This is a common practice in the Philippines. There are 2 types of clothes depending on usage. Clothes you wear inside the home are called 'pambahay'. Pambahay are typically very comfortable, like what Westerners call loungewear. Clothes for going out or work are 'pang alis'. They're usually maintained better (ironed, dry cleaned, etc).

I have a friend who brought bedbugs home!! She was told by the professional exterminator that it is possible she could have brought them in from riding in a taxi, Uber or Lyft!! How many people ride in these vehicles all day??? You have no idea how clean anyone is or where they have been. By the way..at the very least you should wash your hands when you get home. You've touched the grocery carts, shopping baskets, door handles, card readers, ATMs, poles in subways and trains and shook hands with others. I'm seriously not a germophobe...I just use my head and try to keep my hands clean.

Yes those suckers will hitch a ride on you!! I took a temporary job straight out of high school sharing the same desk with the person who worked in the morning, the second job I ever had and I got bitten thinking the office had a mosquito! Then I started to get bit at home and I actually saw the bed bug on my desk and on my mattress. I cleaned my whole room and thank God I avoided an infestation.

I've always been a hand washer and so I am 100% with Jenna on this topic. I wash my hand every single time I walk into my home, no matter what I have been doing or what I've touched. I also have indoor & outdoor clothes, also a "habit" that I've been exercising for the last 20+ years. What have we learned from going through the pandemic? My god, many people were sanitizing EVERY. SINGLE. THING. So why go back to old habits when you know how easily and quickly germs spread?? Anyway, good luck out there everyone and do your best 😄

My mom always used to clean the bathroom after we had guests, which was often. People used to visit a lot back in the 70s and 80s. Usually, it entailed spraying copious amounts of Lysol to the toilet seat, faucet, etc. Depending on who it was (someone she deemed especially icky or ill of health), she'd add a splash of bleach to the soapy water when washing the cups and utensils used. But how do you clean your couch? The only thing I can think of is to spray it liberally with isopropyl alcohol and allow to dry.

I grew up in poverty we played in the city dump. We were exposed to so many germs because both my parents were alcoholics. They let us go everywhere unsupervised we went to other towns on our bicycles for the day. No one said a thing did we have a great time, of course did we bring home germs more than we know we probably will glow in the dark someday for the things we did And the germs we brought home!! But let me tell you something before you judge we were exposed to everything and I’ve had the flu one time in my life once back in 94 I was 34 years old .. have all my vaccines from childhood. I have had the chickenpox, but so did all three of my brothers and sisters at the same time.. I don’t have the flu every year I don’t get cold every year. I have no allergies to speak of once in a while in the spring I will get hit with hayfever because of all the blooming flowers but not every year I have three pets two dogs, one cat I’m not allergic to any of them. I have no food allergies that I know of I’m 63 and I’m fairly healthy being exposed to germs is not a bad thing especially when you’re young at least for me it hasn’t done horrible things and yes I do wash my hands when I come in but no I’m not worried about it to as long as you take the basic precautions when you come home

I always take a 2nd shower or bath when I get home from my job or from wherever I leave from. I always carry travel size hand sanitizer & cleansing wipes to clean my hands whenever I touch anything in public settings. I take multiple showers & baths & I change my clothing quite often when I have to run multiple errands in my life. I always set out multiple outfits ahead of time before I run my errands. I take off everything, let my professional work clothing and casual / everyday clothing air dry on hangers after I arrive back home. I toss anything I've worn in a day in the "dirty clothes" laundry, even if I don't wear it very long. My purses & wallets are always air dried as well. I wipe down my items in my purse with cleansing wipes including my phone & house keys. My socks, face masks & all undergarments are all washed right after I get home. I always wash my hands when I get home with antibacterial hand soap. I've been doing this personal routine for many, many years long before the pandemic.

"Public ick" aside, my home clothes are just more comfortable so if I am not walking right back out, I am for sure changing into home clothes. I absolutely wash my hands every single time I walk in the door, regardless of where I've been, though. It's just a natural part of the routine--I set my purse and keys down, take my shoes off, hang my coat up, and step into the bathroom to wash my hands. Doctors offices, movie theaters and even someone brushing past you in the store. If they have an infestation in their home the bedbugs can be on their clothing. Also, never throw your outside clothes on your furniture, bed, etc. change in bathroom and put in hamper. Oh and hospitals are notorious for bedbugs. So if you end up in the ER or stayed in hospital, as soon as you get home remove those clothes!! Before the pandemic, i never touch public surfaces with my bare hands. Always paper towels in my pockets. I put my coat over my plane seat, so my hair don't touch the headrest. I was my travel clothes as soon as I returned home in hot water

I like to schedule my return flight im the AM so when I get home I immediately unload my suitcase and rhe outfit I'm wearing into the washing machine, then I take a shower while the clothes are washing, and transfer them into the dryer once I'm done 😊

I’m with Jenna. As soon as I get home I change my clothes-this is mainly due for comfort. I used to take the bus to work and sitting on a bus seat, where others sat, absolutely I would change my clothes. There are many dirty and smelly people who ride the bus. I’ve witnessed this every time I’m on a bus. Subways are also disgusting. I try to not even touch anything on there and I wash my hands immediately after getting off. There are tons of germs on the subway poles. Think about how many people have touched them. I simply do not want to catch a cold, flu, or Covid so it completely makes sense to wash your hands after being in public places. Hoda-wash your hands!! If not for yourself, then for the people in your circle so they won’t get sick. I’m not a germ phobic but my hands need to be clean at all times.

Not germa phobes…it is basic hygiene now. People are not as naive as we used to be. Think how much you are exposed to just from a public bathroom…I wash my hands when I get home and shower before bed every night.

*lest not forget, those who throw out their garbage from a shared space.* I have to open the compact room, which is where the recycling bins are as well! Wash my hands afterwards.

I wash my hands every single time I come in to my house! Even if it’s just to get the mail it’s just automatic. I wash my hands a lot.

I take off my shoes, wash my hands and change my clothes. Wash my hands again. Too much stuff out there that I don’t want to bring into my home.

I wash my hands when I go to the bathroom or doing a dirty project. I don’t care otherwise and I don’t change my clothes, until I’ve worked out and am sweaty. I change when I get home from church. I’m not on enough planes for it to matter. When the flight ends, I go to the bathroom and wash my hands. End of story. I’m not dead or sick, much. No one in my home or life is worse for the ware.
