When I was in Elementary, 4th grade. I had a PSP for one year but someone stole it and it was never returned. Since then, I've been playing PSP games in PPSSPP. But because I've miss the feel of Physical PSP, I've been wanting to buy a new one.

I went down the route of buying a used Japanese Vita SD2Vita and 256Gb and 8Gb totaling around $200USD. I do not regret it as I have 400 NES 730 SNES some Atari 60 Vita 8 PS1 and 30 PSP games. The machine works well and I got a 10/10 condition unit. Totally worth it. I do have to say even though it’s fully molded and can over clock to run games better FPS. Some games like GoW and Killzone sometimes see below the 30FPS mark. I haven’t come across many other except for a few lags here and there but otherwise this console is so awesome everything is asking me to buy it because if the library. Btw the card still has 110GB free space left. Buy it. Just make sure and get you the OEM memory as well if you get the 1000 OLED model. I did this because The only time I have to “game” is any free time I have in between day to day activities (adulting smh). Here a a pro no one thinks about. Since I’ve had this I have a longer lasting battery on my phone! Also it’s way better gaming on a consol made for gaming over a phone. And there s a tone of games I never got to play. Give it a shot. I have one thing to say about the Vita Though. The PSP is a very old system now, almost 20 or more years, but you can still grab your old PSP and play it. PS Vita has a hardware failure, and I don't know about the 2000 models, but I know it exists on the 1000 and the PS TV, which is: The console will sometimes just decide to crash with a CPU error. That's right. IT never happend to me with original games, but it happened a LOT with games while jailbroken the console, and a friend of mine who never jailbreak his Vita 1000 also said that his was having the GPU crash even with original games. So yeah: The PSP is way more reliable. But the Vita can do more, AND it can emulate a PSP if you jaibreak it, but I do think the PSP looks better, it works better in the hands and it's lighter.

The storage cards being expensive as well as the console isn’t a issue for me because there’s a store called cex that sell used ones very cheap

I have all the devices and I can confirm its very easy to mod and transfer games and roms to the psp go as it has built in memory It's my favorite handheld as its very pocketable and has a decent battery life and the display quality is better than the psp and ofcourse worse than the vita but put its at a sweet spot where you pay little more and get more Also once you mod the psvita you can use an sd2vita card and basically use any micro sd card which makes it amazing

Completely irrelevant, but the first Playstation handheld was the Pocketstation, which also doubled as a memory card for the ps1

Grab one now while prices are cheap and stock is available. Games are currently fairly cheap in most places and PSP's are still serviceable.

I am an over the road truck driver so i like to watch a movie at night on my big tv in truck. Thats why i choose psp 3000 over the vita. Simply because of the cheap umd movies. With 1500 movies on umd i don't think i will run out of choices anytime soon. I'm also a casual gamer so the psp 3000 is great for me.

In 2021, both the psp and vita are expensive and discontinued(neither will be receiving new games). To answer your question, which should u get? The vita is the obvious choice if homebrew is your intention. Since a homebrew vita has a built in psp with upgraded visuals. U should only choose the psp go over the psp 3000 if u have a ps3. Thus u will be able play in both table top mode and console mode; once u pair the psp go with a ps3 controller. Lastly get the psp 3000 over the psp go if u only want a handheld experience on a slightly larger screen. To conclude only get the psp 3000 or psp go over the vita if u r absolutely 100% sure that there isn't a single vita game that u can't live without.

I have a psp vita 2000 model aka slim it works very well for emulation i highly recommend it if you want psp games and PSX even older consoles !

I carry my psp go with me everywhere man. Its the only psp model that supports bluetooth so i can connect my earbuds and the battery feels like it lasts longer than my psp 2000

I might dig out my old PSP 3000 to emulate some older consoles. One thing I didn't like about the PSP is the lack of ergonomics. Horribly uncomfortable.

some psp games (like gta lcs and vcs) allow you to apply patch to support 2nd analog stick this would make ps vita more comfortable to play

biggest issue with psp / vita is that it's not ergonomically designed. Can only play an hour before hand start to cramp.

I'd say the PSP 2000 deserves to be lumped in with the 3000, not the 1000, as the 2000 and 3000 had various pros and cons that the other didn't have.

Sadly the PSP store is closed so getting games for the go has to be all hacking. I got the vita since I never own a vita but I had a PSP 1000 and a PSP 2000 in the past which sadly one got stolen and the other I sold it since I have no time to use it. I got two vitas from Japan (the slim and the OLED) and Im glad some PSP games are in the Vita store and in the PS3 store to buy.

I think the psp 2000 is the best one Since it can Emulate ps1 and its really powerfull considering it has about the same power as the 2ds and nintendo switch, it can play minecraft (homebrew only cuz it cant emulate the vita i think but if it can emulate the wii u or maybe 3ds with subscription then it can be possible to play Minecraft Online Multiplayer) and plenty of other games, it can emulate stuff like: Nes, Snes, N64, Gamecube, Gb, Gbc, Gba, PS1, Maybe PS2 (If you mod it in some way or insert a sd card with 1GB of swap and put it in the system folder or smth like that), Atari consoles, sega genesis and others, Gbl, Gbp and etc. While also being cheap and portable, i give it a 10/10 I Would Rate The PS vita 10/10 but since the Memory Card is to Expensive i would rate it a 4/10 and its all because how the Memory Cards are Expensive, i dont have much of Time cuz I have to Investigate on How to play Minecraft Online On PSP (Maybe without purchase or with purchase) So GoodBye.

i have a vita and a psp and honestly for me the psp is better , the vita screen is just too high res for the psp games and they look worse on it .. its like playing a ds game on a 3ds. The psp can emulate ps1 games with psx eboot as well. And for the vita main games i can't even thing of one game worth playing
