Worth mentioning that the ballistics of this ammo are great enough, that with my TA01NSN acog, the ballistics match up perfectly on my 10.5” 5.56 I use them in. So my 10.5” with this ammo is equal to a 14.5” using m193 as far as drop. Actually has more energy on target past 200yds. Not too terrible in my opinion.

This is something that I may be considering as a home defense round fired from a 10.5 barrel with a 1:7 twist

apparently is fragments at speeds over 1800 fps. Personally, I think it would be beneficial to up barrel length to 11.5 minimal.

@@WorthDoingRightout of a 10.5” barrel, these won’t be going below 1800 until like 400yds if I recall. Either way, it’s way further than I’d take my 10.5”. It’s much better than the m262, which stops fragmenting after 2200fps or so, or 50-100yds from the muzzle of a 10.5”

Don’t let anyone tell you, that you need a longer barrel. The reduced velocity will just mean it retains more weight as it mushrooms out. TMK will still open up even around 1650 fps.. Gel shots with a 10.5 is impressive. If someone tells you that you need a longer barrel. They don’t know sh*t about TMK or terminal ballistics.

@@AmericanSentinelK9Productions I am comparing it to the same thing. I am buying tipped 75 grain ammo for half the price. In other words ballistic tip, lead core same thing as TMK.. I don’t buy cheap FMJ ammo, the majority of my ammo is as good as it gets when it comes to performance.. I only use bulk for paper and plinking.. So since I am comparing tipped Match Ammo to Tipped Match ammo I think it’s a fair comparison..

Yeah that’s why I stock this as my good ammo. I use it in my 10.5” 5.56. I zero for this, and have a mag loaded in my rifle at home, but sure as hell ain’t shooting it for fun. Have about 10 mags of it stocked up. I shoot pmc xtac m193 for most of my shooting though.

I prefer the sierra 77g otm from black hills. With my LWRCI IC DI 16.1" I'm able to achieve right at 1moa while the 77g TMK I get around 1.3-1.5moa.

I hope you tested those in your rifle before you bought a full case. The tmk and otm 77gr are good projectiles, but factory loads of anything are hit or miss. I hand load now, but had some old factory ammo. I ran 30 different factory loads through a precision built ar with a bull barrel. It included black hills 77gr and 69gr TMK and OTM in each. The best that any Black Hills load did was 1.25 moa. Hornady's Frontier and Superformance 75gr, and IMI 77gr OTM tan and green box and the brown box, all did 0.5 moa or better consistently, all 4 also had higher velocities than Black Hills, and are cheaper. Your rifle will be different, so maybe it stacks the Black Hills in 1 hole at 200, I don't know. I make my own now to avoid this issue and save money. I'd also want to see clear evidence of consistent and repeatable terminal performance. If you're relying on tumbling, that's not consistent or repeatable.

I agree with everything you wrote but there are several reasons I bought the case. 1. Between me, my son, and my daughter, we have a dozen ARs (223 Wydle/5.56 Nato, 6.8’s, and a 22lr), but most are 223 Wylde…set up for different applications. I am sure they will fire accurately enough in several of them if not all of them. I also get 0.5 out of the IMI 77 gr. I have tried these already in one and it got a hair over 1” so it does seem the IMI are more accurate right now but more testing is necessary. 2. truth be told anything less than 1.25”-1.5” is more than accurate enough within this bullet’s effective ranges, although it is always nice to get sub 1”. Will try it in the other platforms and report back. 3. I do have reloading equipment but my schedule has not allowed me to reload much. I do plan on diving into it deeper next year.
@joearledge1
@joearledge1 9 ай бұрын
@@WorthDoingRight You are right about all of that. Lol Black Hills makes my wallet hurt just thinking about it. My chamber is also 223 wylde. Not sure if you tried the "Brown box" IMI or the "Green and Tan". I thought they would be the same just in different boxes, definitely not. The Brown NATO looking box was about 150fps faster out of my 18" on the same day I shot the Green and Tan commercial looking box. The Brown box IMI was also faster than the Black Hills by 50 to 100fps. I get the schedule not being conducive to reloading. It takes a ton of time and effort to do it properly. If you're mainly doing factory ammo, if you haven't already, I'd say it's worth checking out both flavors of IMI 77gr. If I had to buy a case of factory ammo today, it'd definitely be the Brown box IMI. Anyway keep up the good work!

@@joearledge1 I got the Black Hills for nearly the same price as the IMI green and tan boxes, which I also have. When you said the IMI was faster than Black Hills I was surprised but I did not realize you were referring to their “brown box” variant in 77 gr. I have some brown box 55 from them but not 77. I also have green and tan 55 from them. I too did not realize they had two variants of 77 gr. My green and tan 77 by IMI is their hp variant and I wanted the TMK variant for on target performance, never the less, I will look into the 77 gr brown box IMI. Have a link?

@@WorthDoingRight yeah, all 4 that I mentioned in my original post beat all of the Black Hills in velocity and precision( Superformance and Frontier 75gr and both flavors of IMI 77gr). I'm shocked you found Black Hills that cheap. Just a minute and I'll get a link to the 77gr brown box for you.

@@joearledge1I just bought a 100 more rounds of this 77tmk for $1.35 a round shipped, so for $.35 or so more per round, I’m getting a round that is more effective at range, and fragments better. I shoot it from my 10.5” 5.56, I need all the help I can get. Mk262 stops fragmenting reliably at like 2200fps, or 50yds from my barrel. The tmk fragments down to 1900fps, which is something like 200yds from my rifle when I used the ballistics calculator.

Buy a box and test it. If that doesn't work try some 75gr offerings. The fastest 77gr factory I've found was IMI Brown Box. That would have the best chance of stabilizing in a 1:9, although 1:9 might stabilize most 77gr at good velocities. Plenty of people have been very successful with a 1:8 and 77gr. So test it out, worse case is you have an excuse to go shooting and you learn something in the process. Good luck!

Superb ammo, but way too damn expensive when others make the same thing in 75 and 77 grain for half the price or less. That’s probably 1400 worth of ammo there and it’s only 1k rounds. For this load AAC gets my money.

I would have a hard time justifying its use on anything bigger than whitetail, but in the video description you will see a link to a website where they talk about this exact bullet being very effective on mule deer, black bear, hogs, and one guy in the first 30 pages (I think between 20-30) shows photos of his wife using it on an elk and got great results. Now, I cannot contest to that being a wise choice, but if it worked as well as it did there, then I certainly have no reservations about using it on whitetail.
