Press the up arrow on the gear shift and it will show you which gear it is in as it shifts through them. You can block out a higher gear when in auto by pressing the down arrow (1-5 and 6th blocked out) and run in all gears to to the highest gear showing. Also if you put the gear shift in “M” then you use the arrow up or down to shift it manually.

Great review JB. I'm with you about the exhaust brake and down shifting. My truck will down shift as with the exhaust brake slows the truck down.

Nice, I can’t wait to tow with a Duramax, if you were closer I would test yours! Ford doesn’t have the greatest performer for stopping a trailer in comparison but the diesel V8 does pull strong through the gears 👍🏾

I suspect that the speedometer and odometer are off due to the size of the tires. Trucks are too tall from the factory and you have to load / unload the bed. And I’m very tall but anything to make life easier I’m all for. Anytime you lift you are going to make sway a easier thing to happen. The wider tires will lower the MPG due to drag. Larger tires cost more. Larger tires pick up road debris easier so more chances of flats. Any truck that requires cab removal for quite a few repairs is off my list. Looks good. But that’s about it. Great video! Thanks
@JB_WhoWork3 жыл бұрын
You know I completely forgot to check it against my navigation speed 🤦♂️... I’m betting it’s off too and now when I hit 70 MPH, I probably was only going 65. Does ford still require you to move the cab on these 2017 and up Super Duties?

The rub comes from the 12.50” wide tire not the fact that it’s a 37” tire. Slightly less wide there would be no issue!! Also I guessed tire size before you told us!! I was spot on!

It's lifted, also a negative offset wheel will end the rubbing. Keep in mind, changing the factory suspension and tires, changes the payload and all that jazz.

@@JB_WhoWork hes wrong... I have 3500-4000 lbs in my bed and 60-70lbs is plenty. Some of my trailers only need 20lbs... depends on the load. 80-100 is max on the bags. I ran my valves for my bags the exact same way, but I have a wireless air compressor on board to adjust while driving. Nitto owns Toyo and Nitto is usually their better tire. A level truck gets worse fuel mileage (hope your wife doesn't read these), that why they have such large air dams and why the 1500 Rams lower while going down the highway... lower to the ground the better it is on fuel. Great video and thank you for taking the time to put them together! Keep them coming!

No, most guys don't change the gears in axles when they oversize tires. The lift is irrelevant, it's only about the tire diameter increase in only drive axles. Obviously lift is needed for larger and larger tires depending the stock truck. #1. They don't because it's quite costly, especially for 2 axles. #2. Few to no one (lift shops and KZfaqrs) is advising to do so like they should. The issue is to put the OEM performance mechanically back in the truck between the transmission gearing, axle gearing, and total wheel/tire diameter. Otherwise the horsepower/torque, fuel mileage, parts wear through out of programming gear selection and fluids over exerting temperatures are exasperated. Guys are not being educated by their elders more experienced or self education in the matters diving into. The problem is boys barely financially getting into adult toys and operating and maintaining them right. It's just about machismo looks.
@JB_WhoWork3 жыл бұрын
Hence why I don’t lift any of my trucks because I don’t want to deal with excessive wear nor want to spend crazy amounts of money to do so... I drove a Cummins RAM 2500 that had a 6” lift with 37’s and it felt slow. The truck had the factory 3.73’s but I’m sure you would need to go to a 4.10 just to get some of the grunt back off the line

@@JB_WhoWork more like 4:88. I mud and drag raced a 35" tire 10" lifted 4x2 1990 Silverado with a 383 stroker about 18yrs ago. It wasn't no Camaro on the pavement but people still thought it was diesel (regardless of the wrong sound) because it moved more than a big truck should. And could roast 35's on dry pavement. One can have the both, just not cheaply. And with right knowledge, a guy could just save up completely to afford it all properly, and not jump in too soon then have to back out. It's why so many posts on CL etc are for $3-5k wheel and tire sets and asking to trade back to stocks. Either can't keep up the CC balance on the purchase and or the new frequent tank fill ups.
@JB_WhoWork3 жыл бұрын
😵 wow that is a high axle ratio... Yea I agree, I alway see older guys doing it right and I’m willing to bet they spent easily $7k+ on their setup. When I was a salesperson, we traded a lifted truck and they used tennis balls to level it............
