- TSA PreCheck is an expedited airport security program offered by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). It’s currently available at 200+ airports and 80+ airlines.

- How much is CLEAR? $189 for 1 year (less with United Airlines or Delta Airlines account). You can add kids under 18 for $0 and add adults 18+ = $60 ea.
- CLEAR Benefits: Helps you get through U.S. (airport) security faster & more conveniently. In short, it speeds up the document / ID verification process by using biometrics and your government-issued ID on file. You then proceed to the front of the standard security line or TSA PreCheck line.

I have TSA Pre-Check (thanks to the Army). No waiting in those long airport lines. I can literally show up 1 hour before my flight, don’t take off my shoes, laptop, belt, jacket, etc…

Get the Amex Platinum card for free and get yourself Clear. It’s another game changer when traveling. I got clear and global entry. Can’t get the the lounges fast enough 👌🏽

You better get every Amex card you can. I have the schwab, MS, and vanilla platinum card. I also the gold card, Hilton aspire, delta reserve, bonvoy brilliant, bbp. My wife has all the same cards also. Use that no annual fee to your advantage.

I just received global entry with my wife. It was super easy. We had to change dates of our interview cause we both got covid. I recommend changing the interview instead of canceling. Changing the date is free, while canceling you will forfeit your money, and you can change the date as many times as you want

Great video Mark! I just received Global Entry. The process is really very easy. I had heard appointments were backed up by six months during the pandemic, but I got an appointment within 2 weeks of applying. They must be caught up now.

Global Entry is a must when traveling internationally! It saves me at least 1-2 hours waiting in line at customs! CLEAR is cool too, but from my experience doesn't save much time as compared to TSA/Precheck. Great guide Mark!

Not my experience lately at DTW. Regular lines moved faster than global entry and with the same hassles as well. Made no difference after battling it out with customs to get an appointment.

Global Entry wait times for appointments should be advised prior to people signing up for it because it major cities, you are not getting an appointment for 8 - 12 months. The closer appointments are at smaller airports or port of entry where you must travel. Fortunately, you can do your interview on arrival from an international destination in select cities. That too also took over 1 1/2 in line for that interview because there was one 2 CBP officers doing interviews.

I have all three, clear + tsa precheck= the chosen few at the airport lol. Leaving home I can get the airport 30 mins before my flight and still make the lounge to use the bathroom and grab a drink

Just got approved for global entry. Applied -Feb 28, 2023.Conditionally Approved March 1, 2023. Paid $29 for Appointment Scanner to find an interview date. My airport IAD is backlogged over 1year+. Got a March 3, 2023 INTERVIEW appointment using Appointment Scanner. So total 4 day’s journey 😅😅😅

Hey Mark, I'm a UK citizen living in the US (non-LPR) and I was able to enroll in CLEAR. The rep at the airport said all I needed was my US driver's license.

The green card now covers the full Clear fee and the Hilton Aspire does as well! I wonder if the benefits of clear will start to dilute the way TSA precheck has with more people using it.

You left out my option, Nexus. I live in Michigan and travel to Canada a few times a year. Anyone who lives near the border should look into it instead of Global Entry.

This was actually super helpful Mark! Thanks for sharing. Global entry is something I need to get in the next year or so, but it would be nice to have a credit card to cover the cost! However, since I'm gardening my 5/24 status, I would have to go with a business card to do so and I haven't found one of those that has caught my eye yet for the annual fee they come with. We'll see though!!

While only in a small number of airports, if you have Reserve by Clear, that is a great way to shave down on time and does not cost anything. Skipped the entire security line at MCO during spring break

If you plan to travel internationally even once in the next 5 years get global entry. You won’t make any connection you have coming back without it. And precheck comes along for the ride anyway with it.

Great video Mark! I started the GE process but never finished. Wish I would have bc I traveled four times internationally this year! My main hub is ATL and customs is crazy! I do like the fact that ATL has lines for TSA, Clear, TSA precheck and clear/TSA PC. No one is EVER in the TSA/clear line. Will f/u on my GE app. Thanks again!

Using Global Entry card in the SENTRI or NEXUS lanes. Global Entry members, who wish to drive their vehicle in the SENTRI lanes, must register their vehicle with CBP

Great video man. I’ve had TSA pre-for a long time now, but ended up getting global entry a couple months back. I was on a long waiting list for my in person appointment, but ended up getting it when I was returning from a production in Bermuda, and was able to do the beyond easy/fast interview at the customs counter when I was returning and got the card in the mail a couple weeks later. I’m about to sign us up for Clear as well (using my AMEX platinum benefit) since our primary airports are JFK and LaGuardia, which both can have a long TSA pre-check lines. As well as, we’re on a long waiting list for my wife to get global entry and TSA pre-check so having Clear will help her out big time while she waits.

It's definitely been worthwhile to have GE and the TSA Pre + CLEAR stack. If your work takes you to different locations frequently, efficiency is a great benefit 💯

Something to note. As documented by DoC not too long ago, if you are applying to TSA Pre for the first time, you will be making the payment at the in person interview - not when you submit the application. This could be an issue if you are using someone else's credit and are not an authorized user on their card.

Great point, Francis! I experienced that when sharing one of my cards w/ G.E. credit to cover the fee for someone else. The agents denied it due to the name on the card not matching the person's name.

a quick correction because people misunderstand what tsa is saying. they say that a person under 13 *MAY* not *WILL* use the tsa line. I have seen with my own eyes TSA agents turn under 12s away who didnt have pre check on their boarding pass.

I was able to sign up for CLEAR without being a US citizen or Permanent Resident. I was in the US on a tourist visa.

Why are honorably discharged veterans required to pay, some of us served 21 years and had Secret Clearances! Just another way for the government, to increase revenue! Besides, when was the last time they caught a Bad Guy at the airport! Even TSA undercover personnel were able to smuggle items through TSA security!

All these videos never tell you the real history how they were created. TSA precheck and Global Entry were given originally to military personnel. They just extended that to normal people as well. Clear is a private for-profit company not owned by the government.

@@MarkReese I think it's important to know what you're getting in to. Precheck and Global Entry are government-run institutions and are trustworthy. Clear is an LLC that don't have any accountability to disclose what they're doing with your data. They could be passing that on to bad actors or employing foreign nationals to handle sensitive biometric data. They're a for-profit company that can't be trusted the way you can trust the DHS.

Don't know if you know the answer to this but if you use your United or Delta acct to bring the Clear price down on $119, add a family member for $60. Would the Amex platinum cover that $189 total with it's clear credit?

Hold on, let me get this straight?I am paying Tsa precheck and get approved by the US database so that I don't need to remove my shoes, ok, nice BUT what garantee do we have that someone else who is also a low-risk traveler and who got approved aswell does't show up with an explosive or a freaky weapon in his shoes?Since he doesn't need to remove his shoes??What the hell?

TSA PreCheck is a much simpler application / approval process. So, for those who don't have any international travel plans, it can be easier to get.

Hi Mark, thank you for your helpful videos as always! I had a quick question about Global Entry. I recently had my interview when returning back to the states and an officer informed me that I would receive an email and card in the mail soon, but have never received any notification or card in the past three weeks. My status in my account still says conditionally approved, but no full approval yet which I find odd. Do you happen to have any suggestions/ideas on what I should do at this point? Thank you so much for your help, I really appreciate it!

With the long wait times (over one year out!) for global entry interviews in San Francisco, do you know when the 5 year membership for global entry starts? Is it after you are conditionally approved or is it after you complete the interview and get approved?

Not sure. It should start on the day of full approval. It then expires on your birthday on the 5th year.

Mark you're on point with your videos. Just what I was wondering. And whether i should clear in addition to global entry. Another video topic I would like to see but might be difficult to do is about VIP airport greeters or airport concierge services. I've done one for my Jamaica trip (club Mobay or club Kingston for Kingston airport7) to montego Bay. And was more than worth it.

Basically you only need Global Entry (since it comes with TSA pre check) & clear is what I’m getting? Also, if you create a United account and bring the cost down to $119 for Clear and buy Global Entry for $100 would AMEX Plat still cover $189 & you only come out of pocket the other $30?

Hey YooReeek - what do you mean by coming out of pocket for the other $30? The Amex Platinum Card offers up to a $189 credit for CLEAR; that would cover the cost of a single membership entirely. If you pay the full $189 or the lower $119 via United, you'll get a statement credit for either amount. The Amex Platinum Card also covers the $100 application cost for Global Entry. There should be a $0 out of pocket cost 👍

Great video Mark, really beneficial. Quick question tho, for capital one venture x cc, do they also reimburse the money for authorized users? Say I sign-up for global entry and I get reimbursed and my wife do too, then does she get the money back ad well from CO? (She's an authorized user on my account)

Hi Safi - no. Either the primary cardholder can use the TSA Pre / Global Entry credit or an AU can use it, but it's just 1 total credit per overall account. In other words, AUs do not get their own credit.

Clear profits off of adding confusion and classism to mandatory government processes at no benefit to the system. If everyone had Clear, no one would benefit from the line-hopping service they're selling. Furthermore they sell your biometrics to the highest bidder. Their cancelation policies are the least sketchy part of this company. Please consider Global Entry or TSA precheck instead.

Given the choice I would just get Global Entry, the only downside is it can take time because its hard getting an interview appointment. So I ended up just getting TSA precheck, and when it nears time to renew I will get Global Entry. Yes Clear is nice that you can skip to the front of the line, but personally I don't like cutting in front of people and the TSA precheck line is pretty quick anyway.
