Emerson, Lake & Palmer perform "Take A Pebble" at the very beginning of a legendary career. Filmed at the time when the band had only just recorded their ground breaking first album, ELP had to use all of their huge individual creative talents to create a full show.

Bulent Basoglu I don't know if anyone has answered your question, but yes, Keith Emerson committed suicide with a gun to his head in the Spring of 2016. The raw talent of these three beloved musicians still amazes me after all the years. I have been playing the piano and composing since I was a young boy. Keith was my biggest influence. By age 17 I wanted to be the next Keith Emerson. 40 years later I'm still working at it but have realized there will never be another Keith Emerson. His legend lives. My son, Zachary, witnessed me shaking Keith's hand live and photographed us. I hope some day Zachary fully appreciates not only my music, but Keith's and ELP's. In future generations folks who really listen to music and musicianship will continue to appreciate the unique gifts these people were bestowed with.

"Just take a pebble and cast it to the sea, Then watch the ripples that unfold into me, My face spills so gently into your eyes, Disturbing the waters of our lives. Shreds of our memories are lying on your grass Wounded words of laughter are graveyards of the past. Photographs are grey and torn, scattered in your fields Letters of your memories are not real. Sadness on your shoulders like a worn out overcoat In pockets creased and tattered hang the rags of your hope. The daybreak is your midnight; the colours have all died. Disturbing the waters of our lives, of our lives, of our lives, lives, lives, lives... Of our lives."-Greg Lake Greg Lake is a phenomenal singer/songwriter, and his lyrics are pure poetry. His voice absolutely melts me every time I watch this. What an incredibly sensual singer he was! This is easily the best live performance I've ever heard Greg Lake give of this gorgeous song (LOVE IT when Greg stops to lick his lips at 1:36!) and I'm deeply saddened that Greg cut it short for an impromptu performance of "Old Blue." I would have loved to have heard Lake finish his performance of "Take a Pebble" as he was REALLY nailing this song, giving it everything he had, when he sadly cut it short. I'm so sad for the people of the Central Valley of California because most of them have never heard of ELP. Of the few who know the band the only song they've heard is "Lucky Man." OMG, they don't know what they are missing!

Not really...I'm old enough to have had a chance to attend one of their concerts, In Europe back in the 70's. At the top of the prog rock movement (particularly strong in Europe) there were normally 30K-40K crowd attending their concerts. Punk came in in late 70's and disbanded most of the prog rock (but the remarkable King Crimson). Pictures at an Exhibiton was 2nd in UK chart and 10th or something in the USA so tot really underrated at all actually. Maybe now less known by younger audience...Anyway I agree upon the fact that they they were true genius.

@@jonesy2111FYI: I have listened to ALL their albums. I started listening to ELP 50 years ago, when you, presumably, were not even a horny thought in your parents' brains. Consider this: others may not share your opinions, but that doesn't mean you should insult them. Others' opinions will not change as a result of your disparaging them. I also love Pictures at an Exhibition and Tarkus, but none of their subsequent albums, because the compositions, in my view, are not nearly as brilliant and imaginative as those of their early period (1970 - 1971).

Saw ELP on Feb. 14, 1974 at the Pacific Coliseum in Vancouver B.C. I was 13 years old. It was the Brain Salad Surgery tour. Entered the building into a thick haze of blue smoke to see a huge BSS banner hanging from ceiling to stage. 17,500 people and the building was full to the rafters. Show opened with Hoedown and ended with Karn Evil 9 1,2 and 3. They were using their new quadriphonic sound system and it was incredible. When Keith hammered the lowest note on the Moog the whole building seemed to rattle. These were 3 consummate professionals and it was reflected in their show. One of the most memorable memories of my life to have seen and heard them play live. Carl played his famous solo on KE 9 with the rotating set do you got to see him from all angles. Keith took s few rounds out of the Hammond and played his grand piano as it levitated and spun around. The crowd was blown away. After Vancouver they crossed the border and swung through the western USA. It was there that the famous WBMFTTSTNE’s triple album was recorded. Same as the Vancouver show, Listening to that album will give you some idea of what we heard and experienced. Godspeed Keith and Greg. Thanks to you both and Carl for changing the course of music in such a greAt way. You will never be forgotten.
