If you have a chance, I’d recommend to visit Okinawa. Flights to Naha are very cheap and hotels are also cheap there. The flight takes about 2-3 hours, so it’s also not too hard on you. I think there will be too hot and crowded during summer, so spring or autumn work better. You still can swim in the ocean. I’ve been only to Naha, I think Miyakojima is more popular with Japanese people, BUT flights there are very expensive. I visited Naha first time in autumn and spent also 3 days this spring there. It’s actually cool to experience Japan but with tropical flowers and ocean with clean beautiful water.
