The most dangerous issue with wire mesh wheels is that if more than one mouse is running on them, a mouse can get stuck between the wheel and the frame, causing back injuries. I had a constant stream of partially paralyzed mice for a while until I clued in to what was happening, when I witnessed a mouse get stuck. Now that I use solid wheels, I have not had a single semi paralyzed mouse. Bumble foot and caught feet are less of an issue with wire wheels for mice than for hamsters, so if you have a single mouse who is not obsessive about wheels, they can still be OK just not for multiple mice. Best though to get solid wheels to begin with to avoid any issues. The only danger with solid wheels is if you do not clean them enough, mice can get skin issues when they scratch at themselves with dirty feet. Make sure you keep them clean.

Today I went to my dads friends house and they have a pet cockatiel and I felt so bad for it. The bottom of the cage was covered in poop and food the bird threw out of her food bowl. She only had one toy and she couldn’t even reach it, I just wanted to take it home, clean her cage and buy her lots of nice and fun toys for her to play with. I also saw she only had sunflower seeds which I’m pretty sure is fatty for birds and it was the only food in her cage :( she is such a pretty bird and I want to give her a better home and cage so badly

Your hair looks great, even better than cornflake’s!. If anyone is thinking of getting mice 🐭 please be prepared for them to pass away in a few years, as they can be very vulnerable to mammary gland tumours, which, if they occur in old age, can’t really be treated. In terms of vegetables, kale is often a favourite among mice, and pretty good for them as well, as long as it is not fed in massive quantities.

This was quite a comprehensive video! I have 4 females and 1 intact male (living separately) and my male mouse is definitely much stinkier! The girls tend to pee in just one spot but my male pees everywhere so I have to spot clean much more! Also, if you’re considering getting mice, make sure you a vet who can see them as many vets won’t! They can also be much more expensive to see as they’re considered an exotic pet :)

I love mice. It is a shame that more seniors don't realize the joys of mouse companionship. Seniors often have problems sleeping at night and mice can really help make that a less-stressful situation. My mice come alive around 7pm so I have them to watch and interact with for a few hours before bedtime. Then, when I wake up in the middle of the night, which is all too often, I relax and watch my mice running around their cages. I try to change things up regularly, in their cages, so that they always have new things to explore. Virtually any box or tube, that is normally discarded, can become an object of interest and enjoyment for mice. Before I throw things in the trash, or recycle bin, I think about whether it can be used in the mice cages for enrichment. When it gets dirty I simply discard it and replace it with a new object. That saves a lot of money on toys. I also crochet toys, nets, foraging toys, ladders, etc., for my mice out of sisal twine when I find myself awake at night. It is a really inexpensive way to make toys for them.

I 100% recommend getting a mouse from a rescue or animal shelter. At shelters and rescues they tend to know a lot about mouse care so they take good care of them and work with them to be calm. My last mouse, Buttons was from the SPCA and he was the sweetest little guy. When I first got him he was super skittish. over the next couple months, he came out of his shell so much. Unfortunately he died suddenly at only 10 months old (I think it was a heart attack). But he was absolutely delightful to be around. He would sit on my shoulder and we would go for walks, and he would run around my bed. I taught him tricks, too. It was cool because he actually loved me and craved my attention. he would climb up my arm every time I was reaching in his cage. Male mice are great pets. I prefer them over females companion wise. It varies mouse to mouse but I think female mice are more fun to watch and observe, but males and more fun to play with and spend time with. my room smelled bad when I first got him, but after about a month he stopped scent marking as much and the scent was mild.

You can’t really put two male mice together. And you’d have to neuter the male if you want him with a female

Hey soda pet ! My mom and I have a cockatiel and I feel like she is not happy at all :\ She live in a kinda big cage and she go out and fly around the house, she is really friendly but she don't like when we touch her back or just when we try to pet her somewhere else than her head. She do not "sing" like other bird do (I think only male sing but idk). Since she live alone with us and sometimes stay alone (1~3 days) I don't know if she is really happy or if we're doing something wrong...

Most birds don't like it when you touch them anywhere that isnt their head, you're only really supposed to touch their head as touching them anywhere else can make them hormonal, girls don't sing they just chirp. If you think shes unhappy, you could try slowly introducing a friend for her? Birds don't like being alone for long periods of time, so having a friend might help her

hey i need some help, i want to get mice in the future because i have a frog currently and my parents won’t allow more than 1 pet in the house etc. but i have 2 for sure chain pet stores and one that may be local but is definitely all across my state like at least 3 locations and i have no mouse breeders near me so i obviously don’t want to support breeding mills but i don’t have an option so if i could please get some help that would be great thank you in advance!

your mice probably dont smell because you keep em clean my rats start to smell if i dont clean their cage for a few days, but overall, rats(which are known to smell) dont smell, either. keep your rodents homes clean, friends.
