I believe it was 1974 when I heard Steeleye for the first time. My roommate in a house in Denver, whose name was Gary Drury, told me that they were coming to town for a show. His sister was married to Peter Knight. We got passes to the show, and I was amazed. I'd never heard anything like them, taking old English, Irish, and Scottish lyrics and making folk rock songs...they were and are so good...I've bought and kept all their albums, and would love to see them again, and am so glad they are still playing together...we partied pretty hard in their hotel that night...I'll never forget!

They are still sounding amazing. I have been a fan since 1970.

This is a great concert. Steeleye Span are one of the most important bands this country has ever produced.

Regardless of new members etc, it has to be said, a lot of bands get to this point in their career and require a LOT of support from session players and backing singers etc OR they are a car crash. THIS BAND IS INCREDIBLE!! The live sound has matured like a fine wine and it's literally THE BAND on the stage performing this superb music!! I'm a late comer to Steeleye Span and I'm vexed to have missed so much over the years but glad to know they really are still at the top of their game and going strong. They are HIGH on my list of artists to see live as soon as possible. The more I'm discovering about them, the more I'm loving them.

I heard their song 'All around my hat' on radio today, and loved it. So, I have to confess I only discovered them in June, 2020, but love their sound.

It's amazing. Maddy is not only the only original member but also the only one left from the "hits" line up, and yet it is unmistakably them (and not just Maddy's voice either) Nice to see to that ex member John Kirkpatrick's son is now in the band

Class is permanent...any band that continues after all that time...you have to admit it is awesome

Maddy is Steeleye Span. Very impressed with the current band, highly proficient and energetic. The fiddle player is awesome.

As brilliant as always. Thrilling, great arrangements, ever fresh, new and innovative. Britain's first and best Folk rock pioneers par excellence. Saw them first in Aberdeen at Capitol cinema early 70's , several times here in Australia - like Maddie's voice, they just get better with the years. Had the pleasure to speak with Maddie (solo gig and Tivoli Brisbane) and Rick Kemp (at Twin Towns, NSW) after almost all of these unforgettable nights - so genuine, warm and funny, no superstar pretensions, lovely people and wonderful artists.

As always it's reassuring to know steel eye span is around,great version of old woman of wexford.

I had the very good fortune to see these folks perform when they opened for Jethro Tull in 1973 in Denver, Colo. Their opening really got my attention. They were all simply standing in a row, wearing robes and hoods, with the only lighting being a spotlight on each one. They began singing with this amazing harmony, a capella, a song that sounded to my young ears like it was centuries old. After maybe maybe a minute, they threw off their robes, all the stage lights came up, and they launched into this fantastic high energy thing with, I think, Maddie leaping back and forth on the stage.

Knowing that there are still Steeleye Span, and in such good shape, is something healing somehow, expecially nowadays. Thanks very much

I first heard this group in 1973 when I was living in Denver Colorado prior to joining the Army. I am so pleased to see that they are still performing.

Maddy is still dancing 😁 what a brilliant band. Best folk rock band of all time. The last two albums are as good as they've ever done ✅ How many bands of their longevity can say that? None I suspect. Magnificent stuff!

Saw them in Margate at the end of 2019. Maddie’s voiceis as pure as ever.

I was introduced to SP in 1981 when studying in Crewe. I bought the album Below the salt. Still my favourite album. Still a huge fan.

'All around my hat' was the first folk rock song I remember ( 62 ) but my toes keep tapping every time I hear it since.

Jessie Mae's fiddle playing in "When I Was On Horseback" is superb

One you catch the Steeleye Span bug, you are never cured.

Really enjoyed this, I've liked this band ever since I was a small boy and first heard them (I was 8 or 9 at the time), I went into Woolworths the following day and asked the woman at the record counter if they had a copy of "All Around My Hat"? She looked at me as if I was mad and asked me if I was sure that I had got the title right, it was years later when I finally bought a Steeleye album that I finally got to hear that song again!

Only two songs in and there seems to be more energy due to the new members. Very impressed with the new blend and original band members. Thanks so much for posting this; it is great!

I've only seen steeleye span once.it was at the madison square garden in the late eighties with fairport convention steeleye span and rennasaince.talk about a dream line up.

I saw Steeleye Span when they first started, and they were both original, and fantastic! If I'm correct, from to time they had personnel changes. They were never quite sparkling TILL NOW! Back on top! And now , quite without losing the original style, they have succeeded in adding a rocky "edge" too. This instantly makes them my favourite band!

Great! Maddy's enchanting voice even became more beautiful with the years. And very special: Lev Tolstoy on drums!

It's been so long ago that I last heard from Steeleye Span. I guess, Germany is not the main country for British folk rock. Just by chance, a few days ago, I came across their name again. And here I am, enjoying every chord I hear. I had never thought they were still performing. Thanks for a great show!

Saw SS at Newark, Notts March 2019. As a long time fan I thought that the band had not suffered from its changing line up. Maddie seems to hold it all together. She said the band is like a bus, with passengers getting off and on.

I've been listening to this band for fifty years. Watched Maddy go from maiden to matron to crone. Blessed Be!

All around my hat. Chartered in 1975 probably before the violinist was born but the timelessness of the song and music makes Steeleye Span a legend. Which category they be placed is for the listener but a legend they no less be. Exquisite is their music and entertainment.

I loved them as well from Below the Salt on. Maddy was great on "Never too old to R & R" w/ J. Tull. Won't hold my breath for them touring on this side of the pond. Great line up too.

Have heard Cruel Sister for years with Pentangle, first time hearing Cruel Brother! Jessie Mae Smart has been playing the violin since age 4 and is fantastic here in concert. Have not seen Allison Gross performed live in years. All Around My Hat always brings joy and rememberance of all the concerts in which Maddy danced around the stage. The drummer also played with John Martyn I believe. I do miss Tim Hart from those early duos with Maddy.

Saw them once performing on stage in a barn behind a large pub. Maddy came on stage at the start and asked if there was a drummer in the crowd as thiers had abandoned them. No one voulnteered so she beat time with her clogs on a table. Great sound, great night.

Ah... hark back to the days when I was a false deluded young man, and looked back at our old English ancestors, tending the flock n ploughing the fields.. They were so poor oppressed and kept well down by the rich and almighty, there was nothing nice about it.. I never did understand folksy music, but loved this song and Steeleye Span.. Thanks for this
