What if there are no castings in my area? In my case, there are no castings. Even in the capital city (vienna) are no castings...
@TheActorsAcademy
@TheActorsAcademy 5 жыл бұрын
Well at best you’d want an agent to send you out for casting. In some circumstances you can simple do just video submissions, but it just depends. Don’t plan to move out though, until you know you’d be ready. Keep working on your acting while you’re in the waiting phase. You wouldn’t enter a nascar race with a good vehicle, so better yourself/craft before you enter this race of acting

@@chrismilar8124 Honestly I would look up videos like "6 things you need to know before moving to Los Angeles" and "MOVING TO LA | Cost of Living, Getting a Job, & More!" videos like that. That being said, I can also attempt to tackle your question. I don't understand what this is supposed to mean. If you're asking if $8000 a month is enough to live in LA I would say yes. As long as your job is willing to transfer you so you keep that income and you stick with the "make 3x your rent" rule (so don't rent a place for more than $2500/month). Look at places out there, get an idea of what the price ranges are for what you're willing to live in. There are tons of free apps to help you look for a place to live, I use seven apps because someone might post an availability on Zillow but not HotPads so it just expands your options. Are you willing to give up your stuff, furniture, knickknacks, clothes, even, if you have an abundance of those, so that you can live in a shitty studio for a minimum of $1200? Or do you want to rent a house? Do you make enough for what you want with your current job? Can and will your current job transfer you to LA so you continue to work for the company? What will that mean for your income? Would you make less? More? You'd have to talk to your company about all that. From there you can sign up for services such as Imperfect Foods which will give you imperfect looking yet completely still edible foods for cheap. I just used an app called GasBuddy to find out that LA's gas prices, right now 15 June 2021, range from $3.79 at the cheapest station (Costco) to $4.15 at the most expensive station (Shell). How often will you need gas for your car? Is it a gas guzzler? To be extra, find out where your job would take you if you move and find out where most of the casting locations are and try to locate yourself in the middle of them to maximize your gas mileage. And again, can you afford to live in that area? Find ways to skimp on money until you're used to how much everything costs and from there you can adjust your financials. But, in general, $8000 a month should be enough, especially if you're smart about it.

Luckily I already live in NY, so it doesnt matter to me...especially now in 2020. 10/20 years ago, everybody felt like they needed to go to LA/Hollywood to be a big actor or actress...but not too much anymore. They have big productions in different places now. So that's good.

How about foreigners? I know It is kinda gambling. However It's so hard to find auditions as an asian in asia. I'm thinking to go to LA to get auditions for film whlie I'm taking short term acting class.
@TheActorsAcademy
@TheActorsAcademy 5 жыл бұрын
This applies to many people no matter the country. Most countries have hot spots for where the film/television/theater work takes place. Of course, not everyone of them do, but in most big developed countries you can find what you're looking for (in terms of potential film/theater work). Now it is harder if you are not close to any of these devloped cities, but depending on circumstances, it may be better to commute to your closest city rather leaving to a completely new country. Now, for you, I'd do my research of your local area first. Most people don't dig in deep enough to find what they're looking for. Before you decide to move to a completely new country, do your research first of what's around you. Now I don't know what you mean by short-term acting classes? What are your plans after the short-term? Remember this, you should really try planning 5 years/10 years down the line. You need to come into this industry prepared. You can't be allufe about what you want to achieve. I tell this to almost everyone. No matter how you look at it, 4 years is going to come by in your life no matter what. Now if you drop everything to pursue acting, you do run the risk of having 4 years (or more) pass by with nothing to show for it. This is why you really need a plan for the long run and know how you are going to survive in LA if you're not making any money or very little of it. There's nothing glorious about being the struggling actor. It much better to come out here with a better second purpose. What I mean by that is you have another plan running at the same time you are trying to pursue acting. So maybe while you are pursuing acting in LA you are also attending college out here as well and earning a degree in whatever else may be your second life choice. You could even get a degree in acting if you wanted, but at least with a degree you can use it to help make you money. Like I said, there is no glory in being the struggling actor. You don't want to come home and worry that you're not going to be able to put food on the table. Many actors have to go through this struggle and you want to avoid it at all costs. So if you followed that example i previously gave, in 4 years (even if you didn't book ANYTHING) you'd have something to show for yourself and you could make the choice whether or not you'd like to pursue acting after that or not. Now if you book something substantial in those 4 years great! But this business is like walking into Las Vegas. Some people win big, some people break even, and some lose it all. Prepare man, prepare. Best of Luck *The Actors Academy*

Hello! Hopefully you get the chance to read my comment. I went on your “About Me” to try to find an email address to personally send you a message but couldn’t find anything. Long story short I made a self tape demo reel and based off your experience I just wanted to know your opinion on it since constructive criticism is key to becoming better at acting.(plus I watch your videos and like the content you display) I’ve sent my demo reel out to several agencies today, I just don’t know if it’s up to standards. Is there anyway I can get your email and send it to you there? (That’s if you want too haha) Hope to hear from you soon~~

If you really want it, work at it as hard as you can. Treat it like a profession. Still be reasonable and take care of yourself. Which means, don’t move out to LA with little to no support for yourself. Keep your health strong and keep working to better your craft. If you really want it, you should have markers for yourself to work towards, in order to be on track with your work. If you really want to do everything you can look into my 10 Hour Acting Masterclass or training in your area etc.

Firstly, you should want to do better every time, it keeps you motivated to keep getting better. But this mindset should only be for yourself personally. This way of thinking can turn on you, if you base your happiness on doing well or by how others praise your work. You will have moments when your work is good, great, and bad it happens. Our aim is to always be great, why not? But do not let it define your happiness or the passion you have for acting today will be gone tomorrow sooner than you realize. Not many people take this to heart, but I’ll mention it again anyways. Now in terms of how can you feel less tired. It all depends on the role your playing. If your running around for the whole play and the directors making you shout for the whole thing, it’s inevitable that you may be tired towards the end. In that situation, the best you can do is to take care of yourself beforehand. Get plenty of rest, eat healthy, perhaps warming up a bit. You’ll still get tired, but it’ll be a tired that you can manage. If you’re doing a scene and all you have to do is sit there and listen, you shouldn’t be getting tired physically. Potentially emotionally, depending on how you approach your acting (if you don’t want it to be emotionally, than you’d have to change your acting approach. That comes down to your choice though.), but physically you should not be getting tired in that moment. Otherwise you’re probably tensing in places you don’t need to be. When your in a play and/or movie, your characters should not always be yelling or running around like crazy. There can be moments of this (if it fits the play/movie/scene) but many times I see actors doing much more than they need to, trying to show too much, which makes the performance bland, one note, and uninteresting in the real world. This may not be your case, but I’m putting it out there anyways. Hope this makes sense. I have a special discount going on that you can check out in my channels community section, where I’m giving actors personal notes after watching/reviewing their work. If you’re interested you can check it out. Only if your interested though. It may help more than you know. The price right now is at $34.99 Cheers *The Actors Academy*
