I believe this is one of the most abused drugs on the market. Check out the dangers and side effects of prednisone.

1:42 How to support your adrenals
3:18 Foods that support the adrenals
In this video, we’re going to talk about the dangers of using prednisone. Prednisone is a synthetic version of cortisol.
Prednisone is used for rheumatoid arthritis, inflammatory conditions, autoimmune diseases, skin issues, and more. I believe this drug is being given out too much, and it has a lot of serious side effects.
Side effects of prednisone:
• Muscle wasting
• Inactive adrenals
• More inflammation
• Diabetes
• Low immune system
• Insomnia
• Cataracts
• Hip fractures
• Liver damage
• Shrinking testes
• Low libido
• Belly fat
In my opinion, once you start taking prednisone, as time goes on, you’re going to need more and more of it. Your adrenals won’t be strong enough, and you'll need to build them back up.
Three things that will support your adrenals:
1. My Adrenal and Cortisol Support supplement
2. NAC
3. Stinging nettle root
Foods that support the adrenals:
1. Dandelion tops
2. Beet tops

it is a steriod, i personally had an increase in appetite, energy surges, dry mouth which lead to increased water intake causing frequent pee breaks. My grandfather suffered a lot of negative LONG TERM side affects which basically destroied this body from the inside out. His liver was due to fail at any moment, his bones were brittle, and he was on countless other medication to counteract the flaws in predisone.

I was given an iv of 125mg of methylprednisolone (solu-medrol) two months ago in the ER for an allergic reaction that gave me rashes and it gave me a rare case of extensor tendonitis on top of both feet. Even tho it got better it’s still here and more mild but now my right tibia is aching/cramps/contractions. It’s already two months and still my feet have not improved 100% smh. Sometimes my neck gets stiff. This thing is hell and garbage. I do not recommend corticosteroids like methylprednisolone, prednisone or prednisolone to anyone unless it’s a emergency or something extremely serious and urgent. But the first 5-7 days was a disaster. I couldn’t sleep, heart rate was high, blood pressure was high, low grade fever. Anxiety, trouble breathing, dude it was a disaster

I am on Pred for long term. I've been using this medication from last 7 years (max 90mg to min 5mg) on and off and almost every day in last two years. I see lot of side effects, mainly, Weak bones, loss immunity, mood swings, pimples, appetite (weight gain). They are not noticeably dangerous yet, but I should be careful and look for another medication.

This isn’t a real doctor. He’s not an md I’ve got rheumatoid arthritis and Been on 60mg a day for 20 yrs While you’re on prednisone you def want your doc checking your bone density. If that’s an issue I have had no side effects like diabetes or any medical issues But don’t ever just stop taking prednisone You need to be bc taken off slowly. And if you’ve been in this long term. Very slow over months So your body will start making it again Side effects from stopping are really severe fatigue And pain/inflammation If you are worried about side effects Mayo Clinic has done studies on prednisone If you can take 20mg a day. That’s a safe dose that is not causing any side effects.

I was given prednisone before and after nasal surgery. While on it, I felt invincible (energetic, running up and down stairs, etc., etc.) But, the down side is, I gained quite a bit of weight. Now that I'm finished with my prescription, my joints hurt and I'm having a very hard time losing the weight. BUT, I can breathe. I fully understand your comments and totally agree. Breathing was my priority and now I'll deal with the consequences of the medication.

I had never taken a steroid in my life until last year when I changed jobs and had a lot of inflammation. The doc put me on 20 milligrams and I could not sleep, I had so much energy on my job which was great but then I came home and continued working in the house doing physical things. I need sleep and recovery for my body to be ready for the next work day. I was so grumpy coming off it. The positive thing was it makes you happy. A few months after I was off then the inflammation came back and I told the doctor to lessen the dosage to 5 milligrams. After reading and listening to videos such as this, I refuse to ever go on another dosage. Watching my diet more closely and listening to my body will be better. Also, I’m thinking I should dump the Statin drug I have been taking for the last 5 years. I believe it’s depleting my much needed hormones. Thanks Dr Berg, I enjoy your videos.

I have to give an alternate view. For my arthritis I use a "burst" of Prednisone, 40 mg for 4 days, 30 mg for 4 days, 20 mg for 4 days, etc. This is about a three week cycle. Then I stop. I have tremendous relief from this for several months after the course. I don't have any of the physical or emotional side effects cited here. I think in its proper place Prednisone can be of great help; this of course is on an individual basis. Thanks.

I have been on prednisone for years off and on for Polymyalgia Rheumatica. Every time I tried to get off of it my auto immune disease would flair up again. I've only been on about 2 mgs a day but then I just got cortisone shots in my knees back on May 5th. I've been following your Keto plan for several months now and lost about 20 pounds. I haven't eaten grains since October. I thought I was on the path to feeling great but now I am just dragging again. I gradually worked my way off prednisone about a month ago. I have muscle weakness, fatigue and don't sleep well. I've been taking high doses of D3 and just ordered your cortisol product. Is there a chance I can heal myself?

Going through something similar right now, doctor prescribed me Prednisone 20MG tablets for a Rash, Took it for 3 or 4 days, WORST stomach and back pain, my whole back ached all night long, couldn’t even sleep, it was horrible, and I feel hungry all the time, even after eating I still feel hungry, it’s horrible I’m currently taking my moms homemade remidiese for the pain and yes it’s helping it go away, but I’m not taking those pills again Ask your doctor before taking prednisone

I’m 60 and in good health. When I was 29 I was diagnosed with MS and took prednisone a couple periods. I thought it was the best drug I’ve ever had. It made me feel stronger and not require sleep. It makes you look moon faced and irritable when you go off it. I only had MS attacks for a couple years, none since. I know hard to believe how fortunate I am. I recently lost a life long friend 6 days older than myself to a massive heart attack. He was fit and the picture of health like myself for a 60 year old. His only problem was colitis which he took prednisone on and off 30 years. I believe this caused his heart attack. I also think when Roger Maris and Mickey Mantle hit so many home runs one year it was aided by Prednisone. No proof or even something I heard but I can see how this would help an athlete greatly.

I was diagnosed with sarcoidosis 7 years ago and went down the vitamin and herbal route and it suppressed the inflammation that is produced by the disease however the last month (April 2018) the disease has broken past the barrier that the natural remedies could sustain. After a week in the hospital and 5 new specialist doctors I have been placed on Prednisone 20 mg 3 times a day and concerned about the side effects.

I was given a moderate to high dose of prednisone in 7 daily doses for Bell’s palsy. Within two days I had very bad insomnia. Over 6 days I only slept 3 nights. On the 7th morning I had a very disturbing experience. I was not dreaming but I felt like I was dreaming. It was a sense of unreality that scared me. Two years later I am still battling the insomnia. I can’t plan or do anything because my sleep is so unpredictable. Two weeks ago I started a Whole 30 elimination diet in the hope of sorting out a few health problems. Unexpectedly my sleep seems to be getting sorted. I’ve slept the last 4 nights and have not fallen asleep in the day time. I’d be interested in your comments. Planning to get the supplements you recommend in this video.

Hi Dr Berg, I have Myasthenia Gravis and currently take 30mg a day since August of 2020, its been 8 months now and I am now seeing extreme acne in my face. Face fat as well as weight gain. What should I do ? I'm scared to lower it myself but I'm also starting to see the worst side effects. Help
@shannonholmes5130

In my opinion Myasthenia Gravis is very rare. I had a friend diagnosed as having MG, they put him on PB drug that was given to gulf war military personnel, they called it peanut butter pill, they were told to take because of serene gas that caused weakness of muscles and even death. The last part of the medication I think was Bromide. He was talking 9 of those a day, plus different drugs for several years. They diagnosed him with MG because of a lazy eye . Even though prior to MG diagnosis he had graves disease. About 8 years later he complained of tightness in the throat age 69, the neurologist prescribed him Prednisone started him 3x a day 30 mg pill. In one week his throat was fine, but his doctor kept him on this regiment without checking in on him, for 6 months. He fell broke his ribs. Then a month later fell broke his arm. During the past 3 years before Prednisone he was progressing to a severe dementia stage. The hospital kept him in the hospital out of his home he owned for he couldn't be alone there. Waited 30 days In hospital until there was an assisted living place for him. Broken arm April first, the state sold his home for payment for his assistant living housing and care. He died, 9 months later. My opinion is that he was over medicated. Rest his soul
