The Diy shrimp trap Tom made, really works! This ep.#44 of Water Change Wednesday Q/A, answers questions on, Live rock cycles, Moving your reef tank, kalkwasser, And boosting Tom's ego.
Submission Requirements for: (REEF TANKS AROUND THE WORLD)
-Video must be 1080p 30 or 60fps
-Video needs to be in 16:9 format (hold your phone horizontal)
-Tripod or some form of stabilizing. (shaky video wont work)
-10 clips of 20 - 30 seconds (please do not edit, just raw footage)
-Video clips must contain, Corals, Fish, and Set up equipment. (filters, sumps, pumps, lighting etc.)
-Video must be smooth and steady, not shaky ( different angles of your tank are welcome)

Where did you get your clown from in the 20 ? And did you take any precautions for parasites or ick when you got him ?

I got him from Absolutely Fish in Clifton NJ. It was aquacultured in a controlled tank. So no need👍🏻

Oh no! You have them too! Ive have one in my 20 gallon for years now. Never bothered anything. But if there is a coral with a oral disc of sorts, my guess is the peppermint is not the best. We live and learn Johan. 😃

I watch all videos from start to finish. I feel i may miss something if I don’t watch the whole video, especially yours Tom. 😃 I also wanted give you a update on those two Berghia Nudibranch I put in my tank recently. It appears they ended up reproducing and now my tanks is finally eradicated of aiptasia. The only problem now is that they no longer have a good source. If you’re interested I could probably round a few up and overnight them to you.

😃 I also wanted give you a update on those two Berghia Nudibranch I put in my tank recently. It appears they ended up reproducing and now my tanks is finally eradicated of aiptasia. The only problem now is that they no longer have a food source. If you’re interested I could probably round a few up and overnight them to you?

Not surprised about the rock flower since they are related to aiptasia anemones! Tom the real question I have is how does your wife feel about the the “tanks” growing slowly but surely! One, two, three and now four and perhaps more! Great content man appreciate it!

Hey William, I’m so glad it’s out of there! Haha. The studio used to be a guest room, and now has became the Tom Reefer Studio. 😃 Silvija and I celebrate a long distance marriage right now. She is in Croatia most of the time. Back and forth a lot. Long story, her kids my kids and stuff etc. so I have the freedom to grow the room👍🏻😊

For people who I am subscribed to, I tend to watch the entire video. That's part of the point of being subscribed, there is content that I want to watch on a regular basis. I usually only skip around if the creator is long winded and doesn't to the point.

Hey Tom! What brand of salt do you use and why? Been using Red Sea Coral Max but thinking of switching to Fritz RPM cause the Alk is a little lower. My reef is mainly softies and I seem to notice they like lower that 10/11 dkh. Thanks bud!

I’m a reef Crystals Reefer, however, I’m tempted to call them and ask what the brown stuff is that forms in the container after about 24 hours of mixing 👍🏻I’m assuming it’s some form of trace Element residual.

I got a stupid question Tom, could you tell me what is the diference between PH and DKH?? I got the DKH test kit, so do you think it is neccesary to buy a PH test kit too?? Hey David, not a stupid question at all. However, they are different. Alkalinity is the buffering ability to lower the acidity/PH of your water. PH is the measurement of hydrogen ions in the water which make it acidic or less acidic/basic. So you do need both tests. I’ve worked out my entire life 😃years ago for American football 🏈and now just to keep in shape. Push-ups and sit-ups and a few leg exercises is all now. 😃🏋🏼‍♂️

I use the shrimp trap all the time to catch my freshwater shrimp, also works for small fish that I need to get out of the tank.

@@TOMReefer I've caught a bi colour blenny and a yellow clown goby. Both were nipping corals. Same trap as yours except I only use one bottle. Cut off the top and flip it around.

Do you you have a recommendation for the cooling of reef tank. Temperature is increasing fast in France and I would like or buy a good cooling system or build one but with factual data. Hey Jean, thanks! Is your reef in a small room? The reason why I ask is, the cost of an aquarium chiller is a lot of money. Why don’t you buy a window/wall air conditioner and cool the entire room. This will keep your tank cool as well as your family😃 ?

@@TOMReefer in France the a/c système for house or other is most expensive. My house met the last French requirement in therm of energetic consuming. The problem is a/c is counter this requirement. My wife and me are agree with you but not align with the cost. I saw a lot of venting installation system on the web but I don’t have any feedback of its.

If it's a video I'm watching for research it doesn't matter how long the video is I'm gonna watch the entire video I have watched 3 hour videos before It also helps when you like the content or the content creator. I use insomnia to my advantage sometimes It's the best time for me to research.

I come to most videos for information. No offence at all but your videos are some of the most long winded on KZfaq. I turn the playback speed up to max and search around for the info in the video then scram.
