Shrimp and Grits | Shrimp and Grits Recipe - Here's a treat for everyone, Shrimp and Grits with Bacon and Cheese! So if you're looking for a Southern Style, Soul Food Cooking video then you've come to the right place. Now this dish id good no matter what time of the day it is, weather it's for breakfast, lunch or dinner, this is truly a GREAT DISH!
Ingredients
2 lbs Large/Jumbo Shrimp
6 - 10 Slices of Bacon
3 tbsp Butter
2 cups Shredded Cheddar Cheese
3 tbsp Chopped Fresh Parsley
1/2 tsp Salt and Pepper
1 cup Un-Cooked Quick Grits
3 cups Chicken Broth
1 tbsp Lemon Juice
2 tsp Worcestershire Sauce
2 Garlic Cloves = 3 tsp minced Garlic

Don't waste your shrimp shells! brown them in some of the bacon drippings then add 3/4 cup of white wine (I use pinot grigio)and simmer for about five minutes (no longer), then pour the shells and wine through a strainer and press the shells with the back of a spoon to be sure you get all the stock out. Add that to your grits liquid and the flavor will be incredible. This works for any shrimp recipe, though I usually use olive oil to make the stock for scampi or other dishes I don't want to have the bacon taste (OK, I'm a heretic).

My take on this is to add cream cheese to the grits. For the shrimps I usually sauté them but add peppers, onion, a little bit of chicken broth, and tomato paste. It makes a great sauce. Great recipe.

I love shrimp and grits. I add heavy cream to the grits and also different types of cheese mainly what ever is in the fridge. I also use down home sausage instead of bacon add bell pepper and purple onion with the shrimp.

Smokin' & Grillin' wit AB if you add some flour to that grease and make a roux, then add a cup of chicken broth, some extra shrimp, a little chopped bacon or andouille sausage, chopped green onions, and some smack ya mama seasoning and let it simmer for about 5-7 minutes or until your sauce is a little thickened and then poured it over your grits this would be the move... not only does it give you a little extra it also helps to loosen the grits once they cool down and further solidify because of the cheese... but me and my folks are supa dupa country

I might have hit my grits with a bit of whole milk and a little heavy cream cause I like my grits a bit thinner. This video was great, the food looks phenomenal.

@Paul T~ Yes! Heavy cream is the key! It makes the grits creamy. Not too much though! I add about 2 tbspns while it's cooking & you talk about something delicious....God!!
