Pure Basti Gaderiya. (Huen Tsang page seven) The village is on an Ashokan stupa which will be the Buddha relic stupa Huen Tsang mentions. Huen Tsang writes in the third paragraph of page seven. “By the side of it is a stupa which was built by Ashoka Raja: In it are some sariras of Tathagat.” One will notice all the names in this area have a prefix ‘Pure’. This seems to be the nickname of Prasenajit Raja. I don’t know the meaning of Basti. But Gaderiya sounds similar to the rural word Gadri. Gadri means left overs or rubbish. Gaderiya seems to be an ancient form of Gadri and hints at relics after a funeral. Excavation will prove whether it is the Buddha’s relic stupa Huen Tsang wrote about. I suspect it is one of the original Buddha relic stupas which was the share of relics for Prasenajit Rajas country. It is adjacent to Agraura Dubaha just as Huen Tsang says.
