Every stitch is a story of time, every thread a piece of culture. Thousands of years of customs that have ever existed in the land of Shu (present-day Sichuan) are sewn within Shu embroidery. The cycle of winter and spring continues, it's yet another year. Thousands of years have been carried away by the river of time, but the beauty of Shu embroidery has remained unchanged. I wish more and more people would see the beauty of traditional Chinese culture. A belated Qixi present for you (Qixi is the Chinese equivalent of Valentine's Day). Wish you peace and happiness.

I don't understand how anyone can be unhappy with her work. Heck, I get it takes a lot of practice to become a master but dang the girl is trying and clearly giving it her all. I love the piece she made, and I love the vibrance of the colors. I wish she could do more videos like this but i know she's doing better things.

my grandma (98 year old, still alive, and my mom around her 70s) did most of this work when they were young. I still remember my grandma hand-made shoes for families. I got my last pair of shoes from her in 1988, and she told me "boy, I am old, can't make shoes any more. this is the last pair I made for you". And, my mom can do similar. I remember she hand-knit sweaters/socks (毛衣/毛线袜) I wear everyday when I was little. Most Chinese ladies are able to cook/knit/embroidery/taking care of kids/olds 40 years back. I really appreciate and love what they did to me. people just gradually lost those skills in modern times. thanks for making this video, which brought me back to old time when a little boy was with his parents and grandparents.

@suddenlysunday work outside and earn money for a living. Back then there will be lots of kids in one family, probably up to 10 or more since most women get married at the age of 16 or so. Women doesn't have a chance of choosing their own husband, so having these skills are important to get chosen by a decent person to live with for the rest of their lives, especially for girls born in wealthier families, because in ancient times a man can have lots of women. To be the formal wife and not the concubine, mastering these skills is a must to be a proper lady.

Well my grandma made traditional clothes in her entire life from small doll size to actual human size, she even done this of course with help at the age of 90-91, but on her last years due to old age she stopped doing this, she passed away near the end of november 2019. She did pass on her knowledge to someone who owns a small scale factory that makes clothes thankfully. because on her last few months she became completely bedridden. the day before she died I was the one who visited her in the morning, she was unresponsive, if I moved her hand she would scream cuz of the pain but thats all. She lives the good age of 95.

I am really inspired by Ziqi Li.She is so creative and talented. Her videos remind of my grandmother as well.my grandmother passed away 20 years ago.my grandmother was so loving and kind person.she did her embroidery, she cut paper flowers like ziqi Li, she made shoes for us, she made clothes for us, she did a lot of things like Ziyi Li. I miss my grandmother so much.❤️

Shu embroidery takes soft satin and colored silk as its main materials and has 122 kinds of stitching techniques in 12 categories, giving full play to the strength of hand embroidery and forming a strong local style.

i dont think people understand how impressive this type of embroidery is, its done in layers to mimic real life, like realism in art. not only that but the threads and the fabric are all silks and are incredibly thin and fragile 0:41 is where they show a double sided embroidery very impressive and very expensive

My grampa grew up in Shanghai when the Chinese were protecting German Jews in WWII from the Nazi invasion and I have to say that she has more talents than any human I have seen, I love her station and have built bamboo tree house in HI and want to build with bamboo on her level and her embroidery is amazing, and after 30 years of meditation, I agree with her focus. She is showing millions..actually hundreds of millions how to live right, and no need for guns, fights and madness, just art and mother earth as our creator made it simple if we pay attention and Liziqi has made it very simple to learn from her....love it!!

I am Turkish, and my grandmother, mother, sisters, and I know this artwork. Traditionally, in my country, girls make some things like pillow cover, warm blanket cover, table cover with this method, and they put them in their marriage chest. This artwork is still alive in my country. It is transferred from generation to generation. Also, you can learn it on the artwork course in the Public Education Centers.

This “蜀绣”（shu embroidery) has more than 3000 years of history in China. One of the four most exquisite types of embroidery in Chinese culture. p.s. The dark blue color dye is from the indigo plants she planted in her garden. Such a wonderful soul!

I see so many people saying that she is perfect and knows all the skills and they couldn't do it themselves. Yes you can. Liziqi wasn't born with these skills. She learned them. Someone passed on that skill to her. She went to a class to learn it. She tried it, had an error and corrected it the next time. Maybe she reads how to do things on the internet. You can do it too if you want to!

I agree with you in the uk there are hidden skills over here what were not allowed to embrace them as was stuck in a system leaving the nine-to-five job and lot of artwork and creativity is not recognising off in the UK this work is beautiful the majority of the people wherever they leave they probably don't get a chance to learn and be creative but I guess mentally you have to make time to make things happen
