This is not a negative comment, but to all the people who say he doesn't deserve his spot, just look at how hard he is marching(stepping) compared to the rest of the boys. He got his spot bc he worked the hardest. There is no way in that a black school would just give the white boy that spot. My boy had to work for it.

Many of us don't see the color of racism. Those that assume we do are the true racists. It's not a color problem. It's a human perception problem that needs to change. Stop seeing ghosts where they don't exist. God made us all. Just leave it at that. God bless 🙏❤️🙏

@hummingnectarbird4 жыл бұрын
First, for a high school band, they sound fantastic, on par with some college bands. Honor should go to the band director for that. Secondly, you can see the level of discipline inherent in the way everyone moves and relate to each other. Third, all the drum majors are great and there is a cohesiveness among them. They move as one instead of any one person attempting to outdo the other. That comes from a mental mindset that they work together and not as separates. Finally, a leader DM must set the example. Justin Heidiman has earned that spot and should occupy it even if he’s polka-dotted. Now that WOULD draw comments!! Besides, the attention he unintentionally brought the band can only be good for them. They aren’t just another high school band anymore. They have gone viral. All in all, I say sit back and enjoy the show while it lasts!!

In 1986, dad took me to the MLK day parade. Being white and 13, I was kind of scared to go. Dad was a mechanic in the hood and was creole. He could easily pass for being black. The music and the bands were fantastic! It was a great time until the last float came. The guy threw a big box right at me. I thought it was a bunch of candy. I went to catch it and before I could, Dad grabbed me and moved me to the side. The box landed and exploded. It had a huge glass bottle in it that shattered. Everyone there was looking at me making sure I was OK and ran down the float and grabbed the dude off of it. I was shocked that those people looked after me like that. It changed my outlook on black people and forever changed my life. We left the parade in dads 69 Camaro blasting "the show" a Doug E Fresh song. It will forever be one of the fondest memories of my dad. He was later robbed and murdered in Mobile in 2013. R.I.P Daddy. I'll love you forever.

There's absolutely NO WAY I would have been able to keep my trumpet chops sounding this 100% for this long (Had this trick where, after halfway in, we'd sometimes alternate every other member for every other song for long parades lol). Crowd response is also 100% the motivation. GREAT JOB, JDHS! 🤜🏽🤛🏽 👏👏❤️❤️

You can tell that young man especially as a white male a drum major works his butt off to get to where he is. He deserves the credit he is due and so does the amazing BAND members behind him. They all look like they put in a lot of time to perfect their skills. He is not stealing anything. I appreciate him first and foremost for embracing our culture of Rhythm and being the best he can to make our culture proud. I am soo proud of this BAND in whole and I wish nothing but scholarships and blessings to all participants in this School BAND for their college days and pray they continue this same tradition at the high school for years to come. This is the best band I have seen, the timing with the music is excellent and so much more dancing. I hope to see more of these guys and ladies. A lovely video of kids doing what they do best. Congratulations to them.
