for it? Will MS have to spend more money for these developers to develop games for their platforms, and if so, will Xbox games be more expensive? There is nothing exciting about Xbox, as a gamer. The Series X is a great machine. I've had no issues with it, and quick resume is a great feature, but the potential is being wasted. I'll be saving up for the PS5 Pro.

@@RidersOnTheStorm73 Absolutely I can. I'm not interested in 1440p, or even 1080. I'd GLADLY take a 720p game at 60fps. But then again, I'm fine with 30fps. A good game is not dependent on frames or super high resolution. I don't care about being the bigliest and most goodest. I just want a fun game.

A good reason to buy an Xbox is if you only play on consoles, you don't want to touch PC gaming, for some reason, and you are thinking about getting a PS5, which I think it's an even worst idea. Regardless of sales, the Xbox is a much better console than the PS5. You should get a PC tho.

@@Glc0077 It has Game Pass, regional pricing, and better multiplayers. That is enough for me to consider it a better console. I want to play videogames, and every single game that comes to Game Pass feels like a huge win to me, and I'm a PC gamer. When it comds down to their multiplayer titles, I'm playing two of them right now (Forza Horizon 5 and Fallout 76), and I did play Sea Of Thieves and Grounded a long time ago too (not they are on PS5, but they weren't at the time. Same with Hi-Fi Rush the night of the shadow drop on Game Pass, but that is not a mp)... I can have access to all that with Game Pass. What do you think I was thinking about while writing this comment? PC destroys both platforms, but do you think that if I was forced to choose a console I would go for the PS5 just because of a few exclusives? In that regard, I also like what you can find on Xbox, because I love Halo, Forza, Gears, Sunset Overdrive, etc + I'm waiting for some of their upcoming games like Hellblade 2 and Avowed (a Pillars Of Eternity spin-off), so it's not like you aren't getting access to anything besides multiplats. I already pre-ordered STALKER 2 on Steam, so I'll not take advantadge of that one with Game Pass, but in general, Game Pass has exactly what I'm looking to play pretty often. Btw: bad luck for you. And be prepared to spend 5x the money in three years when the graphics card and cpu become obsolete. Also it’s helpful to be a tech guru in order to fix all the issues that come with pc gaming.

Definitely not after Phil Spencer and Sarah bond wants more Xbox games on PlayStation and Nintendo,wish Microsoft would do it like Sony 2/3 years apart before putting games on PC to give the console some relevancy
