Love the video, found it helped me out right away after being concerned that I pulled a muscle in my upper peck, just turns out my clavicle was sitting right after palpating the area myself. Keep up the good content!

Great stuff, question, the clavicle on my right side protrudes more than the left side I'm sure I did something but it looks funny anyway to get those back even?

My joint does not seem to pop "in or out" of a socket but rather remains loose/free, as if there is no home for the clavicle. It just goes all over. It tends to cause me alot of issues with overhead exercises. Do you have any suggestions??

Same here. Been told that it takes several months for the ligaments to contract back. Hard to let happen w an active lifestyle.

Had a recent motorcycle accident and dislocated my right SC joint. Was really surprised that there is no corrective surgery or therapy and that I'm just going to have to live with a dislocated bone for the rest of my life. I don't get it. Why can't they put it back where it goes like every other dislocation. Wtf?

I did mine on a bike on the left side, rear tyre slid out in the wet and landed on my shoulder. Look up sternoclavicular dislocation closed and open reduction, there are a few types of closed (non surgical) and depending on how its dislocated will depend of if it's successful (mines anterior which usually isn't successfull). Open is surgery which can be re attaching the joint itself or using grafts other tendons. Hope this helps 🤞

@@womblingaround Yeah, I did a little research on it. Mine is anterior also. It's pushed a little forward and up about an inch. Basically sits directly over the top of my sternum now instead of attached to the corner. How has your recovery gone? Did you get any corrective care? Wondering if I'll ever be able to do stuff like lift weights, surf, and ride my mountain bike downhill again.

@@MapleBar777 yeah I did mine about 2-3 years back during covid so I didn't get it checked, sounds exactly the same as what you've said, I haven't got anything done yet but I'm going for an mri next week to see what the damage is like. Ive tried to ride (bmx and motocross) and found my balance was all over the place and couldn't take any jumps/bumps without pain for a few days, i havent been able to box or lift weights especially overhead (pullups, lat pulldowns, flys etc) stuff and bench/push ups/dips so id say stick to cardio and core/legs until you get checked more, not sure on surfing but I'd imagine it'd be decently upperbody intensive so it's probably the same as the weights. Definitely get second opinions to try and get a closed reduction or even an open where they take a piece of tendon from your hamstring because with 3 years and working construction/welding all the muscles around it (traps, lats, pecs, delts) have all tightened up and have my whole posture really twisted and messed up so I'll probably be going straight to open reduction or months of physiotherapy to loosen everything before trying a closed reduction My advise would be try to go easy and definitely don't sleep on that side

Ps. even though anterior looks messed up and has less chance of a successful closed reduction it's the better of the two, posterior can kill you by cutting blood off from the brain so I'd consider us lucky in a way

@@womblingaround Gotcha. I'm definitely lucky. I fractured my left occipital condyle from going face first into the pavement and my head and neck getting torqued so hard, so I'm lucky I didn't die or get paralyzed from the neck down. Freaks me out when I think about how I could've been sitting in a wheelchair with a breathing tube right now. I saw an orthopedic surgeon a couple weeks ago who's done the surgery about 8 times or something for anterior and posterior. He said it's very invasive and risky. Said it was on the same level as heart surgery. He'd have to drill holes through my sternum, cut off the end of my clavicle, and reconstruct my tendons and ligaments. All that and the results he's seen aren't very good. Said if I chose to move forward with surgery, I'd have to find another surgeon to do it because he wouldn't. Shitty situation. Thanks for your replies. I appreciate it. 🍻

Do you see patients online? I've supposedly dislocated my sternoclavicular joint. The doctor only spoke about whether or not to have surgery. He said I don't need it, but I may just have to live with pain forever. I think this os absolute BS. He gave me no suggestions nor spoke about how to fix it. I think it is only sprained. .. but I want a second opinion but struggle to trust orthopedic doctors here in the US

Why are the options so rubbish for this? From successful brain/heart operations to unsuccessful joint relocation. I don't get it. It's one extreme to another.

There are vital organs in the area. In addition, SC joint subluxation is rare. It accounts for 3% of all shoulder injuries. Therefore, the right surgery hasn’t had time to develop. There are a few methods but they all have risks from what Ive researched.
