Maybe, maybe not. I don't know enough about Chinese mannerisms during her lifetime to say one way or another. They might even be taking cues from how Wu Zetian has been depicted in modern plays and drams. In any case, all the leaders in Civilization tend to be blown up caricatures of the actual historical figures in some way or another. Like the whole "seductress" persona for Cleopatra was more Roman propaganda than actual historical truth

IIRC that was the case with Civ 4 and 5: the Eastern leaders kept their poker faces until they got super upset.

I like to think we're not literally talking face-to-face with the leaders and their models/animations are just representations of their emotions and goals. She wouldn't be using that dialect and wearing that outfit in the age of spaceships and nukes, either.

I prefer the face of the civ 5 and the accessories and clothing in the 6. The clothing are a little inaccurate to the clothes they wore in the period and the hair piece in her is too less (considering she is a emperor), and the style is different from the traditional clothing they wore at the time (although the clothing is inaccurate in civ 6 too but whatever.)

The lines are way better than 5. She now speaks in an archaic style, which is much more suitable. The voice acting is a bit bad but oh well. In 5 she spoke modern Mandarin and sounded... Kind of cute. Kind of like a highschool girl. It was actually very jarring.

She looks a bit chubbier, her robes are too bright, and her accent sounds weird (w pronounced as v)

I'm Malaysian Chinese, not Mainlander, just showing you what I expected from her from depictions in history books.
