Doesn't matter if the Air 3 is better bang for buck if its over 250g and it's a hassle to bring it for travel and use many places around the world. It's like comparing a laptop to a desktop computer, they are for completely different use cases.

Air 3 is regulation for flying in Euro countries , you need a fly degree over 250gr , so depending on were you life this also important ( or not 🤪)

The biggest consideration is that you need a license in every country to fly the Air. That's a deal breaker for me.

I think you're referring to the licence for mini 3/4 pro (249g) anything above it is harder I'm sure and requires actual exams. So mini wins for me.

I'm always excited to see a new video from you, but I'd appreciate it if you didn't exaggerate the content in your headlines. I understand the need for "click baits" however one would think there's a major reason to not buy the Mini 4 Pro only to find that it's always about preference and budget.

Agree with your demonstration and comparison. But there one thing, you speak for Americans who have to comply to FCC rules which I don't know quite well. Living in Europe (CE) France, the only drones we can fly without too many hassles are the Mini because of their weight (below 250g). We can fly in much more places, fly upon people (not a crowd) etc. That is a huge point to take into consideration. When you are a certified pilot, doing commercial work with drones, you should of course get the Mavic Air 3 or, even better, the Mavic 3 Pro Cinema version. So, CE rules and regulations make it much better to get a light drone like the M4P. Actually, I have a love/hate relationship with DJI, a huge business company which pushes us to keep on purchasing new drones. I've got both M3P and M4P. Side sensors apart, these f... could have well done a firmware upgrade to the M3P but they prefer to bring out a new model so that we may fill their pocket ! Great analysis ! GG

Most people dont fly a lot over crowd. I fly drones professionally for 8 years now and maybe three times i had to fly over groups of people (with permission). I prefer the Air 3, which can also be flown in the A1 subcategory. People can easily shedule flights and dont need to fly over groups of people. The Mini drones arent bad, but i am not a fan of the smartphone video quality. Most of the time i still fly the Mavic 3 pro. You dont have to buy new drones all the time. Dji doesnt force you. The Mini 3 pro was released mid 2022. Its not that within the same serie new drones are released every month.

@@ChristiaanRoest79 You clearly don't get the law. From next year, non-C marked drones over 250g will be ENTIRELY illegal to fly ANYWHERE NEAR ANY VISIBLE INDIVIDUALS at all. And the Air 3 does not have a C class marking. Meaning, from next year, you can only fly with it 150m away from any person and residential area. Which makes it completely useless for many.

The title was a bit misleading as it's just a comparison video and you give many factors of why you might choose one over the other. Still I found this video really helpful. My Mini 2 has been my trusty drone for the last two years and now with these drones on the market, the features that are offered make it clear for me to upgrade. Thank you Jeven for the great review!

I just bought a Mini 4 Pro. The screwdriver isn’t a big deal because the fly more combo comes with a tiny one that fits in the provided carrying case. Very convenient. Not sure if just buying the drone itself comes with a screwdriver but I imagine it would.

Mini's are much more appealing, sub 250g means no license which is key for me. Plus weight in my pack is another thing, my camera gear is heavy enough.

One thing to note if you are in the uk or Europe you dont need a licence to fly the mini 4 as it weighs less than 250g anything above 250g you do need one.

You are wrong ! In the uk and Europe YOU NEED a flayer id and operator id even if the drone is 249 grams this is because the drone has a camera . You don’t need a flayer id and operator id only if the drone is 249 grams or less and no cameras. Check again for Europe is EASA (European union aviation safety agency) and in UK CAA ( civil aviation authority) and make sure you fly your drone legally 😊 . I’m 100 % right I will guarantee you . Thanks for always giving your honest opinion. I do have an important question which I have not seen discussed as what best setting (Brake or By Pass) to use in Obstacle Avoidance Action when you lose connection & the drone is return home automatically . For example, if my RTH height is set to 200ft, then i lose connection behind a 250ft high building, and my setting is Brake in Obstacle Avoidance Action, my assumption is that my drone will just hover at 200ft behind the bldg and the drone will never return back home. If my setting is set to By Pass in Obstacle Avoidance Action instead, will my drone fly around the bldg at 200ft until it sees or makes connection with my RC? Can you please comment on this so I know what setting to use in Obstacle Avoidance Action when I lose connection. Not sure if someone has already tested this but i appreciate your comment on my question. Thanks so much.

A big advantage that I think the Mini has the over the Air 3, and other even bigger drones (I have the mini 3 pro and the Mavic 3 Pro), goes along with it’s size and weight: how much quieter and more discrete the Mini is. I find, especially in more crowded areas, that’s it’s easy to get the Mini up in the air without almost anyone noticing. I find that I am much more likely take and launch the mini over the bigger drones. As the adage goes, the best camera is the one you have with you.

I agree. The mini series are like phantoms vs. those helicopters. And even if it would hit somebody, that 249 g is practically harmless and generates much less noise when flying. That is also the reason why I am not getting the FPV ones. I have the Mavic 2 pro and now never used that heavy, bulky destroyer since I own the lightweight mini 3. Now it is just got better...

Hello, do you think it is advisable to buy the two drones for specific use? For example: I have two businesses, one that is dedicated to recording social events, whether children's parties or weddings, and the other business is Video Marketing for social networks and real estate. The thing I have in mind is that at social events I would use the mini 4 pro for places with little space and the Air 3 for outdoors or spacious places. Or do you think that with the Air 3 it is more than enough for me to deal with both businesses?

So if you are just a basic guy who likes to fly drones at sporting events of my daughter or family events or like fishing/crabbing outings and is using the Mavic pro 2 Zoom which one of these would be the better choice to upgrade to? Don't get me wrong my Mavic Zoom is a tank and has been though some tough times with me and it still looks brand new and I have not any complaints but would like to get into better technology drone for just hobbyist

Living in Wyoming with more wind than most areas what drone would you recommend ? I live at 7000'.. I'll be doing this as recreation mostly but would love to make some extra money once I get a handle on it . I would definitely need something that would track well and avoid obstacles if there are different options for that, as I would like for it to track my boat floating down a river . My end goal would be to make cinematic type fly fishing videos for my family .

THANK YOU for some thoughtful pragmatism in considering drone purchases. I own an MP3 and have been dismayed by the overwhelming lack of cost/benefit analysis of most reviews of the MP4. If nothing else, your review confirms my thinking that it would be much wiser for me to eventually upgrade to an Air 3 or even a Mavic rather than the very limited upgrade in features I would get by purchasing an MP4.

I "upgraded" from Mini 3 Pro to Air 3 (2x size / weight). Other than 3x 70mm the Air 3 is much more stable in high wind o / coast line. However size / weight is a comprise: no difference on 2 hrs hike. But on 10 hrs hike that size / weight is difference between another 2 bottle drink / 1 small meal or another good prime lense not an easy choice.

I have a Mavic (3 classic) and the mini 3 pro. I am looking to get the mini 4 Pro only because it has improved the night shooting, and 99% of my videos are produced in low light. The Mavic is 100 times better drone, for sure. However, it is on a different flight permit category (so it is the Air 3); depending on where you are filming, that makes a huge difference. My mini 3 Pro gets the j ob done with incredible quality even with its limitation for night filming. The mini 4 Pro should be an improvement. The range of the mini 4 pro is also a plus. Mi videos are usually done with a a pilot in one city and the observer on the other side of the harbour to film Halifax from Dartmouth. WIth the extended range I can have a third observer and film literally the entire waterfront from one single point of take off. Wind resistance could be an issue. However the mini 3 pro is pretty tough, it can handle very powerful winds. If I could flight either one at any time without an delays or permit requests, I would take the Air 3 for sure. but the way things are regulated at list in Canada. The mini 3 pro is the perfect aircraft for the job.

Both have one major headache of a problem for Part 107 pilots. Neither is on the FAA RID DOC list and it's impossible to get an independent module on the DOC list to add to one. I mean with the pace the DOC list is updated I wouldn't expect either to be listed as compliant anytime soon, so that is a no go for commercial work.

I think the title should of been “Why might want to buy the Air 3 over the Mini 4”. For sure the Air is over all the better camera system, but it also comes with compromises of weight, size and cost. Also the weight being a big factor with the Air over the 250g. They are both great drones, but I’d say for a lot of people, most will go for the Mini 4. Thanks for the video, I haven’t looked into the Air for quite some time.

Depends on what matters to you. For example I would go for a Mini 4 Pro if it was for Travel because its easier to keep in my backpack with the rest of my gear when I get on a plane. However, if I'm not as worried about size then I would go for the Air3 because the 70mm lens is so useful

Was looking for a new drone as right now i just have an entry level F11 and want something that I can make more professional content with. The Mini 4 seemed like a good deal but in the end i decided to just order the Air 3. I feel like if i went with the Mini 4 I would be missing the speed, battery life, and 70mm camera too much and I'd get buyers remorse. Thankfully I'm licensed and in the US so weight doesnt matter to me. The Air 3 should cover all my bases and I won't feel shortchanged on my first professional drone.

What I have found with the Air 3 since I got it is I'm able to get so many more shots. Not just because of the battery life but because the speed of it allows you to get setup for a shot and then get to the next shot so much faster. The 70mm camera also plays into to this allowing me to get a distance shot and a close up without having to majorly reposition the drone. Very happy with it.

Hey Pal, Just curious if you experince the same issue and have a fix. When I land my drone, I flip it upside down to kill switch it. The 4 Pro says it crashed and check propellers every time i do this. Do you know how to disable to turn this feature off?

You said that the Air 3 was faster than the Mini 4 Pro in ascend and descend. You must have had the Mini on Cine. At normal, they both fly the same speed up and down (11 mph). This was a performance feature that I really liked about the Mini 4 Pro.

Ascend and descend is twice as fast on the Air 3. 5m/s for the mini 4, 10 m/s on Air 3. Straight from the DJI website.

it's pretty much double in speed. Makes a difference to get some shots. Specifically going over mountain tops/ranges in a vertical climb with the gimbal tilting up.

@@freshandsaltyjohnny I watched the vertical speed of the Mini 4 Pro more closely. It fluctuates slightly, but peaks out at 11.2 mph or 5.01 m/s (half the speed of the Air 3). Although watching a drone dive that fast would be amazing to watch, it's not enough to spend that much when I don't gain anything else (I'm not a photographer - only use the gimbal to navigate (recreational licensed only)) I searched a very long time for a Skydio like drone and the Mini 4 Pro is all that and more.

I'm hoping you can help. Where can I find user manuals for DJI accessories. Their website is terrible. Most other manufacturers have a page with all user manuals for all items they sell, DJI don't. They give no information on the charging hub (can batteries be left in them, do they discharge whilst in the hub, can the hub and drone be linked to the one charger so the drone is charged via the charging hub). Absolutely nothing and I'm guessing if I do something wrong and damage a battery it will be my fault even though they don't supply any accurate, comprehensive manuals with the drone when you buy it.

Good video, very reflective analysis of the advantages of the Air 3. The title, however, is somewhat misleading and obviously owed to headline grabbing, which is at odds with the balance of the content.

If I said Air 3 vs Mini 4 Pro then most viewers wouldn't click it because there is a ton of creators doing that title. I took a different approach and packaged it differently so that it sets this video apart. If it was a garbage video then the title is not justified but I think this is a solid video and gives you reasons why you shouldn't get the Mini 4 over the Air 3.

In the UK the Air 3 is significantly more expensive and heavier than the Mini 4 pro. The Air 3 is above the 250g limit which means in many countries there are severe restrictions on its use.

As a UK citizen this is kind of seen much differently to how most would. The second our drones hit 250g using it becomes much more difficult. There are a tonne more places that you aren't allowed to fly it and obviously there's the extra license you need to get. My friend had an Air 2 but ended up selling it and buying the Mini 3 Pro way back when because all we need for that is a half an hour test online and we can pretty much do whatever we want within reason as long as it presents no danger to other people. On top of this, yes the Air 3 has far greater specs but that is how technology tends to scale with price, DJI know the market the Air series appeals to and therefore the price range they can work with and what they'll be able to offer. And the fact remains that it should be that much better for the extra £300 you intend to spend on it. Not to mention that it is much easier for your average person to get £650 all together in one go for a drone purchase than £950. Everything you said was completely right but dependent on where you live it completely changes the outlook.

Thanks for getting deep into details, but let’s be honest, it is just different drones for different tasks. So i would say you need both to feel comfortable in any case😂 the best point in the video is go with mini for traveling and with air for more interesting and professional picture👍

For me personally, as a former owner of a Mavic 3, the biggest problem was the noise, then I saw some guy launch a Mini 3 Pro and it was so quiet that I seriously thought about buying a Mini, has anyone compared the noise of Air 3 and Mini3?

Another great video Jeven! Love the shots of your house and Looks like it's in Arizona if I remember correctly. Just bought the Air 3 to replace my Air2s but I'm keeping the Mini 3 Pro and not going to upgrade that one. Being that I'm in Mesa, AZ, I'm glad to see the temps finally coming down.

personally for me i think the mini 3 pro and Mavic 3 pro is the perfect combination . I wouldn't bother with the mini 4 pro or the air 3 . Both of them are just not worth upgrading to ....

If you're debating?..as a consumer..just save $500 plus more (US dollars) thats basically the price difference when selecting the "fly more combos"? and price in general and get the Air 3..haha only thing thats a "cool" feature that the Air 3 doesn't have and is a major selling point for the MINI 4 Pro is the new Active track 360 with the inner and outer ring option..and full 4K vertical shooting..but the Air 3 has only 2K vertical shooting..but who can really tell the difference when viewing? with peoples phones, tablets..etc....haha so in my opinion for $500 more.. I would lean towards the Air 3 as a photographers perspective because I definitely like the dual camera option with the 3x..and see myself using that..and yes the Mavic 3 Pro has a 7x..but from what consumers have mentioned that is crap and is more of a "gimmick" bc the shots from it is bad..so the good balance is the 3X..wouldn't be surprised if DJI removes it in the Mavic 4 or just improve it better..haha

DJI air 3 is like £1,350 min. whilst the DJI 4 PRO is £650-850. its more affordable and can be flown in more places due to it being under the weight limit. (ik lots have people have said this but it really is like comparing a desktop computer to a laptop, more efficient but less mobile.

The Air 3 and Mini 4 pro both have the same 24 mm stacked sensor/camera. If money is no object I recommend the Mavic 3 Pro ( the best consumer drone on the market today) along with the mini 4 Pro (The best mini drone on the market today) or the Mini 3 pro which is an excellent drone. This is all you need to cover all your bases.

I'm a bit POd with DJI atm because there's no reason why the M3 Pro can't have waypoints. I thought it did when I made the purchase (my own fault). I think I'll probably opt for the Air 3 instead after watching this. Thanks.

I still have the DJI Mini 2 and I don't see any significant differences on picture or video quality. The only thing that really call mu attention is the adicional flight time, that been said if I find a battery for the Mini 2 that can give me 40+ minutes of flight that would be great.

I will never buy any brand that I am not obliged to register, but the application does not allow me to do so just because someone considered the area to be subject to requesting permission to fly, even if it is indoors.... that is unthinkable...

Okay Jeven, and price vs image quality. 430€ more on the air 3 don't convence me. Image quality size weight is the big deal for the mini 4 pro . Mini 4 pro for traveling, for the size weight quality of the image and price . Series Air maybe when Air 3s or Air 4 comes to the market with a principal sensor of 1 inch. Air 3 it's more the same, don't compensates the estra money.

The comparision completely makes sense. Both are compact drones. For a couple of hundred dollars more you have a much better drone. Originaldobo said the same in his recent drone brews show. Mini 4 pro is overhyped.
