I am responsible for the imaging of 10 radio stations in Switzerland. We have equipped our station voice with a Shure MV7, as he still flies around the world as a Swiss Airline pilot and records our voice overs in the closet of the respective hotel room. And it sounds fantastic. We even put the previous $3000 Neumann U87 in the corner in the studio and record all voice overs with the Shure MV7, as his voice provides even better raw material for post production. Highly recommended this part, definitely also suitable for professional use. Thumbs up! I love it!

I love my MV7 except for the plosives. Ive had to put a SM7B foam filter on it, as there are none made specifically for the MV7 yet but it does work.

You can also just put a regular circular pop shield in front and leave the stock foam on. That’s what I’ve done. Those pop shields are literally $5 on Amazon. I’m happy

@@L330HH It may not be a secure fit, I haven't tested it yet but others have and said it works, even works better than the SM7B some say. I have noticed recently unless I keep the mic close to my face with the gain set to high on my tiny Motu 2x2 DAC that my voice doesn't come through loud. I don't hear much if any background noise so I'm glad about that. The SM7B may or may not be different in that regard, hard for me to say since I don't have one. I'll likely have to get a cloud lifter or something to boost the gain.

Hey Jade. You should tell everybody that has Nvidia graphics cards to download RTX voice. It will blow your mind how good it does noise suppression. Go look up a KZfaq demonstration of it but every home podcaster needs to have RTX voice installed if they have Nvidia graphics cards. Very low CPU usage. Just operates in the background and is perfect and free. On a side note this was a really good demonstration video. Take care guys. Merry Christmas

I'm really happy with it. It just works out of the box with good quality unlike my previous USB microphone which was always a chore. The only thing that would make it better is to be able to do the DSP through the XLR not just through the USB. A noise gate in the DSP would also be a great option.

I work for the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism at ASU, work in IT but I'm also the main AV technician for the school. We have several radio edit suites that we have SM7Bs and I had to turn the mics around due to the mounting position of our desk microphone booms. So true on the yoke mounts comment, they were a pain in the ass to put back together and he's spot on about all the washers. Love this new design and we'll be looking at upgrading all of our radio edit bays with these new MV7s. Currently we are running also an AVID MBox interfaces and we'll have to upgrade those as well since drivers are no longer supported under MacOS Catalina and beyond. We use Comrex boxes for telephone interviews and we'll need a single channel XLR I/O to get those into our iMacs. Any suggestions on a single channel I/O box? These sound fantastic! Thanks for the great detailed review and having a Shure representative on the vodcast. This is my first time running across Springtree Media Group's KZfaq page. Where you guys located?

Interesting that Jade sounded fuller on the SM7 but had a lot of pops. He sounded thinner on the MV7 but without the pops. Kevin got the same level of pop control on both mics with the SM7 sounding different not what I would define as fuller just different. Think the MV7 is gonna be more locked into podcasting and won't wander into the other use as dramatically as the SM7 did.

Especially for podcasting, it would be next to impossible to hear the difference between the SM7B and the MV7. Podcasts are listened to in the noisy environment of a car, on ear buds, cell phones, tablets, computer speakers... Not on studio monitors or home high fidelity speakers in a quiet room. Same goes for XLR or USB for the MV7. The MV7 is more like a cost effective update to the SM7B, considering on how podcasts are listened to.

Hi, in USB mode, does the headphone out on 1 mic output both mics? So one speaker can hear the other? And does the headphone out work (as mentioned above) if I choose another audio interface for the output of a DAW? So in the case I'm mixing the live session, I could use the headphone out of my audio interface. Regards

Planning on buying 2, but I'm also looking for that answer. Plus...If I want to monitor both of them, I won't be able to cause the output is being used. So a 3rd headphone, for a mixing engineer being able to monitor the session, is impossible, right?

With all the stuff needed to run the Color Snowmonster Microphone, I would not get it. There’s the Shure SM58. Get that, the A58WS windshield, the A55M Shockmount a 15 bucks XLR cable and for example the Behringer UMC202HD interface and some microphone arm or stand instead. Yes it’s more than the Snowmonster itself but overall it will come out as the better buy. The mount for the Snowmonster is like 60 bucks if not more, the microphone with the mount is very heavy and stands or boom arms arms capable of holding that are not cheap either. Also, all of that would not be upgradable. So yea... not worth it IMO.

Plosives are out of control on this mic. Awful!! Sounds ok... But I'm extremely disappointed by the lack of plosive control on these mics. Given how cheap the foams are, I'm really hoping that sure redesigns the foams for this mic and releases them. (I have 2 MV7's on the way, but what I'm hearing right now makes me regret my decision to buy them. My sm58's (with AWS81 foams) are almost pop proof.

I can't believe the idiots at Shure leaned into this popularity of the SM-7B. It's a great mic for specific uses but the reason every other KZfaq creator and podcaster is using is has nothing to do with the technical merits of the microphone - it's because Joe Rogan uses it and because it looks somewhat cool. Why would you take that cache and ruin it with level LEDs and USB. The upside is that at least it is easy to spot the real know-nothing idiots .
